You obviously know nothing about me.
"By the way, what have YOU done lately to try and help change this industry for the better...get out of bed?"
Actually, Calired is a total pimp who has been doing a ton of work putting out some of the best videos out there for AZ'ers to watch the last year.
I don't know if he needed to throw out the bragging comment since enough people have verified your work and talent in installing tables, but Calired is a good man too.
You two need to chill and have a cold one together...I think you'd get along.
"I'm a world beater" says it all, it just so happens to be that you only live in a small, little corner of the world...and it's a BIG world, and you're no world champion player to boot!
Excellent I agree with you on something lol. That is my whole point! There is no consistency in the playing conditions. However, if you where to look you will find that the higher percentage of tables do not have tight pockets therefore players will become accustomed and SHAPE there game around larger pockets. Subsequently, if you all of a sudden introduce tight pockets these types of players will be at a disadvantage to players accustomed to these conditions or with a playing style that suits the conditions.
what's with the hostility between these two groups![]()
Weird how a simple post about the pocket size for the upcoming SVB/Alex event turned into a discussion of...
* Earl's behavior,
* how some guy measured his table incorrectly,
* how some people give more to the industry than others,
* how a valley bartable with 4" pockets does not impede position play,
* how pool will never get the respect golf enjoys,
* how self-promotion is equivalent to motivating the industry,
* how Calired needs to get off his ass & do more for the industry (LOL),
* how JCIN is disrespectful (LOL),
* are pool balls 1-7/8" or 2-1/4"? Poor photo's do that.
* how we shouldn't cut the arms off boxers,
* how different boxing styles compare,
* how the IPT gave Sigel an inherent advantage,
* how young guys like SVB like Diamond tables, old farts like Archer like Gold Crowns
I agree with you totally on all of that. This game needs standards and consistency in the equipment, I just hope when we finally get that the equipment is properly challenging for the professional game such that we finally get a chance to see some seperation at the top of the rankings. I would be kinda choked if we got the standardization and consistency and the pockets were decided to be 4.5 inches for pro play, IMO that would just be the signal to me that this game is going nowhere in my lifetime and that would be a sad thing.
I would honestly like to see a shift to 10-foot Diamond tables inside of the next 10 or so years after some initial trials with the upcomming 10-foots that Diamond is making. Probably 4.25 inch pockets is realistic, although 4.125 would make me even happier and really push the pro game to places most people involved in this sport have never dreamed it could go.

Is it just me???
I can't figure out where this thread went wrong...
JCIN didn't bad mouth or disrespect cobra in my eyes in any way.
So cobra what the hell is your problem?
You should be happy TAR 21 is gonna use rails made by you.
Am I the only one who see's this?
Who is going to pay for this shift? All the bussted out pool rooms, or tournment promoters who cant make the pay-outs, or the wealthy players?
Like pool will ever be standardized there is 5,000,000 Frankenstein GC's out there to replace
sorry i don't understand the point of using tight pockets. you cannot play half of your positional shots such as potting a ball with force down a rail with side and moving the white off of 4 cushions. Consequently the game changes drastically and you end up resorting to playing the table rather than the balls.
and talking about skill is rubbish as most players are not familiar with these types of conditions and simply end up at a disadvantage because they don't usually play with these types of pockets which results in never seeing their true potential. its just a novelty it might as well be a carom table. anyway that's just my beef because i have played weeks upon weeks of competitions with normal pockets and having great results only to waste money going to a venue with tight pockets and lose first round because the tables are not regulation due to some non-player thinking it is more challenging for the better players to have really really tight pockets!!.
