Kent Davis cue?

They're extremely well made and you get a lot for your money. Super nice cue woods and shafts. Really good attention to detail. Brandon Shuff plays with one. Not many of them have been made in the last few years and Kent is a low volume custom maker anyway.

I do not know him personaly but my first impressions of him was all possitive.
Maybe someone in here owns one of his cues and knows him.
over all I was very inpressed with his cues and came very close to buying one.

I've had a few KD cues and they are real masterpieces imo. Some of the most beautiful wood I've ever seen goes into his cues and you can't find an imperfection anywhere. Like Frank said, if it ain't perfect Kent does not let it leave his shop. Plus, he's a damn good guy to boot!

I think a used sneaky with rings and one shaft is under $300.
An interesting thing he does - and the only cue maker I've seen do this. If you notice the 2nd and 4th cues from the left, the forearm wood is actually segemented veneer strips about 1/2" wide - he glues them up similar to building a barrel and turns them. There are barely discernable lines separating the pieces. This allows him to use the most highly figured exotic woods available and continue the unbroken pattern all the way around the forearm.
Kent plays good. He broke and ran 3 racks on me at the Swanee some years ago on 4" pockets.

Kent makes beautiful, solid hitting cues. Frank dabarbr got it right. Tate's comment about the veneers does seem to be a Kent-only process. And nobody knows Kent's work better than Martin/Superior cues.
Original poster-it would be hard to pay too much for one of KD's cues. Much value there.

As a cue maker, and good guy-I'm in complete agreement with Jay-Kent is a very cool, accomplished cue maker.

Shuffs kd cue is sweet. The points are on par with any of the top shelf names' output.
Shuffs are recuts of ebony an something red and they are hothothot.

Chris...Another thing Kent does is make the entire butt from one piece of wood, on the cues you mentioned. Pretty amazing, and I've never heard of another cuemaker who does this. Kent has a phenomenal array of woods to use. He is making a cue for me now. :thumbup:

That's nice - I didn't know you knew him. He always seems ready and willing to help people and comes through.
I've just met Kent a couple of times - seems like a great guy.
