thanks

first of all alex is awesome and frankly i dont want to play him all around.
for anyone to even ask who would win is an honer and flattering for sure.
ill say this though if we did play an all around it would be closer than some people on here think.
he might win but he would know i was there.
i would try him a 1500 point match of 14.1 .

Alex IS good!

terry you should know this last may alex was playing cards every day not pool and he beat shane easy.

Ssssssshhhhhhhhh! Don't say that too loud! I ain't figured that out yet and don't have an answer to that just yet. Them fellas at NASA are going to be conducting some tests to see if The Lion is totally human or not. Let's wait until we here from them before we draw conclusions.

And lets not forget, John was out riding dirt bikes every day and he won the DCC 1P event easily! :)

Seriously though, I wish you hadn't remembered that about Alex and SVB.

PLEASE! Tell me you're not trying to start a genetics thread again?

Alex hasn't been playing much lately, but I still choose Alex.

Everyone is saying that Alex hasn't been playing much, etc.... Alex has quit pool 3-4 different times for months on end only to come back, hit balls for a week and play just like he used to, if not better.... That is raw talent! Let anyone else that anyone thinks is in Alexs' league do that and see how long it takes for them to get to full steam.... IIRC, a couple years ago when Alex/SVB went at it several times Alex had just come off a poker binge then.

I hope he comes off another one at the end of next month. DCC is great but isn't the same without Alex running around laughing and taking people's money.

your good

Alex. That is all. If John is interested in this game, I would like to get a bet down.

im going to say something i might regret.
anybody on earth i will play one of the following games. onehole,14.1 or 9ball.
what im saying is you can take anybody on earth and have them put up money and then i will decide which game of those 3 that i will play them.

they dont decide on the game i do .
if somebody would like to take the top say 10 players in the world i would be thrilled to play all ten the game of my choosing.

if thats not good action i dont know what to say.

by the way when i say anybody i mean efren, ralf ,alex, busty, cliff, orcullo etc. thats anybody on earth just so there is no misunderstanding.

i might lose but ill play ,see you at derby

That's terrible action because you're just going to pick 14.1 no matter who agrees to play you. Why would you even throw such a stupid "challenge" out there. Just post that you'll play anyone in the world 14.1 and be done with it.

Change the offer to one-pocket, 8-ball, 9-ball or 10-ball and it would be better action then the shit you posted. You won't do that though because you obviously don't want to gamble with anyone at anything but a practice game.

The pressure would be on John.

no disrespect to john s but alex wins.
9 ball or 10 alex bib fav in long match
14.1 very close john might be a lil fav
one pocket close but alex fav.

They are both incredibly talented. Don't forget that John has run - what was it 400+ -- balls when practicing 14.1...and more than once??
BUT, no disrespect to Mr. Schmidt... that was just practicing.

As a player and a gambler Alex is just relentless. In tough situations - which will happen often enough in any pool discipline - Alex has a huge edge.
He's a favorite to make that game winning tough shot ,and then run out in a blaze of glory.
He's a favorite to execute a killer safety double hill than John would be to do that to him.

I think they're upbringing is a factor to - which applies to all Filipinos.
Alex grew up "real" poor until he moved to Toronto when he was 14.
As a child he was playing slumdog gang leaders... beating them consistently until they ran him out of the country.

John is like me, a spoiled American who never had to worry about such things.

The only way John wins if Alex has been playing poker for along stretch, running bad and shows up burnt out and rusty.

oh and one more thing I forgot to mention ...I used to know Alex but have'nt talked to him in years . But I do know that he is so into Poker ( a huge mistake in my opinion) That I''l put real money on him not showing up at the Derby!!!

Poker is played at such a high level by so many internet college kids with strong math skills. I cant see how Alex , with no high school math could hold his own in pro poker tourneys.

terry you should know this last may alex was playing cards every day not pool and he beat shane easy.

I dont think he beat shane easy. Wasnt the score like 100-94. Plus isnt shane still up on alex between all the sessions. Dont get me wrong i wouldnt bet against alex.

I think there are at least a few that he would rather play one pocket instead of 14.1....

You can run your chops good but you can't read good. He said one pocket, 14.1 or 9 ball. HE would pick the game per the opponant.

In other words, if he played Ralf, he would probably play 1P. If he played Yang, he would probably pick 14.1. If he played Efren, he may pick 9 ball.
It's pretty easy to understand really. Match the game with the opponant.

It's always amusing that every time a great pro player interacts with us here, there is ALWAYS someone who can't respond without digs, cuts, insults or other junk like you just posted. Everybody but YOU showed both these great champions much respect. Everybody but YOU.

And it's amazing that they keep coming back.

Super-duper nova, why don't YOU find anyone in the world to play John, back them with YOUR money then post again if he turns you down and "doesn't want to gamble with anyone at anything other than a practice game."???

I'll bet you YOU are all talk.

I can't stand John so I'm not going to show him any respect. This is still a public forum and I don't have to follow what others do. Why is it that John is allowed to bash people on here but anytime I say something bad about him I'M the bad guy?

As for betting my own money, I would be more then happy if I had it. Sadly I have a family to support so my money goes towards what's important. I am friends with Larry Nevel (as most people know) and we've tried to make a game between Larry and John (Larry has a backer with plenty of money to bet) and John always finds excuses to not play. John isn't going to play anyone that, on paper at least, he isn't favored against. Look at who he has played recently...Harrimann and Bartram. Both are great, great players, but ON PAPER John is the favorite.

Now if someone agrees to John's stipulations and he makes a game that isn't 14.1 and proves me wrong I will be the first to get on here and admit that I'm wrong and apologize. Until that happens though I'm sticking with my original statement, he doesn't want to play anyone at anything but a practice game. Those are my opinions and I'm entitled to them. You don't like them, then don't read my posts.

Straight pool is a practice game? Thats too funny. Congratulations, you've just shown the whole az community how ignorant you are.

I've made the same statement before and people like Larry Nevel and Chris Bartram have agreed with me. So I guess they are ignorant too.

Well, why not have Larry practice a little straight pool and take John up on his offer? Larry with his prodigious talent, would learn it quickly and probably rain hundreds at will.

Just for the record, Larry has run over 200 playing straight pool. (I didn't see it, but he told me)

I think John didn't want to play him because of his temper.
