landon shuffett vs earl strickland match

it looks like Landon went there and let his cue do the talking and play some POOL! unlike earl who feels the need to bring other stuff into the matches.

when you hear non stop about "how can you use a center ball system and put english on a ball" you just seen it!! <<<< i have been LOL' ing at that for a very long time :grin:

All I know is that this kid is probably the next SVB. The score is 9-1 and Ive only seen 2 unforced errors on Landon's side. Earl on the other hand is completely out of it.

Every time Earl screwed up on a safe or shot Landon taxed him each and every time. Landon's safety game has completely broken Earl's mental game.

Can't wait to see more of Landon. He is gonna be a superstar that is for sure

yep!! Shane, mike d, Landon will look pretty good on the mosconi cup in a couple years!!

He shot Earl's liver out!!!

Just finished watching the match a bit ago. He didn't just beat Earl.....he made him tap out.

Among the things I was impressed with most were his table presence and class considering who he was playing. I think he just ran a clinic on how to keep Earl nearly speechless.

Congrats to Landslide for an awesome win. Did anyone else notice how straight his stroke is?

The kid is the truth!

I remember hearing one pros opinion when asked about Landon (I think it was Shannon Daulton) and he said two words. World Champion.

Maybe we'll be seeing him on a Mosconi Cup team in the future.

To correct a couple of posters, Landon was never rude at any time to Earl or anyone else. He conducted himself like a perfect gentleman at all times both in the tournament arena and outside of it. IMO he would be a great representative for American pool some day. Earl on the other hand was Earl, inconsiderate to Landon and every other player within ear shot. Rude is too mild a word to describe his behavior. He berated Landon more than once for things that made absolutely no sense to anyone present. Landon sat still in his chair looking at Earl the whole time in disbelief. To his credit he did not allow it to effect his game.

I don't personally dislike Earl, I just dislike the way he frequently acts during a match. Sometimes we all act like assholes and this was one of those times for Earl. Unfortunately he has far too many times like this when playing pool. Earl may not yet realize how close he came to suffering severe consequences from Charley Bryant who was playing on the next table. Several people had to calm Charley down afterward. Fortunately for Earl, Charley decided not to make a public scene at the tournament and luckily he didn't run into him outside.

I love how he COMPLETELY ignored Earl every time Earl tried to engage him during racking and after the match. He acted like Earl wasn't even there...took the starch right out of him.

Yup definitely a heat score for Landon but non the less... he straight out cooked Earl to a crisp. Beat Earl in every facet in the game which I don't think I've ever seen before!! If Landon keeps his head on straight and do what he is doing right now he will (as Shannon put it) be a world champion.

My question is can Landon play all the games as well as the rotational games?? How strong is his 1P or Straight pool??? He has plenty of time to hone whatever game is played but I was just curious about his overall play...

Did you just coin that or is he known as Landslide Shuffett??? If he doesn't have a handle yet I think Landslide would be a good one to give him

Exactly. His composure against a world class SHARK is ultra impressive, especially for a Senior in High School.

After the match, Earl tried to engage in him some small talk...he wouldn't have any of it.

He's my new favorite player.

My only question is...was Earl keeping his sharking under control because he's young?

To be only 18 he showed a lot of maturity by ignoring Earls antics. He ignored Earl like he wasnt even in the room. Very cool

Naw, Earl's got as much respect for Landon's age as Landon does for his.

While Earl's behavior definitely qualifies as sharking, he's usually decent enough not to speak while the player is actually down and stroking a ball at the table. So that's Landon's secret... keep Earl in the chair and stay at the table. Earl prefers to hold court while standing.

I bought the CTE/Pro1 DVD the day after this match.

I was most impressed with his routine. Very consistent!

I am not sold on CTE yet but I am sold on having a solid PSR.
