looking for a investor in pool

Here are some items that 100% of all pool players need to use, in no particular order:

1/ Pool cue
2/ Chalk
3/ Leather tips
4/ Cue case (99%)
5/ Pool Table

Besides these items, I cannot think of anything else that even 25% of all pool players need to have/use.

I like to have a light.

But, not one of the items you listed is in use by 10% of the players from any one manufacture:D

The biggest problem with pool-compared to golf,or tennis
All items on that list can be used for no, or little cost.
Not the case, but if you are using a "house-cue" you don't need a case!

I like to play pool with balls sometimes, just when I feel fancy.

Can you just have an idea for an invention. Not smart enough to invent my idea. It's pool cue related.

You can file a provisional application for a patent for $130.00. If it is granted, you will have year to file a formal patent. During that time you can market your idea with the words patent pending.

You can take pictures, send them to yourself to record prior art. Any kind of agreement can be broken, any kind of patent can be infringed upon. If you don't have the cash to fight it in court... your rights won't mean zip, nada, nothing.

Good Luck...

I believe, and I could be wrong here but of all the items within the world of pool, no product is more recognizable or mainstream than Tweeten's Master Chalk, if I must be specific: blue.

Most players do not buy chalk unless they have a home table, they used provided chalk so a debate could be had that if they use it they buy it by way of the cost of the table rent. I think it is in fact part of the table cost so in my opinion there is one item by one manufacturer that gets bought (consumed) by more than 50% of the players! :)

actually it's $65

For a micro entity, which an individual with an income of less than $250,000 a year is, it is only $65 to file a provisional patent. It's easier to do for a little more money going through a patent attorney, but you can do it for $65 if you file it yourself.

yes...

Can you sell the product during the 1 year "patent pending" period? Thx.

A provisional patent gives you the right to sell the invention during the one year period.

You must file for the standard utility patent which requires proof of a due diligence search for existing patents that are similar and a specific description of how your invention is different or improves on existing similar patents within that year. I believe it is $365 to file for the standard utility patent for a micro entity.

not good any more...

Make a drawing of your invention have it notarized and send it registered mail to yourself. Don't open the letter. Little protection is better than none at all, Hope you sell a million.

In 2010 they changed patent law. It is no longer about who comes out with the idea first but whoever patents it first.

Sending it to yourself registered mail and not opening it is even more useless than it was in the past.

i have a invention for pool, that i have just protyped.

If anyone knows of any investors that would be interested in my invention. I will take care of you after the deal.

Sorry i will not discuss the invention. This has been something i have worked on the last 3 years.

I will say about 50% of pool players in the world will buy my invention.

please pm through here thankyou.

OK. I can tell you what they will say.

"Let's see your business plan."

If you do not have one, no one is going to take you seriously.

Even if you get a patent issued, the fees are about 20k over the life of the patent.

There isn't one single invention today that 50% of the pool players share in this industry from one single manufacture, so I'd pass on providing them kind of figures in talking to someone about investing.

Two words - Master Chalk. Made by Tweetens, the largest company in the pool world.

Anyone who's interested in investing can contact the guy and presumably sign a non-disclosure agreement to actually learn what it is.

To the OP: If you haven't already done it, start the patent application yesterday. Those things are horrible to write and take forever to get awarded.

True words, I have an item I am getting a patent on, and ya, NEED the NDA from the patent attorney.

WOW, I need that guy, I paid $1500 through my attorney, I opted for the attorney route because they understand how to describe the product better then I do, use big words and stuff. I found that having an patent attorney is well worth it. oh, and my utility patent is going to be around 7k
