The IPT thought 8 ball on tight tables and slow cloth was the ultimate challenge. The best players certainly rose to the top so I'm surprised this is evening being debated. Add to that john's 14.1 skills and I'm surprised he hasn't bitten QH's arm off!

In 8 Ball, if you over-run or under-run shape for your intended next object ball, you could luckily get shape on one of the many other object balls on the table and still look like you were playing it.
8 ball has more variables in it and more patterns but it is this that makes the game easier than 9 ball.
9 Ball is more of an athletic game. 8 BALL is for bangers.

I was just thinking about this thread and remembered a few things you had said.
Are you taking off the last few months of the year to play some pool?
Will you be crossing the pond for some pool action?
It would be nice to see you in some pool action regardless of the game or opponent.

no i have new projects in the pipeline now that have been keeping me busy, i tried to offer fair games because i got a bit excited about playing but im not interested anymore i have bigger fish to fry. and if i want to gamble i can go to crown casino and play poker then drive home after alot more pleasant. but i do hope to try american pool one day and the only comps i want to see are derby and poss the big thing in vegas around june time so maybe ill see you there one day.

The opint is that no American claimed that they could as good as him in a week....
The point is that no American came on and said they could get as good as him in a week practicing snooker. He claimed that he has more talent than any American champion and in a couple of weeks of practicing could come here and beat up on the Americans for big money. Then he proceeds to say that he would only play eightball and snooker or even just eightball, a game he is already familiar with and has practiced.
I'm saying that to do that is NOT backing up what he claimed about being more talented than Americans and being able to practice an American game for a week and dominate the American scene. That's being a nit that has to have a lock on breaking even.
I am trying to be less abrasive now and that's why I'm not getting as fired up at this or anything else on the web as you should be able to tell from the language that I use, but Quintin is NOT backing up what he's said in the past.

The IPT thought that eight ball would be more accessible and marketable to the general public in America because that is what most Americans associate with pocket billiards. They wanted it to be on difficult equipment in the hopes that there would be more mistakes and drama to capture the viewing audience. It didn't quite work out the way they wanted, probably because of KT's illustriously devious past more than anything because the networks didn't want to be involved with him.

First off, the part of your post in bold is just that, a bold...faced lie. Quentin offered to play a million different games (also including 9 ball, 10 ball, etc) a million different ways, and was always willing to play more American games on American equipment, and was always willing to give up more of everything else like home court advantage.
I'm a big John fan, but it is REAL clear here to anyone with some sense and no bias who was attempting to make a fair game that could actually happen, and who was trying to make unrealistic games that could never happen.
A person can only back up their claims (or fail to) when the opponent is willing to play.
