I believe Mike Howerton originally designed this site to be for billiards coverage for the state of Arizona, hence the title AZBilliards. If I'm not mistaken, I remember reading somewhere that he was interested in tracking some AZ regional players that were playing on the Camel Pro Tour.
But, I guess over time, as the site grew more and more popular, it became more of a nationally recognized site and Mike and Co. expanded the coverage to national coverage. Thus, creating out of necessity, the AZ Billiards we know today... which I believe now stands for "The A to Z of Billiards"

As far as a member of the forum, I wouldn't mind playing Purdman because it would be fun, and I'd be assured of a good meal.
