Face it, anyone waiting for a Varney cue. You will never get a refund. You will probably get your cue, it just might take anywhere from a few more months to a year or more. He might give you an extra ring, or an upgraded ferrule as apology. Accept it or not, he doesn't care. The end.

My point is this: moreso than any other cuemaker, Varney established himself through this forum. I guess with all the nuthuggers out there (ie "No-Illusions" lmao) his reputation might be salvagable, or at least forgotten in the fullness of time (I'm talking years).
As long as this remains a possibility, he's got something to lose. I do think that he is going to finish up people's cues, and if he were permanently banned from azb it seems the chances of this is diminished. Maybe a ban until he catches up on every single order? I don't care very much either way. Frankly, based soley on the merit of his work and asking price, I would be agape at a 10 man wait list, let alone 200. But then again I read a KV fan-post like the one above and I guess there could be that many clueless people hanging around.

I damn sure would tell him NOT to take 1-2 years either! Its not like KV is building Ginacue's or Mottey's that are loaded with inlays then I could understand.
How many more have to suffer before KV will take the blame himself instead of attack every single customer (that paid upfront mind you) that asks about their cue/cues? If he didnt want the headache go get a day job. Nobody forced him to be a cuebuilder. HE chose that route. Now he must be a MAN and accept responsibility instead of blaming someone/something else.

Being his friend I hope you urged him to pick up the phone and talk to these people with pending orders. Tell him he ought to be straight, tell the unvarnished truth and make every effort to make it right.
If he is the honest hard working business man then good communication would smooth a lot of the problems away.
If I ponied up full price for a cue and the stated delivery date came and went without any explanation I would be upset/nervous too. A realistic update from him would do wonders to settle the buyer down. People are much more patient and understanding when they know what is going on.
If he picked up the phone we wouldn't see so many of these threads about missed commitments and "am I going to get my cue?" threads.
These threads happen because of Kevin, not because people were out to get him. I personally was very impressed when he put together a cue for our own Inzombiac. It was an unsolicited gesture that showed him to be a nice guy. I know Inzombiac was thrilled to get it.
Friends of Kevin: Tell him to call these people. It's the best thing he can do. A 2 minute phone call fixes more than a couple extra rings in a cue you don't know if you are ever going to see.

There are MANY people who gladly wait for 5-10+ years for cues like Southwest, Searing, etc. Varney is no Searing or even Southwest level cuemaker. Any wait of years for a Varney cue (when you are quoted 60 day turnaround times) is due to lying, bad business practices, incompetence, and just not caring enough to spend the time in the shop it takes to get the orders out as promised. The lying and bad business practices have already been proven beyond any and all doubt, and the others are pretty darn likely.
The issue here is not how long the cues are taking, but how long they are taking compared to how long they were promised it would take. Most people were promised 60 days. Many people have already been waiting for one and two plus years. That is 6-12 times longer than promised! If Balabushka himself were alive and making cues and took 6-12 times longer than the time he quoted, especially when it was clear he was lying about the delivery times to secure orders, then there would be a revolt.
Another of the big issues is his refusal to give refunds for cues that are far past their promised delivery time. When you give or estimate a delivery time, you are entering into a legally binding verbal contract with the customer. If you are unable to honor that contract FOR ANY REASON, the customer is legally entitled to a full refund, and possibly other damages depending upon the circumstances. Trust me when I tell you if someone takes him to court he will lose EVERY time--there are already court cases out there to prove it.
I can understand the desire to want to stand by a friend, but that doesn't mean that you have to support their behavior when it is clearly wrong or out of line. Those that support his business practices are the only joke around here--friend or not.

I love hearing people call others haters for bringing to light the PIS* POOR customer service from someone that has lied repeatedly to others. That is like the bank robber calling the jurors a bunch of haters after they convict him in absentia. He could have shown up for his court appearance, but let me guess.... He is too busy burning the 3:30 AM oil because he wasn't burining it before???? This whole thing apparently lit a fire under his backside that wasn't there before. Especially hearing the words lawsuit, which have been bantered around. yeah. Everyone is a hater when they see someone getting NON PERFORMANCE on the part of someone who has already promised, taken, and ducked.
If he is struggling financially, then he needs to maybe bite the bullet a lot of cue makers have had to bite. Find a day job, and do this part time on the weekends and at night. He has lost a lot of future business at this point, that may be the only reality for him. I know I would never send him a penny for a cue, where I was actually considering it just to see what the hype was about. That deal is definitely dead. No one in their hearts wants anyone to sink, but no one wants to see someone continually take advantage of others from afar either.
