Mika vs. SVB

Mika has a pretty good gear I'm sure. He just won a tourny. He could be tough to beat but I like Shane still. I wouldn't want to sweat it tho.

AZB TAR Action Challege will be be renamed the "Sandbagger Shootout".

I was thinking Mike "THE PAIN" Dechain vs Justin Bergman in the Young Guns 2.

Say in August, say maybe, oh I don't know in Kansas City?

Watchez....you out there? :D

We got to find something for Mika to get into. I have an idea that would be the nuts but it is far off right now.

I'm here - well I am in Indy, but still here.

A lot would have to happen:

Justin would need a nickname to live up to the billing of Mike "THE PAIN". All we call him is the kid or justine (sorry I let that slip).

I would need to lose 30 pounds as I now know I am too fat to show my face in public.

And Justin, myself & others would have to learn how to gamble since we are afraid to. We obviously have none for playing Morra last time for $10K PLUS and being told all over the internet that we were the dead underdog, getting odds and games on the wire. Hell, I had people here in STL wanting to bet against Justin. Imagine that. Has "THE PAIN" ever played Morra? If so, I wonder how that came out  :p

By the way, I love the KC pool rooms. Good people. TAR is good people too, hope they can make something happen.

I agree it would be fun to have an undercard of AZ players. The only trouble is we could never find a hat big enough for all the AZ "A" players, weather real A's or imagined. Johnnyt

sometimes i think that the people that claim to be A players on here might not be.

i do really think it'd be cool to see a couple of dvds of some strong B players. something that showed some 2 way shots or more ducking that the pros don't do because they're always in line

For any other "C" players - I'm ready to post up for a TAR match.

Ill take the 7 and the last 2 and play you LIVE for the camera. Im not quite a C player, but I love to gamble.

Everybody knows that I am down for playing just about anyone that is where I am at. I am not going to jump onto some champ when I don't have to. The people that I have called out to play have all refused. That just makes them all afraid to gamble. Chad if anyone fare wants to play you no how to get a hold of us.
Young guns Challenge 2
Justin Bergman
John Morra
Jason Klatt
Shannon Murphy
Oscar Domingez
Tom D'alfonso
Mitch Ellerman
Eric H? from canada
and any other YOUNG players that want to play. I am 21 and these players are around my age.
The match that I would to see here is Mike D and Jason Klatt.

I actually like the idea of two forum members playing on TAR. The only downside to the OMGWTF v CUBC match was that it was sooooooooooooooo political.

So, I think there would be at least a list of 40 ACTIVE forum members that are A to Open level who you could pick out of a hat that would be fun to see match up.

On a second tier, there's probably a hundred or so Bs that would be fun to see.

I just thought watching amateur play was a bit refreshing. High calibre amateur play may even be MORE fun than watching the pros.

I'm in...with the right matchup.

The next match that I would like to see on TAR would be Mika vs. SVB. This match would be great to watch. Who does everyone like in the match?

Mika is the only pro that I have on my "ignore" list. He's not "fan-friendly". He's way too arrogant & prissy, he whines and has hissy-fits and pouts way too much to reward with a T.A.R. match, in my opinion.

Other than that, he's a great player.

That's the first time I've heard this. Did you have a bad personal experience, or see something at a tournament? Are you sure you're not confusing him with Earl? :o

Beetle,
I met Mika back when he was still sponsored by Capone's and he seemed nice to me. We only spoke for a minute or so.

But I saw him again in 2003 and 2004. He seemed totally different. There were some guys asking to take pictures with him and he said "No." He was with 2 other guys about his age who told him "Go ahead, they just want your picture." He just quietly said 'No" and kept walking. I saw him a couple of more times each day, and he seemed like he was in a bad mood. But don't take my word for it. Do a little search on the threads or ask around. I've read other stuff about him not being real friendly, but I really shouldn't be gossiping. He's a great player and nobody's perfect.

As for Earl, I've met him and been around him several times. Each time, he was super friendly, very respectful and very gracious. The very first time I met him, he thanked ME for being a fan of his! My kids had printed a photo of him off the internet and he was kind enough to sign it. Then, he asked if I had a camera and would I like a picture with him! Him and Lassiter are my 2 all time top favorite players ever! I will never forget how super he was. Easily one of the nicest pros I've ever spoken to. And on other occasions, he stood around with me and just talked like the guy next door. Unbelievably gracious.

Earl only acts out when he's provoked by others. Many, many people have had very positive experiences with him. I'm his fan for life.

Jude would you play?

I've been thinking about that very question all day. Honestly, I don't know if I would. There's a part of me, like many of us, that really enjoys the limelight. I like being on the head table in an important match with the room watching.

However, playing infront of a camera I can see being a bit different. I am, afterall, an amateur player and I can't say I play well (at least by my standards) every time I screw my cue together.

Instead of how OMGWTF and CUBC did it, I would probably want to do a series of sets. Something like 3 races to 9 with intermissions inbetween would probably suit me best. That way, if I felt distracted during the first set, I could take a moment to regroup. I'm not AFRAID of playing poorly infront of a camera but I'd like to play well and would do whatever it took to create something that's familiar to me.

Still, I would be particular about whom I played. It would have to be someone I had no beef with and the stakes would have to be significant enough to want to win but small enough that I'm not going to want to jump off a bridge if I screw up.

Ok Jude, heres what I propose...You and I play a set of 9 ball, one pocket and 8 ball (I really have never played banks or straigth pool). Wel will put up say $1500 (not too crazy) and the winner of 2 of the 3 sets gets the cash. I can give you about a dozen names on here, some pros included, that can vouch I am no "A" player. The only person I can say I have gambled with that you may know is Evan Broxmeyer and I won...although I think it was a fluke. I think it would make for a great undercard match on TAR. Whatcha think?

I don't play 1-pocket and would be hesitant to get my "learning experience" from anyone south of the Mason-Dixon Line. It's an interesting idea, though. If we have a time & place sometime in the future, I might be up for working out the details.

Who cares about nicknames. I just want to play pool. I have challenged the champion of the young guns challenge and all i want to do is gamble. Even if it is not with him i would like to play someone on the list i have made or if anyone has some suggestions i am open. I just want everyone to know i am not just calling out Justin.

Yeah I think the Cubc V OMGWTF match was the tip of the iceberg. We have got to start matching up quality amatuer players on here, let the good times roll!

Terry Im right with you. Earl has always been a gentleman to me. He is a lot of fun to talk with but I do give him a lot of respect. I do with all the pros. I dont ask for autographs or pictures. Nor do I go out of my way to bother anyone, cause I dont liked to be bothered myself. But I too have noticed Mika's behaviour. He is rude and unprofessional and if TAR booked a match with him I would just send them the money (I love those guys) and not watch.

Yeah he has been known to gamble when he has the dead nuts. But he does have to make a living at it so I give him that. Its just his behaviour with other pros that is so unappealing. .The whining and the accusations of giving him the "rack" is just unbelievable And please ladies dont tell me what a great guys he is. He does like the ladies.

As for amateurs I wouldnt watch. I do every nite at the pool hall. I like to watch excellence in performance and preparation. Unless it is of some regional value. Like Canada vs America, East Coast vs West Coast, Boston vs NY, The Sunny South vs Chicago (banks), etc.

I probably be more interested in a Mike D vs Justin Bergman. After watching Mike take on Busta at the DCC in tournament I can say that he is first class and should be awarded the opportunity to play Justin for the Young Guns title.
