OMGWTF Challenge match blog!

I loved the Blog. It's probably the most serious dissertation OMG has ever done. Her analysis of how she prepared for the match could be a chapter in an instructional book. She proves the adage that smarts count for a lot. And one thing I will say for OMG is that she is SMART!

I remember playing her once in Santa Monica. We played a short race (to seven I think) for the time. And we played even. I had her buried something like 6-1, and she won a game or two. I could see the fire in her eyes, and knew I better win a game quick, because she was not about to give up. I realized at that moment that this girl was a competitor. If there is a way to win, she will find it. And that's what happened in Vegas.

Oh, and I loved the video from Derek. I had no idea until I watched it just now, that I would be mentioned. I had many offers to bet this match, and kept declining them because I knew nothing about cubc. And I didn't want to bet against Melinda, especially after watching cubc run racks in his video. At the last minute in Vegas someone approached me about the match, after I had just blown a few bucks betting on Shane. I didn't really know the guy that well, but my nose was open and he offered me some tempting odds (3-2). But just like the video, I made him post.

P.S. I won that bet, so dinner's on me Mel next time. :)

Great competitor - played her top game and got the cash

Congrats

BTW - I would have shook your hand even if I got beat out of 3K

3 lusty huzzas to OMGWTF for her entertaining detailed blog. I hope that she can get a meaningfull job utilizing her journalistic skills.

As for KFC, His pool table doesn't look double shimmed and that could have contributed to his downfall. I know that OMGWTF can shoot well on sub 4.50" pockets at the Hardtimes and Hollywood Billiards - this could have been a factor - KFC go shim your table - call Ernesto.

Jay,
OMG is a pool community treasure. When she decided to unmask herself with this 3k match she made hay when the sun was shining...LOL She did what every action player wants to do and that is come with the game to take down the cash. Out of the gate when I witnessed her center cut that long corner bank on the one ball it was game on....she never folded. Her heart is bigger than that guys head....I love the lady....what a great show TAR put on....

cubc never had a chance against a 1x2 POS case held together by duct tape..... heheheh

Scott <<== knows the REAL reason omgwtf doesn't carry a jump cue :D

I heart OMGWTF. In a purely platonic way, of course. Yeah. That's the ticket.

I'm glad she bowed to peer pressure (mine included!) and wrote up the challenge on her blog. If she hadn't, well, we all know about Los Angeles and riots...

I want to see a rematch, "she has the 7 for life" was my understanding that Cubc said that, anyone who makes that statment suggests that they are willing to play more than one set. "For life" to me dosent mean one set and out, it means flip for the break and keep playing or play again within a short period of time.

I really doubt CUBC want part of that match again.
Besides, Melinda is still getting better. Still has a huge upside to her.
You know what happens when you frequent Hollywood and Hard Times.

I kind of liked how the story ended. Take the $$$$ and run OMG. Johnnyt

You know what I really liked about all of this? Here we have this funny weblog on pool, and whether or not anyone believed half of what OMG wrote in the past, we all were witness to the greatest story her blog could have ever depicted!!!

Like everyone else that never met her before her blog, I couldn't tell you what I made of her writing. I've been around the game enough, but some of the things she wrote seemed a bit far fetched.

But then I met her. And whether it's the way she walks, talk, or plays, people just can't help approaching her. And even in Vegas, while she was trying to get some time in on the TARPIT table, during a week that over 5000 pool players from all walks of life gathered within a 1000 foot circle, people would still approach her (while practicing!!) as if they just couldn't tell what to make of her!

It was crazy to watch a grown man, another run of the mill pool player, approach her and almost touch her just to be near her or something, while she had her head phones on trying to just keep in her own moment. If she had backed up, she would have knocked into him, he would have said something stooooooopid, and she would have had yet another bit of fodder for her blog. I watched him and to this day, I can't for the life of me fathom what he possibly could have been thinking. And I can only believe this happens to her daily.

And then the match. ... you can't write a better piece for your blog. You just can't. He was up. He could have shut the door. He didn't. He waivered. She waivered. She caught him, passed him, and ran over him. Cut. Print. Turn out the lights.

Congratulations Melinda. You wowed me. I wish I had been able to stay right there. Right in your moment.

Fred
