Johnny Archer vs Mike Dechaine, Derby action.

I truly believe if JA didn't have a beautiful wife and family and other ventures we may be talking about him be the best that ever played , at least in rotation , American player ,
I would love to hear CJ
on this I don't think I'm far off ,

Having a wife, a family and a business doesn't mean you can't conquer the pool world. There was a guy named Irving Crane who had a wife for 64 years, a family, and a car dealership ... he was one of the top three players of the straight pool era.

In case you don't have a calendar its not 1913 ,, ,,now back to the future there is no money in pool and status means zero to him ,, put some real money in pool and JA would Still be a top player and he's light yrs ahead of Md

Any word on how they will be racking? The original hangup for this match was Johnny wanted neutral racker and Mike wanted rack your own. If this is going to happen it must have been sorted out but I haven't heard how. If it's neutral I like Johnny. If rack your own I like Mike.

Ok,,,, dude,,,,, sorry you feel that way! Yes, I don't like him, but I guess in your case I'm not allowed to state my opinion,,,, that's ok, I'm not too worried about you or anyone else for that matter, I will speak my mind, and if you don't like,,,, sucks to be you!

Now, back to the topic, I'm hoping you understand this,,,, if MD was playing sossei, Oscar Dominguez, Chris Bartram, even John Morra,,,, I would word things different, and yes, MD has an edge over those players! But we are talking about Johnny Archer!!! Even if Mike beats him, to me it doesn't mean much! MD is NOT in the same class of player as JA!

If you can't accept my opinion,,,, and hopefully your smart enough to realize and understand what the word opinion means,, don't know what to tell ya!

By the way, what I have with MD is personal, you should definitely go look that word up, I have my right to say whatever I choose to! If that is unacceptable to you,,,, I guess it sucks to be you! Now, unless you know MD and he is your friend, and your trying to stick up for him, that's fine and commendable! But even Saddam Hussein had people that really thought he was a nice guy! Hope you understand what I'm trying to say!

Remember this, there are 3 sides to every story! Your side, my side, and the truth!

Seek the truth! Maybe you should consider shutting you mouth(or fingers;) ) and opening your eyes and ears! Obtain all the knowledge you can on something, and then make and educated opinion.

Thanks,
ELI

Why do you use so many commas?

If rack your own vs neutral racker makes so much difference to the outcome, is MD basically a cheat??

Mike Dechaine may be following in the footsteps of many before him.

You have a solid point, and I agree from personal experience. If I may, allow me to elaborate on a few other factors that I feel are important on the same subject.

On a given day there are several players that could claim to be "the best". However it goes in cycles because of the break and how the balls roll for that particular player.

I'll pass on what Wade "Billy Johnson" Crane told me. He said when a player is hot, they will make the one on the break and get a shot on the two......or make the one and two and get straight in on the three......etc.

His point (and he was known to also have the best break shot in the world) was it takes a certain momentum, that a players receives, develops and utilizes.....however, they have to have this chance, and it's usually from a lot of hard work (Shane Van Boening is an ideal example).

Mike Sigel told me in a different way "CJ, it's all in the stars," and he meant the same thing, and I simply filled in the blanks. I was fortunate to have a period when it happened to me, however, I decided to pursue other business ventures instead of "riding the wave". Johnny Archer did ride that wave and was voted the #1 tournament player of the 90s as a result.

Johnny, is, without a doubt one of the best 9/10 Ball players that ever lived. Mike Dechaine may be following in the footsteps of many before him......he may even set the bar even higher than Sigel, Hall, Archer, Strickland, Van Boening, etc.....only time will tell.

Sorry:( English isn't my first language. Greek is. I speak 4 different languages and English is #3! I've considered going back to school to become more proficient in English but seeing this country doesn't care about English being it's #1 spoken language, I brushed it off;)

But for what it's worth, I SPEAK with almost no accent! As far as my writing skills go, I'm a probably a 4th grader!

Mike has knowledge of the break that few "pros" are willing to make the effort to learn. So instead of working on their craft, they sit back and call their opponent a rack artist or cheat. He and SVB are the only truly elite breakers anymore.

Wow, lol, so it looks like MD is the favorite here by popular sentiment. Here's what I'm gonna do, anyone that like Mike and will actually bet something on it and not just post about it, please send me your offer and what you'd like to bet. I want to bet on Johnny and I will open the window wide open or to at least $10,000, possibly more if I decide to go. I'll take the best offers and we can go from there as far as posting, etc....

Knowledge of the break??

There is a spot on the table above which a ball goes, and the rest of the balls should all be touching each other, if he is not racking like this for himself, then I don't know how else to call it.

The differential should be the break, not the rack, that should be a constant.

Get em Vette! I like the old dog as well. He hasn't looked like much lately but this is the kind of thing he will find whatever is left in the tank and play hard. It's obvious Mike has youth and talent on his side but I still say he aint seen what JA has seen and he aint been where JA has been.

So the window is open just a crack...not wide open:wink:!

I'm good to go on even action. Don't think anybody will be giving up anything here.

We'll see. 9 out of 10 people in this thread says MD is the favorite so why not look for some sort of offers? I'll let you know on your $300 bet.
