My Top 3 AZ'ers

Like most have said, its difficult to narrow it down to just three. That having been said:

JCIN
Jay
Bartram

Mine are those that tell me I'm wrong when I think I'm right, but in reality I am wrong....Thx to you, when you surface.

R. Long
Jewett
Tramp Steamer

I enjoy just about everyone on here. If I had to pin it down to 3 I'd leave AZB. But for this post I'll go with
JCIN
Jay
Bartram

PS: Jay, according to my pool detectives that have seen us both play when we were younger they said I might be a slight favorite on the BB and you would be the favorite on the big table in rotation games. Even odds in 14.1 and I never played 1 hole or banks. I still think we played around 1980 on the East coast of FL. I keep thinking Pompano Beach, or around there. If you were who I'm thinking of, you got the money on the 9' ( a few $100) Johnnyt

And I was going to toss one in for Bruce too.
Can't as he already has 3.

If I were to be allowed more than 3, Bruce would have been on the list anyway.

I did go through that way in 1978, on my way to Miami. I just remember stopping in West Palm Beach and seeing my buddy Jimmy Harris. I played a couple of guys in that room and won. Then around Ft. Lauderdale I got steered to another poolroom where I played some 9-Ball with a couple more guys. I got lucky there too, maybe winning a couple of hundred. I was only in each spot for one day. Sorry but I really don't remember that much about it. I played so many people on that trip that they all blend together.

I do remember running into a young Scotty Townsend on my way back out West. But that was in Mobile. I did play run-out Eight Ball on the bar table back then. I wasn't much into playing a safety type game because that would knock your action. But I could make any shot I could see. It took a pretty good bar table player to beat me (Buddy Dennis got me on that trip ;)). I played Scotty to a stand still and that was 9-Ball!

Are there any youtubes of Jay playing pool?

There weren't any cameras allowed in pool rooms back then. :)
I did shoot a trick shot for ESPN at the Caesars Palace tournament in 1984. It was the balancing act shot, three bridges high. I had only one chance to make it and I did. Unfortunately that's the tournament that never aired because the players would not sign TV releases.

I was also on a streaming match from the U.S. Bar Table about 5 years ago (Justin of TAR was streaming). I played HORRIBLE and lost. I was so mad (dead out of stroke) that I practiced for hours afterward and won my next five matches to make the final 32 (and the $$).

I don't play good enough anymore to ever get to a TV table. Years ago at DCC I won seven matches in Banks and was hoping Accu-Stats would put me on the streaming table. Pat just laughed when I asked him about playing my next match on there.

I've offered to play Billy Incardona a high dollar Bank Pool match on TAR, as a prelim to another show, but Justin also just gives me a big grin. :sorry:

Jay still plays good especially considering he practices about 15 minutes a year. He is especially sharp on bank shots and is a one pocket specialist. In some of our local tournaments, just when I thought his run was over, he would slam in a bank and just continue on his merry way.

Not only would playing safe kill your action in some of those little bucket of blood bars down south, it could also get you hurt or worse, if you were hustling. Johnnyt

"Dying aint much of a living.....boy!!!"

I don't know who the legendary moderator "Mr Wilson" is so I always picture Clint Eastwood in the 'Outlaw Josey Wales'.

Especially the scene where the bounty hunter comes after "Josey" and is told "You don't have to do this".....and the bounty hunter says "a man's gotta make a living".....

Josey replies:

"Dying Aint Much of a Living BOY!!!" . --- later in the movie the locals report that Josey's (Clint Eastwood) name is "Mr. Wilson" to inquiring law enforcement....these are some of my all time favorite movie scenes. So when "Mr. Wilson is involved I always picture him shooting the bounty hunter in that tavern. :thud:

It takes "almost" everyone to make this forum engaging and entertaining - special thanks to Mike, and Jerry for creating this forum and keeping everyone in the pool world posted and informed on AZBILLIARDS......2014 is going to be a special year for Pocket Billiards - Play Well :D
