One Pocket is so slow....

I recall reading about an eight ahead race proposed in one pocket on this forum. Just thinking about it nearly put me to sleep.

One Pocket is so slow that...

...i once stepped into a time machine and entered "end of match" into the destination. The machine started shaking with "self-doubt" and denied my request and determined that this request was "unreasonable".

...while I was waiting for my opponent to shoot, a patron tried to pry the cue from my hand because he thought I was a "pool rack" mannequin.

...the wooded rack being used, actually "aged" to a prettier/darker tone than from when the match first started.

One pocket is so slow one match started while Windows 98 was popular and finished when Windows 8 came out !

It may be slow, but it is not unexciting. I once showed a lady friend the Accu-Stats video of Ronnie Allen playing JR Gay. She watched patiently through about six innings as they each ducked. Then JR left the edge of a ball and Ronnie rapped a bank in, broke the rack, and ran eight and out. My friend said to me simply, “Oh, now I get it!” She still says that one-pocket is the only pool game where she understands immediately what the player is trying to do.

Two or three years ago I was in the “practise room” at the DCC and was watching two top players practise their one-pocket with one another. Each one would put the other in jail, and then the other one would escape somehow and put the first player in a cell, and then the first player would somehow find a way out of that. This went on for about five minutes with half masses and everything else you could imagine. The man sitting next to me, whom I didn’t know, turned to me and said, “And there are people who don’t think that one-pocket is unexciting.” I said, “Yeah, they’re the same people who think that championship chess tournaments are boring.” He was delighted. It turned out that he was not only a big pool fan but also a master chess player!

One Pocket is so slow that when a guy put a quarter on the table as we were starting a game tonight, we all started laughing out loud.

One pocket is so slow that my friend texted me at 5:30 to shoot at 8:00 tonight,
and Chip and Brandon were on their 2nd streamed game.

When my boy walked in the door at like 7:55, they were on their 2nd game.
True story.

I love one pocket... but it's so slow, I have to take the short bus to the pool hall.

It's slower than the wait for Santa Claus coming to a 5 year old on Christmas eve.

Merry Christmas, 1-P'ers! And a Happy New Year (shooting your two shots in 2014)

One pocket is soooooooo slow....

When I started my first game, I believed in Santa Claus.....
...by the third shot, I knew the whole story.

By the 7th shot, I found out that I WAS Santa Claus.

One pocket is so slow, that you gauge the progress of the game by watching the AZB user Apocalypse2013 change/update his screenname between each shot.
