Joey Korsiak won't honor $100 owed

I had a bum at the ph stiff me out of some money. He flat out said he wasn't going to pay me. So I waited a month or so, long enough he would le his guard down, and I snuck out his case from behind the counter where the regulars leave their cues.

I took the cue out of the case and in it's place left a note saying we are even on the money. I put the case back behind the counter. I wish I was there to see his face when he went to grab his cue.

Next time he saw me he was mad but knew I was right and didn't do anything.

our sponsored professional just might give us a nod in front of our friends as we pass in the hallway of the Riviera.

Wow, you mean I could be Earl's bud for only $100?
How strong is that?

iusedtoberich...Not that I think you did the wrong thing, but just so you know...he could have called the cops and you would have been arrested, fingerprinted and booked, for theft, and possession of stolen property (even though he owed you $$$).

The best way to lose a friend is to loan them money. That said I feel for the OP and understand his frustration. I couldn't tell you how many pool players I have loaned money too, or how much. Let's just say I have thousands out there, none of which will ever be collected. And yes, they do nod at me in the hallway when they walk by.

I had a realization many years ago that I'd rather be on my end of it then theirs. I was in a position to "loan" the money (usually a hundred or two) and not miss it later. They were the ones who were always desperate and in need of more. If there was any bad karma attached it was on them and not me. At this stage of the game I rarely, if ever, loan any money at pool tournaments anymore. Like others I ask for collateral now, usually a cue stick to hold. Some players have been offended by this, but I just tell them to ask someone else. Works wonders.

Lending money is like going to Vegas, never give/lose more than you can afford! If I loan someone money, it's an amount that doesn't matter to me if I get it back or not...however, I choose wisely on who I lend to.

I was thinking the exact same thing. No way I'm loaning a C note to anyone I don't know really, really well. Lesson learned is all I can say....try not to make the same mistake twice.

You need to learn PPPP (Professional Pool Players' Parlance).

Whenever pool players ask you for a loan, they aren't really asking you to "loan" them anything...they are asking you to GIVE it to them. It's their way of soliciting sponsorship. You and I, as a gullible hacks, are supposed to pee our pants with joy over the honor of actually being asked by a professional pool player for sponsorship. Then, if we accept our roles as sponsors (by never asking for our money back), our sponsored professional just might give us a nod in front of our friends as we pass in the hallway of the Riviera.

Now, doesn't that make you feel better? :D

This about sums it up. Maybe if Joey was more of a household name he could have pulled this off.

I heard that Ronnie has Millions of dollars in collectable Wheat Bucks, man I would like to get my hands on them.

thanks Manwon, I was drinking soda when I read this and now I have to clean off my screen! That was funny!!!!

lol now this guy was the wrong guy for Joey K to put the bite on.

at least the O.P. can take solace to know that the bite is a long tradition in USA pool.

My Dad told me 60 years ago, " Loaning money is just like gambling. Don't lend or bet what you can't afford to lose" Johnnyt
