Pool Wars by Jay Helfert

Just got an update from Bookmasters, who is printing Pool Wars. The text has been completed and they are running the covers now. That takes one day and the binding takes a day. The limited edition of 500 should be shipped by Friday. That will take 4-5 days to get here from Ohio. Then I can begin sending out books.

Thanks for your patience. My goal is to get everyone who has made an advance order their book by the end of the month. It should be close. No over and under bets please.

I know many of you ordered way back during the last week in February, so it will be 4-5 weeks for delivery of your book. I apologize to you for that and will try to make it up to you some way. At that time, I thought I would have books in hand between March 15th and 20th. It has taken nearly an extra week for this printing process to take place. It was due to two minor corrections we made to the proofs. That threw us back several days.

Thanks again. I hope you enjoy it.

Bumpage for post 388, looking forward to it Jay.....can't wait....but I will....as long as it takes :p

You know, you hit the nail on the head. I am excited about seeing my book in print. It took me long enough to write one. I actually started writing this book in December of 2007.

My first book, "The Zen Of Pool" I started over ten years ago and I don't know if I'll ever finish it. It's about a million things that are not in any instructional book, that I learned in the last 40 years. Some are just little tips and others are major bits of knowledge that will give you an advantage at the table. A lot has to do with the mental side of pool that is rarely discussed.

:

Now that sounds like a book you need to get done.

Pool Wars is coming! Pool Wars is coming! I'm totally jazzed. I just got the long awaited e-mail from the publisher that nine cartons of books were shipped to me today. I can't wait to get my hands on one of them and read it cover to cover.

I've probably read and re-read this book a hundred times already. I might be able to tell you all the stories by memory now. IN ORDER! ;)

Can't wait to get my copy Jay!! You have to wait on telling all the stories until we all have our copies!! Again, congratulations!!

Thanks again for all your patience. If you check my post #175 on this thread I said that I expect books to be in my hands by March 20. Well, it looks like the delay with the corrections to the proofs moved everything back one week. Now I expect the books to be here by the 27th. They are en route to me now from Ohio. So the overall delay is only one week, not all that bad.

I know some people ordered a book as long as 3-4 weeks ago, but it was with the understanding they were getting an early Limited Edition copy. That is still the case, as the early orders will get the lowest numbered books. I will do my best to honor all the requests for a specific numbered books when possible. I will be mailing like crazy all next week until I get caught up with the orders, which number nearly 400 right now.

If you ordered a book in the last week or two, you may have a little longer wait because I'm sending them out in the order that they came in to me. The people who ordered in the last week of February and the first week of March will be getting the first deliveries. Hopefully, EVERYONE will have their copy of Pool Wars by early next month. It's coming! I promise you that!

I had to dust off McCumber's. You better hurry up!

David wrote a great book (Playing Off The Rail) about his long road trip with Tony Annigoni. It's a classic read, just like Jon Wertheim's treatise on Danny Bassavich (Running The Table) and Jerry Forsyth's book about Danny Diliberto (The Road Player). These are the books I hope that Pool Wars compares favorably with.

The other must reads for pool fans is The Bank Shot about Fats and McGoorty by Bob Byrne's. Hustler Days by R.A. Dyer is another classic pool tale about Fats, Wimpy and Jersey Red. These have been my favorite pool books of all time, although I've read them all including Buddy and Cornbread's stories which, sad to say, are just not as well written as the above books.

Yeah, yeah, yeah...read 'em all more than once. Pool Wars? Not once yet.

just curious jay is my uncle swanne in your book?

I'm sure there is a photo of him. Not sure if I included a Swanee story or not. I have a couple of good ones. I had too many stories for this book. Some of them didn't make the cut. :frown:

I paypal'd my money to you today Jay, I can't wait to soak up more of your knowledge!

Did I make it in the Limited Edition group?

Yes you did. Appox. 400 sold out of the first 500. Still some left.

P.S. I don't know if you'll learn much from this little tome, other than I did my share of gambling in my formative years. And even got out with the dough a few times.
