Hey guys,

that´s my first try at this little game, and i think it´s an easy one ;)
But give me a chance.

It´s a cue of my collection, i never showed of pics here at the forum,
so hopefuly you will need some minutes to get it.
I realy love that cue, the colours fit perfectly (the wrap too), and the points are supersharp.

Have fun,
Erich

I agree with hangemhigh....it looks like a Mottey.

Great looking cue by the way. I like the way the wrap and burlwood compliment each other.

i am having trouble seeing but the points appear to be recuts,if that is right then i don't think it is a mottey.Regardless I really like the cue,it looks like a top notch cue but I can't recognize the maker.Wild guess..Skip Weston

Unbelivable !!

You all are great in this game, i knowed that before
But Hangemhigh, that´s ridiculious
I posted that cue and two minutes later you had the right answer.
It´s realy hard to believe, that so many of you look at a cue and know it.
That´s realy amazing for me, and for the ones who came up with James White - as long as i now,
this ONE is a Recut Mottey, but how you are able to saw the Recut on the pics - help me

Last but not least here are four more macro pics to look at
Like i said before - i love that cue and the inlays as rings.

Thanks to all,
Erich

Motty

That cue is a knockout! But would someone explain "recut?"

Thanks for your kind words and i will try it short and with my bad english.

Veneered Points means that the forearm gets a v-cut, and one square of wood (with some veneers allready glued on the square) will fill in the cut !

"Recut" means exactly that - recut !
On that Mottey an ebony square went in the v-cut of the forearm, then the ebony piece was v-cutted again,
and the next square (here maple) was put in the Ebony, now another v-cut was made in the maple point and the last point square was put in.
In that case each points consits of 3 Points

Hope i told it the right way,
Erich

So that is the differance between recut and spliced? They look the same but a differant method.

Nice game do it some more. Mix in some older production cues if you have them to throw the scent off of these cue hounds.

Recut = no actual veneers and no vertical lines where the other woods come to a point above the main point wood, all woods in the point assemby are solid, single pieces of wood

Spliced or mitered = line where veneers meet and are glued together (these best spliced points are when these glue lines are super tight and barely visible)

Paul was a one of the earlier cuemakers to get into recuts back in the early-mid 90s.....his and Jim's have always been right up there with the best.

my guess would be mottey prolley made in march of 2007. somtime the signature will be a dead give away! unless it says george balabushka in between the points then its prolly not! LOL love you eric your the man!

Thank you Sean for your nice explanation, and thanks to Bill for the kind words.
I put the Signature pics on after most of you got the right Maker, and other were realy close. ;)
But i hope all of you like the cue and the pics i made.
Thx to all,
Erich
