Cripe, the announcer "he wanted the ball to come down and freeze on the rail because you can spin it in easier".

Someone missed the sarcasm in Dennis' true reaction.

I missed that call! That was me :frown:. Pretty bad huh. I just didn't realize at the moment that he was being sarcastic. For whatever reason all I could see is that he had a better chance to cut in a frozen ball then one just off the rail. See, even announcers dog it sometimes!

Meanwhile the missed position on the eight ball, may have been the turning point of this year's Cup. Dennis had LOTS of room to play shape and he got a little too cute with it, trying for perfect position. What he failed to do then was to come up with the best possible shot for the situation he now had. His mind was a little muddled from the mistake he had just made. I don't know if you noticed it but he had his jump cue in hand and at the last moment cast it aside and shot with his playing cue. That one I called right, saying that it was going to be very hard for him to spin this one in, and it was.

He could have also opted to play safe, hitting the eight ball up table and ducking behind the nine, or better yet gone for the jump shot. He had a better chance of making that in my opinion. I think he was afraid of jumping the cue ball off the table.

Good observation by whoever noticed Darren throwing his cue on the floor and seeing it come apart in two pieces. I saw it also and said so on the air, "He may have broken his cue just now." Afterward the ref picked up the two pieces and set them on the table. It appeared to have come apart at the joint. How damaged it was I don't know and I didn't ask.

Jay, I think that was the second time he left the US hooked with only two balls on the table, the other also being at a crucial point in the full team match or one of the doubles.

Ya the Hatch match was such a heartbreaker. I mean he had two combos on the nine that didn't go down and then that ending with the last rack. When I saw him put his cue down to show the line he was looking to put the cue ball on for the 8 I thought to myself, man that is tight if you don't come out enough....leave yourself a shot even if it isn't straight in.

The last two matches just had some uncharacteristic mistakes by the US. I almost fell out of my couch when Corey completely missed that 4 ball he was trying to thin cut. Here's to hoping they can shake it off and get back in there tomorrow. It is tough when you have to win 5 and your opponent only has to win 3.

I understand there's a lot of emotions going on.. but some of the celebrations by these guys are borderline childlike.

Appleton especially when he beat hatch. I had some friends in the room watching it with me and the way he was hopping around they were asking me if the entire thing was over....

Hatch's conduct is also getting a little old to me.

Only person whose conduct i've liked so far, as usual, is shanes. Just calm cool and relaxed.

Just my 2 cents.

anyone knows what´s going on? Are they not playing yet?
