Max Eberle Backer Fund...PLEASE READ!

money sent.

I wish the MN Straight Pool Association could do more, but sadly the MNSPA is just me and it is non-profit.

Good luck Max, and bring the title home!

We DID it!

In case you missed my update, earlier in the thread, we have reached our goal...$2700 and change! Special thanks to easy-e, 12squared, cuaba, puzlcul, alstl, and OneArmed...who helped us over the top! Max is set to play in the tournament. Even though is unsanctioned, there's still money to be won, and a fine title to hold! This site is really amazing! When push comes to shove, people dig deep (as so many did here!), and miracles happen! Our horse (Mad Max) will be well-rested, and ready to play his best game, without having to worry about finding a way home! :D Thanks again to all who are in the Mad Max Backer Fund Group!

Wow, thanks to all my sponsor/backers!

Hello my friends, this has been amazing!
Thank you all so much for your faith and backing!
The $2,700 was reached and now an extra hundred from SpiderWebComm for good measure! (thanks every bit helps)

Scott Lee and Black-Balled, you guys have been amazing for helping out so much. Everyone who put in money, in whatever amount, thanks.

I'm excited to play even if it's not sanctioned...I think if enough people ribbed the WPA that could change. Read my posts in the 14.1 player rooster thread if you can. The WPA needs to step up to the plate and change their mind considering its an honorary sanctioning with no points and DP had a couple sponsors back out at the last minute.

The guys at the WPA are good guys and maybe can be persuaded to see that the whole pool world is in favor of giving Charlie and Dragon Promotions one more chance, as guys like Stu Mattana, Harold Siegel, Randy G (in past and who got it going in 2006), have helped financially, and now Bob Jewett said had he known he would have put in $10,000...are all willing to help make it happen.

We should ask the WPA to wield their power mercifully in this case. Either way the players who dropped out could also change their minds and come to play! Niels, you have no shot to repeat if you don't play! Ralf, you have an impressive resume but where is the World 14.1? Jasmine, how can you shock the world if you are not there?

At any rate, it will be their lossed opportunity (unless they change their mind), and thanks to you guys, I'm gonna be in the mix and take my shot at takin the 2009 World 14.1 Title to the Max!

Thank you Charlie Williams

And of course thank you to Charlie Williams, Cindy Lee, and the Dragon Promotions Team, for ressurecting the World 14.1.

Also thanks to all the sponsors who stayed on board.

How will there be any pool history if the top players don't go out there and make it?

Even if the WPA remains stubborn it should not matter, If all the top players just agreed it's a World Championship, everyone else will too.

Hey Max,

So glad we were able to pull this off for you. We got your back so now you can relax and focus on your game. We're all pulling for you

Meeze:)

Good luck Max and thanks for acknowledging Dragon Promotions and all they work they do to put this event on. I know what goes into making this event happen and that Dragon in fact operates this one at a loss. They actually do it for the good of the game. Strange concept huh.

Donation sent.

I was lucky enough to play Max for many hours over 3 days at Fatboy's house in January.

Max is a great guy and I would love to see him do well in this tournament.

That was fun, I'm not sure where Max is living now, I havent spoke to him in about a month. He was in Washington State when I last talked to him. His 14.1 game is solid, in tournments it might be his best game-infact I'd have to say it is best game thinking about it.

Hope your good Brad.

best,

eric

Eric...As you could expect, I've spent quite a bit of time on the phone with Max, the last few days. He's been visiting his mom, in WAY north ID, for about the last month. His stuff is still in storage in Vegas, and he's kinda "floatin' around" (his words) these days! I CAN tell you where he'll be in a week, though! :D

I agree with the comments about the WPA. If they aren't willing to put up the money themselves for a world tournament they should get behind what Charlie is doing which is better than not having a world 14.1 at all.

Thanks Eric and hi Brad

Bump, back to the front page, for an update! Max has his travel arrangements, entry fee paid, hotel arrangements, and misc. needs covered. Many thanks to all of you who helped make this happen (everyone is listed on the first post in this thread). He'll be arriving in NJ on Friday evening, where an AzB frequent poster friend of mine, is meeting him at the airport, to chaffeur him up to his hotel, and Comet Billiards. Max is feeling really good, and ready to "get down" with the other top players! The tournament is round robin, in the first stage, which I have always liked, thinking the better players will survive those rounds. I know all of us here (not just the Mad Max Backer Fund Group) wish Max the best, and are rooting for him to go out east, and play his best pool!

Run 100's! GO MAX!

I have run MANY round robin college tournaments, over the last 14 years, sometimes with as many as 24 male players, and 6-8 female players (everybody plays everybody)...and even gotten it done, in one day...a 16-hr day...but one day nonetheless (of course, it was in a gameroom, with 20 9' tables...where they held the ACU-I Collegiate Nationals, and the BCA Jr. Nationals this year)! I'll be running another one next month, at a school out in WY.
