John Schmidt

When someone sends you a letter, or an email or tells you something on the telephone or tells you something in person, Do you think that you have no right to repeat it to anyone??

A "private message" on AZB is merely the name AZB has given to its in-house email system. It just means that it has not been communicated publicly on an open forum and has been sent just to the recipient(s) just like the forms of communication mentioned above.

There should be no more of an expectation of privacy in a pm than there would be in any other form of communication.

It was between the two of them, no need to air dirty laundry in public. Not to mention, that after it went public, JS was doing all the name-calling. DH never said anything disrespectful except, "if you call me a b%@&* again, you will be sorry". Just handled very immaturely if you ask me.

John is a conundrum! Go look it up. He is definitely one of the more interesting personalities in the pool world. And one of the top players alive today, ANYWHERE! The funny thing is, after all these years and all these victories, I think he is just starting to believe that.

In case you didn't know John is VERY opinionated and not afraid to share his opinion with others. Sometimes he says thing that I can't believe he just said. But that's John and part of what makes him so interesting. He does wear his emotions on his sleeve. With John, you always know where he stands and how he feels about something or somebody. A little more diplomacy might do him some good, but the same could be said for me as well. I have been known to piss off the powers that be in the pool world.

All that being said, I really like John, because he is a loyal friend and will stick by you if he gives his word. John is an honorable man, one of the most important qualities to me. He is a very entertaining player as well, often quipping to the crowd, ala Mike Sigel. He's fun to watch play, and never fails to make his matches exciting. Like others on here, I agree that pro pool could use more players like John.

In person, John is very personable, eager to chat with most anyone. He will definitely liven up a conversation. John's no dummy either. He sees the bottom line all the time. He is going to weigh the possible rewards with the expenditure in time and money and make the best decision for himself. Can't fault him for that. He'll probably be well off some day, if he isn't already. ;)

John had tried to let the whole thing die...Danny had to keep picking the scab....Down south we have adopted Missouri saying "SHOW ME"..I would have done the same thing......Somebody makes a threat then they just gonna have to show me...being that they are close to the same size that is...Danny should have just let it go...John had apologised already to him if it had offended him but that wasn't good enough...Last time I was with John & Danny's name came up..."pool Related I will add"...he had nothing but good things to say about Danny's game.. PERIOD.. He never even eluded to the so-call incident...just stated that Danny was a great player.

Without so much as a wording of warning, John stopped by last week and weeded my garden. There's not many around like John.

This is not high school. Why are we voting on whether or not we like someone on the forum? This thread is in poor taste IMO.

What HE said!

While I agree that this thread is unnecessary, I can't believe that anyone could even question whether having an actual pro posting on our board is a good thing....

If all pro players acted like John at touraments there would be National Tour and pool would be on TV. And last but not least, the top 100 players would be making a living. Johnnyt

I agree. I haven't been checking this site recently as much as I was previously and therefore I don't know what dispute is being referred to but John has always seemed like a genuinely decent guy. From what I've seen when he is being sharked he responds in spades.

I've been reading this website for a couple years. I believe it and most of the people who feel that way can't run three balls.

all good

I've been reading this website for a couple years. I believe it and most of the people who feel that way can't run three balls.

John is a great player and an equally great person, and if you don't like John you probably don't like ice cream. All the positive things that were said about john on this thread are right on. John is definetly one of my favorite players, and people.

John Schmidt, love him or hate him! Lets vote. I love when he posts. He pulls no punches. He's one of the people that make this forum interesting. Sure many posters can run a hundred or more, big deal, I can go down to my pool hall and see that. But John, he makes it exciting to read. One hundred balls and 400 balls is a huge difference. Keep the shit flying John and I will keep coming back to hear you F with people. Seriously I'd like to see a vote. Love him, hate him, don't give a shit, whatever?

nobody at my local pool room can run 100. where do you live?

I was going to respond to this post, but, I don't really understand what you're trying to say...Do you mean most people who respect pro players can't run 3 balls?

Did you at least make sense to yourself???? I hope so, otherwise this whole mess is a complete loss....

I have never met John but he seems like a pretty cool guy to me. I always feel like you get to know people better outside of their work. Hey John, if your ever in south fl. feel free to get ahold of me and well jus hit the strip clubs and see what kinda guy you really are lol.

for what's it worth...

imho... ["h" really = "humble"]

i don't know John personally, but i really respect him.

i have seen him in vegas with lot's of fans by his side and he is always polite and gracious to everyone.

my experience...
i bought a dvd from him and he apologized he was traveling at the time. he emailed me many times to make sure he would send the dvd as soon as he returned from the tournament - and he did.

i think it is great he posts here.

and i for one, admire him.

all the best,
smokey

Ive met john a few times. Yes he can seem like an ass sometime's on this forum but he's says what he feels and I commend him for it. Like the old saying goes, I call a spade a spade. In my opinion, John is the epitome of what a pro player should be. He dresses well, you never hear bad things about him, he's drug free, yada yada yada.... you get the point..I believe more people should model their game after John... just my 2 cents...
