I am absolutely shocked and shattered by this terrible tragedy, and my heart goes out to all of Kevin's family and loved ones.

Joe, when I saw your note, I had to stay away for a while because I was so impacted by Kevin's passing.

As you know I first became acquainted with Kevin in 2007 with the purchase of a big cue he was actively selling, one that introduced him to AZ Billiards. Since then, we have transacted on several cues, however, through a hundred friendly calls and notes we became very good friends.

I am extremely glad he came to the 2012 ICCS show in Las Vegas where we had the opportunity to deepen our friendship even more. He loved the show, was gaga over several cues that day, and enjoyed passing some good time with his very good friend Ernie Gutierrez and his wife, as well as Tad and Tad's entire family along with many other Cuemakers and collectors.

Kevin was special.

He was gregarious, friendly, outgoing, straightforward, direct, thoughtful and considerate, and just loaded with fun for himself and everyone around him.

He loved AZ and was online or wanting to be online all the time. He knew a lot about cues, learned a lot, was very often seen helping posters on how to ship, how to be protected throughout a transaction, and brought a ton of his business savvy to the site regularly and openly.

What a gem of a person. My world has been forever altered by Kevin's passing, but I will treasure the times and interactions we had for the past seven years.

RIP Kevin.

Your friend,

Will Prout

I knew Kevin for many years. I am truly saddened to hear the news. If Kevin cared about you he would cut you down to shreds if he thought you were ****ing up. That is the kind of friend and person I like to be around the most. A person that will put it ALL on the line to make you see your error. Kevin was that guy. He was a character and a funny guy too. He would always put down his playing ability but said "I would be a monster player if I knew how to draw the ball". Then he would run 2 racks with this incredible follow position and smirk at me.
He helped me many times with selling cues and art. Always, had the right advice and was always glad to help.
Thanks Kevin! You will be missed.

Wow! Don't know what to say other than my sincere condolescense to his family and friends. I was actually getting ready to send him a PM about an older Gina.

Like many here, I've been in state of complete shock over this news. Kevin was a indeed a great guy, very colorful and witty, and was such a hoot to chat and converse with. It was always refreshing to hear his perspective on things, even if it differed from your own.

AZland is really going to miss Kevin Brewer....he left an indelible mark here.

My deepest condolences to his family and friends. May he rest in peace and may everyone remember with fondness how he touched your lives.

RIP Kevin

I didn't know Kevin Brewer but his postings were always a welcome sight 4 me
to view!

My condolences to his family.

He will B missed by the AZ family!

Noel

Rest in Peace Kevin...

While I don't post all that often anymore, I always appreciated Kevin's wit and humor in any thread I would read. The AZ community has lost a valuable contributor. My thoughts and prayers go to his family in this time.

Kevin made AZ a much better place. He will be missed.

I was re-reading some of his posts this morning and this one stood out, one many of us should follow to continue to make AZ a better place :

Yeah its a disease that is apparently spreading. For me, I find it quite easy to disagree with a guy's opinions on one subject without having to shore my opinion up by finding reasons to hate him personally and I don't find it necessary to disagree with him on everything in perpetuity.

But I realize that's not the same for everyone.

Talked to Kev on the phone a few times, great guy, and was an Ebay officianado.

Cherish your friends and family, AZ'ers. Never know when your ticket is gunna be punched.

Thanks for all the advice Kev, RIP.

I was out of town all weekend and then my internet was down until yesterday afternoon.

I was playing in a tournament last night and was sitting with a few guys talking when Mark Kulungian says to me, "hey, you knew Kevin Brewer didn't you?"

I said yes, he's a friend and he then dropped this bombshell about Kev's passing. I was, and still remain, stunned.

As so many have already said, Kevin will be missed here. What an understatement!

There is a small group of guys on az with whom I interact that I consider to be like an extension of my family and Kevin was certainly one of them.

He and I talked regularly by phone and our last call will remain a very fond memory for me.

Kevin saw that I had posted recently about my having run some car dealerships earlier in my life and I got a message to call him asap and so I did.

Turned out Kevin was also in the car biz in the 1980's, same as me, and so we had that in common and we exchanged war stories for about an hour and a half much of which went way past laughing. We were actually howling (some of the stories were just so repulsive and offensive and so damned funny). A huge silver lining for Kev from the car business was that's where he said he met Dawn - that she had been a manager at a SoCal Honda store. I feel so very bad for her right now.

I learned a lot from Kevin and it wasn't just limited to cues, but man, he sure knew his Ginas, Tads, Bushkas and Szams.

Our last talk even included Kevin's take on his philosophy of life, if you can imagine. Insightful, revealing, and yes, quite humorous.

He was smart, witty, charming and exquisitely funny.

He was a marketing genius.

He regularly and with great ease turned lemons into delicious lemonade.

He was unique, to say the least.

I talked late into the night last night with Chris Tate about our friend and the lesson we are once again reminded of is to 'take nothing for granted'. Tomorrow isn't guaranteed.

One slight possible adjustment to what Chris said is that I'm pretty sure Kevin told me that his college scholarship was for swimming though I know he was a very good golfer, as well.

I never met Kevin and only ever got to see what he looked like fairly recently when after so many years he finally changed out his himalayan cat avatar in favor of one showing off his skee-ball prowess. What a funny man!

It's remarkable that I should feel such a loss over someone I never met. Yet I do.

AZ is an amazing community.

Kevin was an amazing fellow.

You will be sorely missed, Kevin. :(

Rest In Peace, my friend.

My heartfelt thoughts and prayers go out to his family and his many friends.

best,
brian kc

Nice post Brian. If I recall correctly, K-Brew was on a golf scholarship in college. One of the benefits of playing pool with him for all those years was story after story and boy did have some good ones!!

He will truly be missed.......

RIP Kevin

I never knew or even talked to Kevin. But one thing I do know is that I enjoyed everything he posted. Condolences to all that are affected by this loss.
