For the 3rd time this year, my paypal account has been suspended.

This is all because large amounts of money have just gone in there and the poxy trigger for the investigation is set at $5000. Well, like the other two times....I have sold a few high end cues. Thats what paypal is for.....so people can pay you. Something which I have pointed out to them, time after time but still, my account gets frozen pending an investigation.

I am utterly sick to death of paypal. Its Christmas, I need my account money NOW. Its not unusual activity, thousands of dollars go in and out of my account all the time.

Paypal......shove it up your ass and get a grip on reality. I am not laundering money, I am trying to buy and sell high end cues (as I have explained and demonstrated a million times before) and you are making my life a living hell.

I know that some people open a bank account that is only used to receive funds from Paypal transfers. That way, if/when your account is frozen do to a PP investigation, it doesn't freeze your main checking account. When money is received via PP to your designated bank account, you immediately transfer it out of there and into your main bank account. It's not a scam or anything, it just keeps PP from locking up all of your money while they flip a coin to determine the outcome of their investigation.

PP is definitely not perfect. As a general rule when sending money, always use a credit card through paypal, and file a claim as soon as you think something is wrong with your transaction. I learned the hard way...

Hi Si,

For anything over a few hundred dollars I really prefer an International Bank transfer.
There's a little extra trust involved because you have to give the sender of the money
a lot of details from your bank account. However it is way cheaper than paypal since
you get a much butter exchange rate on the money and the fees are more like 2%.
With the higher end cues alot of trust is involved anyway.

I assume you get paid in $ and have to transfer to pounds, if that's the
case bank transfer will save you close to 5% total.
It does take a few days for the transfer to be complete, but so does transferring money out of paypal.

I get a mixture of payment methods from around the world. Bank (Swift) Transfer, personal cheque, Western Union, money order and Paypal.

I suppose its all about being flexible for the buyer. When a buyer asks if I take paypal, I always say yes. From now on its going to be yes but I would prefer a different method cause paypal sucks ass.

I shouldn't have to go through this crap every 3-4 months. I have had a paypal account since the dawn of time, 99% of my business with paypal is cue related. Nothing has changed so why don't these jerks leave me alone to pay my exorbitant paypal fees and take the pittance of whats left and buy more cues? Man.......I am feeling it today. I feel sorry for my staff :angry:

One of my friends, a prominent cue dealer, had more than $10,000 "frozen" by his credit card processor for several months because of some similar excuse.

PayPal should have some sort of three-way mediation/verification system for large amount transactions. They should also WARN their users that doing large transactions could trigger this and give explicit and clear instructions as to how to expedite the situation.

People forget that PayPal is basically unregulated.

For me they have always been great but I dread the day when this will happen to me too.

I hope this gets resolved quickly for you!

Sorry to hear of your trouble with PayPal and hope they fix it asap !
This and many other stories about PayPal make me wish to never use it again .

Sorry to hear about your bad dealings with Paypal, mate! I just listed some stuff on Ebay over the weekend, and now they're making a big push to force you to use Paypal (they don't even have any provisions for money orders or cashier's checks!). Craig's List and money orders are looking better all the time...

I'm in a the same boat...money stuck in Paypal. I now try to avoid using paypal as much as I can and opts for Money order...it take longer but it's worth the wait IMO. paypal is good for small payment and good for transfering money from US to Canada for me. It's probably the only reason I use them as I can find another way to transfer money from my US bank to my Canadian bank.

Its certainly not proving good for transfer of fees for high end cues thats for sure, Duc. This must be the 6th or 7th time I have experienced this. 3 times this year alone!!!!!!!!

How about the BANK OF AZ??? Lets set up our own on-line payment service. How hard can it be? Just a thought........................

Bank transfers at my bank cost the recipient a flat $ 12.00 dollars .I have had no issues what so ever having them done.It beats the hell out of the Paypal fees.
Paypal's phone # is 402-935-2050 & you actually get a living person.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys. I hate how much control paypal have over you. Whilst it may seem that it is a quick and simple way to pay and receive money, its the background stuff that can really hurt you. Thats my money in that account and as far as I'm concerned they have no right whatsoever to deny me access to it. B~sta'ds.....every last one of them.

I have been hearing more and more about Paypal problems...I was lucky i purchased 2 collector cars thru Paypal with no problems from 2 different people...However ALOT of collector car people are fed up with the many problems of Paypal the last couple years things have changed for the worse...I wish you well with your problem...:smile:
