OK, so I know that the rumors have been flying about me running the OLD Miller Time Billiards in Bettendorf, Iowa and I am here to say that YES it is true! As of tomorrow May 1st, I will be managing the NEW Sharky’s Bar and Billiards and my wife will be managing the bar. I am planning on having some great weekly, monthly and annual tournaments starting soon with FANTASTIC payouts, so I’m expecting FANTASTIC turnouts!!

We will be having $2 Domestics, $2 Wells and $1.50 Domestic Draft specials starting tomorrow May 1st at 4 p.m. through Saturday, May 8th!!!!! Come, bring your friends, have some food, play some darts and pool, or just kick back and relax with a few drinks!!!! We have 5 dart boards, 14 7’ tables, 4 9’ tables, and 4 8’ tables!! Pool rates are $4/hour for one player, $8/hour for 2 or more players (there is an all-day rate, please inquire within). We are open from Noon- 2 a.m., 7 days a week!!! Sharky’s Grill, managed by Heather Kriner, has awesome, made-from-scratch food and will be open daily from Noon-11 p.m.!!!!! We will be having some awesome events, food specials and daily happy hours coming up, so keep your eyes and ears open!!! WE HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE!!!!!!!!!!

Cool news!! I'll be sure to stop in there whenever I get up that way. Might even be able to talk some Peoria guys into coming up occasionally for the tourneys. Good luck Jess. :thumbup:

I wish you & Kristie the best of luck. Like Jay said, you have been around the business all your life, so you have a head-up on the typical manager. If anyone can draw in the players, you can. Can't wait to see what you do on the tournament side.

p.s. too bad you'll be so busy with the counter that you won't be able to participate in the ring games. ;)

p.s.s. HK knows how to grill a great cheeseburger. Melissa & I think they're the best around.

p.s.s.s. I think a great opportunity exists in plugging-in to the school system. Get the HS kids playing in PE class & they'll come out at night to practice. Grudge matches between the schools could be good too.

Jesse, I wish you all the best with Sharky's!! I know you will succeed in this venture!! Let us know when your tourneys are, and a lot of us Des Moines guys will head over there. Again, good luck!!

One little tip Jesse I learned from some pretty smart businessmen. Come out from behind the counter once in a while and visit with people at their tables. Watch them shoot a shot or two, maybe even show them one shot. Just spend a minute or so with each group of customers. Ask them how they are doing and how they like the place. See if they have any suggestions for you. The personal touch works wonders for your business. Word of mouth is your best advertising! P.S. They will ask you rules questions all the time - be patient!

Good burgers, good pizza, good beer, good music, sports on TV, and you have a winner. Have your day man (maybe it's you) clean the tables and balls every day. It's not that busy and he has time. Keep your cues in good shape too. Also consider having monthly members, maybe $50 a month for unlimited play in the day time. That ends at 6 or 7PM, or whenever you start getting busy. That way there are people in your poolroom all day (better than an empty room) and you are making extra income (50 members is $2,500 a month).

High tech but not too noisy video games are a plus and an ATM machine is a must. You don't have to own any of these, just take a percentage (50-50 on video games is normal).
