I can't thank everyone enough who supported the show! I had a great time hanging out with friends, meeting new ones, and being surrounded by some of the most beautiful pool cues and awesome memorabilia ever. I think DJ and I both feel like kids in a candy store every year.

And a HUGE thank to the owners and crew at The Broken Rack for hosting the show this year. The room looked great, the service was impeccable, and the food was delicious. Thank you So much!

OK.. so on to things worth mentioning...
First, how cool was it that Barrenbrugge shows up out of the blue.. with cues!!?? And, I have to say Dave and his wife were hilarious and super nice. I wish I could have taken good pictures of Dave's work but my camera was just not capable of taking pics of the crazy detail work Dave does. It's unbelievable!

And another surprise attendee was AZ's own Brad Simpson (aka Cuaba), author of the Blue Book of Cues. Really nice guy who came to meet AZ'ers *cough* HUSTLE *cough* and enjoy the weekend is the SF bay area.

Big thank you to Tommie (Tommie1351) and Michael who've supported the show every year. You guys rock! I don't think I know anyone who supports pool and pool players more than Tommie. He's a class act and an incredible guy.

The Unity cues Tommie brought are probably the best deal going on handmade, American made cues!

Antonio (Benfica) and John and Alysia (sp?) from Kamui tips really know how to set up a table. And John is so incredibly knowledgeable about tips it's unreal. You can ask him anything about tips and he will tell you to the Nth degree what you want to know. Oh, and I got a sneak peek of some new cases Kamui is coming out with. This one will be for Mika! Tony brought some incredible butterfly cues by Steve Klapp. And John brought a beautiful tribute to Kerry Zylr.

West Coast Cue Show

Jim Pierce is awesome. That's how I start a sentence when talking about Jim Pierce! His cues were amazing, The Pierce posse was awesome, and his excitement and enthusiasm for pool is unmatched. He really loved all the entries for his new logo so much so that he saved all of them on his laptop as a screensaver AND had his table set up with a Greek theme to match his new logo! I want a Pierce 'Pi' shirt!!!

OK, so I have to tell you a story why Jim is awesome.... one of the cue makers wasn't going to be able to attend the show because his spray booth broke and he wasn't going to be able to spray finish his cues in time. So Jim, drove up there, got all the cues and worked for THIRTY SIX hours straight helping spray, buff, and polish cues so he could come to the show. Who does that???? Jim Pierce does!

If you haven't seen Jim's work yet... do yourself a favor and check it out.

West Coast Cue Show

There was just so much to see and absorb it's hard to recall everything. Pro Player and pool historian George Michaels filled the entire corner of the pool room with so many cues, posters, signs, stands, and catalogs it was crazy! If you ever need to design and decorate a historic room in your house that's the man to talk to for sure.

Jay Helfert... what can you say? Jay is the man! But we know that. I did find out that Jay loves the old classic cues over the newer cues. And Jay is pretty much willing to step up and get into action at ANY TIME!

Jay checking out the collection of Szamboti's, Balabushka's, Tascarella's, and Murrells that Kenny Koo (Flyingsnail) brought.

Speaking of Kenny Koo.... OMG the man is truly the exotic hide MASTER! The quality and choices of hides he has is unbelievable. I learn something new every time I see him. And Kenny's wife is so incredibly sweet and loves pool too. She plays with her own Tad cue that she doesn't let Kenny mess with.. at all!

Crown City Corey was in the house on the front table showing off his Carmelli cues and talking pool. He's doing a lot to support pool and get projects in the works for a new West coast pro tour. I'm pretty sure he was driving straight home (8 hours) after the show to do more work! Thanks Corey for coming all the way up here.

Joey Bautista (aka Joeyincali) came up from LA also to deliver cues and hang out. OK.. the cue Joey made for DJ is ridiculous! I'm sure DJ will do a write up on it so I won't say too much about it. All I can say was that it was like Christmas morning all freaking day long for DJ!

Looks like a Nice Room to have a show, maybe if I can get the date of Next Years Show earlier I can come up from the land of Dry HEAT!

My personal 'blow me away' cues was by Richard Chudy. I can't even explain the amount of artistry that he is capable of doing. He's somewhere between a cue maker, jeweler, metallurgist, wood nut, and artist. My personal favorite cue of the show was an ALL ivory, ridiculous cocobolo, and gold ringed cue. RIDICULOUS! Chudy also brought some plane jane cues to the show at some great prices. Oh and yes, his cues play jam up!

Here is some ridiculous cocobolo...

And thanks to Duane (Lazerrus) for supporting the show again. I hope someone took pictures of the cues he brought. The Lee Peppers Maple cue is stunning! Every detail of the cue is perfect. Everyone who passed by instantly stopped to look at it. And the matching wood case was beautiful too.

Last but not least, I can't thank DJ enough for all his support and enthusiasm. Without him, none of this would be possible. But sadly.. I hate him. Because I'm painfully jealous of his new Joey cue. I still don't want to talk about it. Whatever!

Yes a big thank you to both Rex & DJ for keeping it alive. You guys are the best.:ok: The LP Curly Maple Cue did get a lot of attention. Thanks Rex. Also I too was very impressed with the Joey cue. I was stunned at how well that cue hit!

Hustle?

Actually I got hustled by that guy on my left. He got in Jay's pocket too.

I had a great time. It was good to see some old AZ friends and meet some new ones.

Great job putting on the show. Hope I can make it back next year, and yes, I'll want a rematch.

Rex,

Great review of the show! The pictures and captions are wonderful, and it looks like a great time was had by all.

I recently saw the Chudy box cue, and found it a hard one to put down. I barely escaped!

You had a superb eclectic mix of cues, memorabilia and people that made the day a memorable one. I wish I could have made the trip, but had a conflict.

Again, congratulations for the successful day, and thanks for all the hard work to put such a show on. These pictures really capture the moments!

Take care,

Will Prout

I want to thank everyone who came out to support pool yesterday at the 3rd WCCS. Rex, your report is really awesome and captures the real tenor of the show and all of the fun we had. It was great to meet Cuaba, Cory, and Dave B. It was a great show and the Broken Rack was a perfect venue.

Everyone who has participated over the last two years and three shows know that the goal of the show is to get folks acquainted with the singular force that drives cuemakers to create the functional art that makes us all followers of this unique craft. We all saw cues at the show that were truly amazing, and got to meet many of the guys who made them. There were people from all parts of the pool spectrum, and this is what makes this show unique.

Rex, great job again this year, buddy.

I am stoked about next year already!

Thanks for the report and pics. Do you have good pics of the LP Curly Maple Cue you could post?

Great pix.
I had a blast.
Thank you to Kenny and his wife Caroline for being great hosts.
We had a great breakfast and dinner. And midnite pool.
I finally saw Dave's cues and was just amazed at his rings.
There were so many cues that were just jaw-dropping to me.
Kenny's great cuemakers' collection was something else.
I was happy to have delivered Kenny and DJ's cues. Nothing like delivering little boys their toy guns.
I'm looking forward to next year's show as well.

Great pics & reviews. Congrats to Rex & DJ for putting on such a great event for all.
Enough of the hogwash, DJ I want to see the ''Joey'' cue. lol
Joey who paid for dinner you or Kenny Koo?
Glad everyone had a great time & got home safely.

I had the pleasure to play and hit with one of Joeys cue and I look forward to get a cue from Joey very soon. His cues play insane and Joey is a super underrated cuemaker and super nice guy as well.
