I was talking to Dan when Chad and Shane left last night and they both confirmed with Dan that they are going to be in Olathe for the July 18-22 3,000 tournament. Should be a good time and do not forget about the 100.00 one pocket tournament that starts on Thursday July 18, 2007.

I’m not taking anything away from SVB. From all reports he is a great guy and a great player. As far as him being the best player in the US right now…maybe he is. I’d say he has a better than average chance to beat anyone even in a 9-ball match right now. You only have to beat one player. You still need to have your break working and get some good rolls to win.

But in a major tournament with 64 players…with 20 of them world class and any of them getting good rolls that day…it’s a different story. When you get up into the top 20 a lot depends on the rolls. The top 20 are all just about even going into the tournament. Johnnyt

I would imagine

that there is going to be a buzz in the air at Shooters until the big 10 ball ring game tournament gets going. I posted information about it on SAPPA, and it would be great if a European player or two could show up there for it. (OH Darren, Daryl)

Someone posted in an earlier thread that Efren and Orcullo were planning to be there. Would love to see Alex get there too.

One thing for sure, that place will sure be crowded with railbirds, and it is a good sized place.

Who won the women's 9 ball event last weekend there at Shooters??

I watched the final five matches last night in Olathe and several of them came down to who made balls on the break and who did not. However, making balls on the break is not all luck, it is a function of finding the right speed to make balls and being able to repeat that exact speed as often as possible. That is why I think Corey is such a great player in watching several of his matchs on line he seems to have the best ability to find that speed and continually repeat it for the best results. I cannot wait for the big one in Olathe it should be really fun to see all those monsters in action.

Women's Result

Women's result:
1. Julia Gabriel
2. Kristin Werner
3. Jessica Friedman (sp?)

Side note: I also talked to SVB and since he'll be in the area he will also probably be trying to make the Alton, IL Midwest tour tournament (barring any other tournament scheduling conflicts) and also possibly the St. Louis one at "Just One More" in Sept if he's still in the area. Chad Vilmont also said he'll probably be at both and he usually is a pretty solid regular on the tour.

Congrats again to Chad, he played jam up!

Yeah Johnnyt...I guess all those world champions who played in Jacksonville last month were just lucky bangers huh?  Shane can keep up with the best anywhere...and proved it again last weekend! I'd bet on him to win, place or show, in the Big Show coming up in three weeks too!

Watching all the practicing, not just the tournament action, I gotta admit that Shane Van Boening is really on his game right now. I fully understand the coments about how equal the top 20 are at any one time, etc, but I will say again, SVB was a standout at Shooters last weekend..... Trust me. Having said that, Chad shot flawlessly in the finals to take home the cheese. ( But SVB won the first set 9-1)

Did AXZ do a write-up on this tournament? AZB usually covers all of the significant tournaments and this one qualifies, right? I'd love to see Chad get some recognition for this accomplishment.
