Please read this post from TvMike before trashing his good name and reputation!!!!

I feel

I feel that i shouldnt pay fore the ustream or any other thing over the internet.

So basically, paying for a pool PPV is a "crap shoot"? Anybody forking up their "hard earned money" is just taking a gamble?

I haven't paid for a PPV yet. I think I'll wait for all the bugs to get worked out before I take this "gamble".

Depending on the viewers level of technical ability it certainly can be. 90+% of all streaming problems are on the viewer end. Everyonce in awhile a Content Delivery Network has issues or a host locations bandwidth has problems.

I don't know where the quotes come from as I never said any of that but I am guessing by the tone of your post that you are indeed correct in that you probably should not buy any online PPV's.

How is it a gamble when most reputable streamers refund viewers' money when things go wrong? TAR has always made things right and Mark said in another thread he'd refund viewers' money as well.

HUGE gamble.

Why don't you drive right up to where the action is happening and watch it live. I bet you will find a 25 dollar pay per view is a pretty good deal.

Lets stop all the fighting and get to the meat of this entire situation, many of use feel like we were bent over a pool table making a shot and in the process physically assaulted!!!!!!!!!

As a business man myself I can honestly say that things certainly do not always go right, I mean shit happens. But, how you treat your customers when these things happen will increase your busines in the future or destroy it. I have lost money also, but that factor never controls my actions where my customers are concerned and it never will!!;)

It doesn't matter what Mike, Joe or Kentucky Fried Fred said, we the customers got screwed, and we did not even get a reach around!!!:p

I don't care who does it get the refunds rolling, I bought my ticket on MikeTV, MikeTV streamed the event, MikeTV Advertised the event, So Mike where ever you are get it done!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!;)

You want to play with the big boys, stand up like one and do the right thing or your credibility will forever suffer for your inactions!!!:)

IMO, a good solution to satisfy those who lost out with the PPV is to offer a refund or give them the content that was recorded of the match via online download. If I paid for it and did not get what I paid for but was sent an email offering the digital download of the whole match I would be more than happy to receive it.

If you do not have the ability to offer the digital download I can help you do that, you could always burn the match on DVDs and send those to people also. I have never been for PPV and have always streamed free, nothing wrong with doing the PPV but it seems like its not that good for sponsors who are involved because your viewership is cut down from thousands to a couple hundred.

I like how Justin has handled problems with PPV, going to streaming free when it does not work out and for the unhappy customers they get refunded. I saw the Ustream PPV option and thought it was cool to be able to be able to do this but so many variables make mishaps slightly possible.

I would like to see TAR put all the matches they have in the can on Ustream, just broadcast and record it live privately, then put a price of say $2.99 or whatever to watch the match via Ustream recorded PPV. Would take time but might make a good deal of money, lots of gems in those hard drives.

Somehow I am reminded of Kevin Trudeau. He poured millions of dollars into pool, trying to create something positive. He was misinformed from the start by his "handlers," thus ended up losing millions of dollars. He's still a bad guy today in some pool circles. He tried, lost millions, he failed, and he's a pool pariah.

In this instance with TVMike, there is no doubt in my mind that he is going to be stuck big time, as are those who hosted this event. I'm not sure who put up the 10 dimes, but they're stuck, too. Somebody had to pay for Johnny, Shawn, Nick, and Earl's expenses as well.

I realize losing $25 sucks a big weenie when you're promised to see an action match like Johnny vs. Earl, with all the hype via threads and posts that occurred in advance.

The only thing I am saying is these organizers tried, and it just didn't turn out the way it was anticipated due to technology.

I think there is no question they will have to refund the 25 bucks to all those who paid.

One thought is they could offer a raffle for a high-end pool product, maybe an autographed banner of this event, a personalized DVD set with autographs, or a cue case or a cue stick. The organizers could ask those who did pay the 25 bucks if they would want their names to be entered in a raffle for $25 for one of the above-referenced prizes or somethign similar.

This is just one entrepreneurial thought I have at 7:40 a.m. If those who paid their $25 did not want to enter the raffle, then they could ask for their refund.

Why offer a raffle? Send the customers DVD's of the match. that would settle it for me.

I see it like this, Ustream is sketchy at best, even if you're paying for it. Anyone that pays to watch something on Ustream is gambling on being able to watch the entire event. I wouldn't pay a dime to watch anything on Ustream, it's not trustworthy.

I know Mike and know that he realllly wants to please the pool community. He is trying and he is learning as he goes. At least he is going out of his way to bring a product to the pool community. When I have visited Michigan and have seen Mike, talked to him, and watched him put a stream together, it is obvious that he isn't making money from this {yet}. I wish other people could see what I have seen. If they did, I really feel that more people would give him a little slack.

In Justin's own words: "Live production for paying customers is not for the faint of heart. I still learn every time we do one.

The saying "The devil is in the details" was never more apt. Worst part is in streaming you can do everything right and still fail."

I made my comment based on these statements, so I'll wait until the bugs get worked out, thank you !!!

Well said, and I agree with you! :)

Good points, and I also agree with you about the DVDs. :)
