There are plenty of well established, reputable cuemakers that are far more deserving of your dollars. Their cues are better, their customer service is better. Mike Gulyassy posted in this thread. He's one of many examples of a better choice.


Everyone has their own opinion. You are entitled to yours. My player is a custom.(clark smith from washington state) I wouldnt sell it for anything. It hits perfect. I am looking for a break cue and thought about trying out a wheat. Thanks for your concern. BTW, Eddie- your pm box is full. Could you email the pics again, I never received them. I'm surprised there's no response from Varney yet. Maybe he's trying to finish up the cue because he thinks it will take the heat off him from having to give a refund. That s exactly what i am getting and will not settle for less. And from what the Attorneys say i could be entitled to more which i would split with everyone who has helped but i will settle for th cue and my cash and thats that!!!

This is getting nasty !!!!

I will try to contact Kevin via home phone again... if I manage to connect with him verbally I WILL tell him to come on here and atleast explain himself or offer some type of resolution with this out of control problem before he DOES lose everything !!!

As a fellow cuemaker and a newbie to the international market.. I am very sorry you have had such a terrible experience with a custom cuemaker !!!

I realize your not alone in your plight.... even though I'm NOT a customer of Kevin's and really have no business in this thread.. as a neutral party I feel the need to atleast try to help get this resolved as immediate as possible before things get way out of hand.... meaning - "a bunch of good ol' boys in a p/u truck with sheets over thier heads storming the Varney residence dragging him out and lynching him in the nearest tree !"

I'm not doing this for any other reason than to restore some faith and order to the custom cuemaker's market which "ironically" happens to directly effect me !!!

I'll be in touch regarding my success with contacting him !

I don't feel the need to start my own thread so I'll post in here. I've been waiting 2 years for my cue (ordered it late May 2006). I've been told my cue was delayed due to rings popping because of a heatwave, then the cue had to be rebuilt 3 times due to the wood moving. Made a 50% deposit on the cue to start, and was given a 90 day turnaround time. Was told on 05/08/07 that my cue woud be finished in a few days, and to send the final balance (which I sent immediately). The last update I got was on 04/23/08 through another AZ'er that knows Kevin; the message from Kevin being that my cue had received its final pass and should be finished soon.

Kevin has turned out a few cues in the past couple months, but I can't shake the feeling that I've been put on the back burner yet again.

In my opinion you are being very unrealistic with these demands. Its not like the interest on the money would be more than a few dollars.

You should be entitled to either the cue or your money back, to say you deserve both is not equitable and also not realistic.
 
I suspect it is time that the Mod's get involved, would some one please contact Mr. Varney this has got to stop. Here is another forum Member who has been taken advantage of for more than to years with no resolution. When is enough going to be enough, how many more members are out there who have not come forward for fear of their cue and money being held hostage.

Is there any way to stop this guy from screwing other members, and still get the problems of current members resolved? Something must be done to end these problems, any suggestions!!

The only thing I can see is Legal Action against Kevin Varney. I think that forum members who are owed cues and have not received any resolution should come forward and band together with Cincyman. This way the amount being sued for can be combined under a single action, and the amount being sued for will increase. This way the Penalties under the Law will also increase from Misdemeanor charges to Felony Charges. In my opinion Kevin deserves everything he gets and banning him at this point will give know one the resolution they deserve.

I Contacted Kevin Varney !!!!

And I did exactly as I said I would.....

First off..... The system Moderaters asked Kevin NOT to respond to these threads and posts for obvious reasons !!!!!

I and Kevin talked for about 36 min. on the phone..... He assures you guys that EVERYTHING is fine !

He is hard at work... he has about 200 orders pending.... 30-40 cues in their final pass stage and about 20 orders ahead of CINCYMAN !!!

Kevin said he will not expedite CINCYMAN's order ahead of the other 20 becasue it's not fair to them..... He is under an extreme amount of pressure and since this is his only source of income as well as being a family man with a 5 month old child.. he has to play father,husband and cuemaker at the same time....

Yes he's overworked and overwhelmed with orders and as most of you know by now..... he's NOT taking anymore orders anytime soon !!!

He is the only laborer in his shop so it's a one-man operation and as a custom cuemaker I can relate to how exhausting that can be...thank god I'm NOT a family man or I would never get any work done in a REASONABLE amount of time !!!

Kevin asked me to assure you that CINCYMAN'S cue will be done shortly and he will be very impressed and happy with the results... He is also giving extra little additions "rings etc." to most of the pending orders at no charge just to show his appreciation for the unavoidable delays !!!

After talking with him for that length of time, in my very honest opinion is this:

Kevin is very overworked and under alot of family stress and is completely exhausted and I feel by his tone of voice and sincerety that all of you will get your cues with satisfactory craftsmanship in the near future, he did not in any way shape or form indicate that he's trying to screw anyone over... he just bit off a little more than he could chew.. and that can happen to anyone of us cuemakers in this market at any given time !

Once again I'm NOT siding with Kevin or any of you.. I am NEUTRAL in this matter....and I do NOT wish to become a liasion between you at all !!!!

I simply offered my help try to rectify this out of control issue and restore a little normality back into the world of AZ Billiards.......

I sincerely hope this brings a little peace of mind to the subject at hand and will avoid possible unneccessary legal procedures and/or lynching !!!

Well warcraft is pretty much done now too. It's back to fishing for me this summer!

The accurate story?

I find it funny ALL of Varney's customers that bring their stories forward are ALWAYS lying.
