Playing chess with pigeons...

Meanwhile, Jen has other things on her mind than a bunch of Azers discussing whether she is a pro. She is hard at work trying to upset ex-Minister of Offence, Sossei 3-3 now
Go go girl

I don't think you're qualified to call people idiots unless you're taking the 'takes one to know one' route.

Still playing the victim, lol? It's a silly meme that has a good point, kinda like the meme that Atlatlien just posted.

I'm not gonna take Atlatlien's post all personal....

You're right. Silly me for thinking it was directed at me.

And do you really think that your "friend" would appreciate you basically saying that despite her efforts, her finish sucked cause it wasn't top 3?
How many worldbeaters didn't make top 20?

HE ddidnt say a top 20 sucked, he said it was good...literally.

It's amazing pool isn't more popular because from the sounds of it everyone here plays Pro speed and can run racks.

actually, you'd probably be surprised.

I've met a lot of the people on this site, and you might be surprised how many are really great players.

A regrettable thread to be sure.

When the WPBA was at its strongest (perhaps 2004-09) and nearly every great female player in the world played on it, Jennifer's ranking was nearly always in the 7-14 range. In those years, Jennifer probably had over twenty five top ten finishes, and probably about ten top fives. In WPBA play, her victims list included every big name on the tour including Ga Young, Allison, Karen, Monica, Gerda, Helena, Jeanette, Ewa, Vivian and others.

Jennifer won an event in Korea called the Empress Cupby beating Ga Young Kim in the final.

Jennifer has finished in the top ten in the WPA Women's World 9-ball championships.

**** Jennifer won a Joss Tour event a few years ago by beating Jeremy Sossei in the final by a score of 11-4 (see footnote).

In the ten ball event at Steinway a few weeks ago, she beat both Jeanette Lee and Brittany Bryant on the way to a third place finish.

Jennifer presently carries the highest WPA ranking of any American at #29.

Maybe its better to give an accomplished player her due rather than bash her on the basis of one mediocre effort in a match at Turning Stone.

Shame on all of you who have questioned her professional credentials!

**** Amending this post: A knowledgeable poster has advised me that Jennifer's win over Sossei to win a men's event came in a Predator Tour event, not a Joss event.

yeah one has little to do with the other.

Does that line of logic make sense to you? Judge Jaden may need to opine...!

Actually, I feel that the high level of play in pool at the higher levels is one reason why it ISN'T as popular.

There can be no willing suspension of disbelief for middle level players.

There are no B level and below players that can tell themselves that on a good day they can compete with the top players and B level players are by no means the middle of the road when talking about the masses of players out there.

You need interest from the C's and D's for the popularity of pool to really be there.

The popularity of any sport has little to do with the level of play of people watching, but there are a LOT more people that watch football that inwardly think that if they had really tried in high school and gone on to play in college that they could have competed with the pros than there are APA 5's that think they can compete with pros.

Is it really any more realistic for them to think that? No..

but, when pool is already played at a super high level and then when it was on tv, they were editing out the mistakes, that just makes willing suspension of disbelief even more difficult. That isn't the main reason that general interest isn't there but it doesn't help either.

In that response I was just more addressing the tendency for people to assume that because this is an open forum that there aren't highly skilled players posting here.

Just off the top of my head (without even including great players like yourself) we have Donny Mills, Chris Bartram, etc.. that are regular posters that don't have to be the underdog in any match they play and while those players are known, there are plenty on here that aren't necessarily known, Tin Man has placed twelfth in the US open and there was a time when posters were doubting his ability to break even with the ten ball ghost.

Sure. Since everyone here is so critical of professional pool players and everyone here claims to plays so much better than they do, then they should all be turning up at these events with these scrubs in it to snap it off. These events should have 500+ people signing up, all capable of winning it since they can all run racks and never miss, and therefore pool would be, and should, be huge.

Ahh, I see your line of thinking now.

I am not worthy...and I was not pandering.

Though I did run 2 racks of full rack rotation the other night on a RKC gold crown...!! 2 beers is my mix, apparently.

Jay, don't be critical of critical people! Other critical people criticize you for it.

I ran 8 racks of 10 ball last night, regularly give SVB the 7 out and Scott Frost 15-8. I stand 6"7", weight 350 and can bench press 1,000.

I can also come onto a forum, disparage one of the nicer and most approachable women's pro players and then disappear when called out ......

The interwebs ....... giving the ignorant a platform since VBulletin was invented.

Who said that?

Is it said somewhere that to make a comment about someone you must be better than them? I don't know how to work on a house yet when my parents show me mis-aligned siding and cracks on the railings someone did for them I can say "that was a bad job". Or do I need to apprentace to a woodworker for 4 years and build a full size Viking ship out of period correct tools to be allowed to do that?
