One of the best pool movie clips of all time featuring Grady Seasons...

My favorite part of the whole movie for sure. I love it when they first walk in and Eddie say's " Do you smell what i smell??" and then Vincent say's, "Smoke???"

Funny but just the other day i rented The Color of Money just because i hadn't seen it in awhile. By far movie you can watch time and time again. And your right. Knowing the stories i heard about Kieth alone made you realize he didnt have to act. All Kieth had to do was be himself. Gret ajob Kiether... You have been immortalized in pool and that is something you should be very proud of

Hope you and JAM have a great Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Hmm, that's an interesting observation because he remembers a lot about it with me. Maybe you caught him at a bad moment.

Could be. Or it could be my memory. Now that I think about it, that might be hearsay. I remember my favorite moments though!

Speaking of Keith on film...I have an old VCR tape of him playing Dave Matlock at a tournament in Mississippi. It was from the 80's. They both play unbelievable pool. My friends Dad played in the tournament and recorded the match. I think it was the finals. Somehow I ended up with the tape. I used to watch it over and over when I first started playing at around age 14. I can still rememeber some of the shots in my mind's eye although I haven't watched it in years.

It was the Magnolia Open! :)

Thanks JAM! I am going to see if I can get it converted to DVD or something so that I can share it. I hadn't thought about it in a while. If I can do that, I will let you know. Keith may want to see it.

This thread prompted me to watch my DVD of the movie last night...for the 100th time, at least...

Kieth was definitely the best pool player "actor" of the show...

Dave Matlock? There is a name from the past. Is he still around? I would love to see a copy of that.

The only thing that I think that could have made it better is if Keith were allowed to smack Cruise in the back of the head and said "Pay up junior". :)

I love ya Keith, even today you continue to give the game some personality. Thanks!

matlock

yeah he still around he plays at shooters in olathe kanasas he still plays jam up. at one time i heard he was the best barbox player in the world 90's

I love it when Keith slams the rack and balls on the table when he has to rack for vince. Just amuses me for some reason. He really is a good actor.

I played Keith a few time and that's the way he moved when he racked the balls. Wasted no time and was ready for the next game. His hands were quick and smooth like a magician.

Cool!

I remember a good bar box ring game I watched one time. I wish I could have played.

Matlock, Archer, Daulton, Eugene Browning, Gene Cooper, and a few more in here and there.

Great game!

good catch

What was the spot? Vince made the 7 , 8 and 9?

Derek, that was one hell of a catch !! Never thought about him making the 7,8 and 9 till now. Yeah, i'm sure if we go back it will say what the spot was, but back in the day, I don't recall too many game spots... you gave up a ball or two or three. One of the reasons 9 ball was more of a gambling game, kinda like 1 pocket, because you can give up some balls and get an even game against the good players.

During a tournament at the Hardtimes, I was watching Kieth for the first time - when he came back to SoCal. I bet on him from the rail and was shocked to see that when he failed to run out and left an appearant out to the opponent, he would rake the balls and rack for the the next game.

If I had gotten a game/s on the wire, I would have rather that he would wait to see if the opponent would miss and win that game. This confused me. This was also before playing "safe" was prevalent - not his style.

Later, another player explained that by raking the balls, it denied the opponent time at the table to get in stroke - clever move; or was that just his style?

Later I noticed that Mark Tadd would do thee same thing.

Because of this, I believe, they required that each player play the game
out - for the benifit of those that bet on games?

Keith is the most entertaining player in the game - keen wit.

I can add a wee bit but not much.

When Keith was in his prime, there weren't too many videos being made of pool player matches. Though there were some homemade videos produced, the quality of the video and audio is a little lacking, compared to today's stuff.

That said, Accu-Stats has always been high quality and first class. I especially like Accu-Stats because they treat the pool players with respect and NEVER FORGET the players who have been supportive to their mission.

Accu-Stats is the pioneer for quality video pool matches, and I recommend them highly.

My all-time fave with Keith is the one when he played Jose Parica in the winner's bracker at the 2003 U.S. Open. If they had played the finals that night, Keith would have won the entire shebang.

You had to have been there to feel the electricity in the air. The entire Chesapeake Conference Center was rocking and rolling. Every single spectator had a smile on their face, laughing, cheering, and clapping. Accu-Stats labels it as "The most entertaining match that Accu-Stats has ever offered. Keith steals the show and the audience approval."

Of course, Jose got a little revenge the next day and knocked Keith out of the tournament. Keith came in third, pocketing 10 dimes. :)

Jam,
I just got the tape you recommended today. GREAT MATCH! I'm up to the part where they are tied 2 to 2. The quality of this dvd is great, The battle between the two is great. You can actually see the english and cue to cue ball position really well on each shot. The safeties are unbelievable. Keith's shot on the 2 ball in the match to tie was smoooth. I'm trying to get the house ready for Christmas but I can't stop watching it! Thanks, again. Hope you guys have a great Christmas!
