I recently welcomed a new member and suggested he heed the input of a few members. My list was not my complete list-I can't remember them all.

I wonder if you have your own 'must read' list of posters and if you would share it/with maybe a short comment as to their specialty topic(s) or area(s) of expertise that make them a favorite of yours.

This isn't meant to be a popularity poll-but rather an expression of appreciation to our long list of knowlegeable and generous members for their ongoing contributions to our community.

A listing doesn't mean an ordering of merit-it's just a list.

Atta-boys/ladies are in order for a lot of folks that post here.

Thanks to them and you in advance. (We may have to name them-since most of them will not blow their own horn).

Take care

Oh my.... This thread ought to be fun to watch. This list(s) will be expansive. I'll go ahead and give it a shot, and after I read other posts I'm sure I'll do the head-slap thing and say "why did I forget that person?"

RandyG
Jay Helfert
Shooting Arts
JoeyA
PoolTchr
Neil
Scott Lee
SK Custom Cues
Dr. Dave
Grey Ghost
Roger Long

And with that, this list will become very long... Watch the posts come in on this one. Great folks one and all, and all have been very helpful to me on these forums, either directly or indirectly.

So I'm really sorry that I rained all over your thread, and effectively killed it, 3RAILKICK. I have that effect sometimes. :(

I really thought you would get a bunch of responses. Maybe there was another similar thread in the past. Any of those folks are awesome resources, and I'm certain there are dozens more that I didn't list.

I would try to claim the title of "thread-killer", but I think someone already used it in their sig lines...

Hey for what ever its worth your list is nearly the same as mine if I were to post one, and yes there was a thread recently similar to this one. I do believe I have killed as many threads as anyone on this board:o.

When it come to identification of older cues I would have to add the following:

mrhoppe - Brunswick cues modern to antique, he is also the forum's foremost authority concerning any and all Hoppe Titlist cues, hence his name mrhoppe.

Jayman - This gentleman is the forum's foremost authority on Adam Custom Cues, Helmstetter Custom Cues and all other's made by Adam Custom cues. This gentleman is also an expert on all older Viking cues.

Tate - Most knowledgeable poster where any of the original Palmer Cues are concerned anywhere. This gentleman is also knowledgeable about older Brunswick cues

Tates Website the Palmercollector.com

http://www.palmercollector.com/Index.html

All these gentleman are a wealth of knowledge on cue identification their expertise goes beyond the area's I have listed above and they are always willing to share their knowledge. I have personally learned something from each and everyone of these gentleman.

I think your list is a good start although I personally don't agree with all of them. A couple of additions off the top of my head are:

SJM - probably one of the most prolific posters here. I always try to read his posts.
Tate - not far off from SJM
OBCues - Royce Brunell - Since I know him I always look to read his posts, because I am interested in his opinion. Unfortunately, he doesn't post a lot; however, you should listen to what he has to offer.

Those are some people when I see there posts, I know I must read.

I agree with a lot of the names you have above, particularly Neil, because he really goes out of his way to help the board, IMO.

Just a couple of more names to add to the list.

The longer he sticks around, the more he'll get to recognize the usernames of those that give great advice. There are some not mentioned that give great advice despite that they don't post often, yet their advice goes a long way.

Anytime these names come up I will generally read the thread

Jay Helfert
Jerry Forsyth
Fast Lenny
Jcin
Scott Lee
Nathan Dumoulin
John Schmidt
Mark Griffin
Roy Steffenson
Pro9dg

there are more but those are the main ones I can think of right now.

This is my own personal way of using the forum for information (most of it pertaining to professional billiards)

I would have to say that without a doubt, Jay Helfert is probably the person I would go to and ask about anything goin on in the pool world. Jerry Forsyth I think is in that same category. Bob Jewett is the kind of person who I would ask concerning pool knowledge. Patrick Johnson is another worth mentioning.

When it comes to cue making, Chris Hightower stands out the most as far as inspiration and cue making education. So does Blud.... but honestly, Dick and KJ, Bob Dzuricky and Dave Barenbrugge, also have my respect when it comes to experience and knowledge in these forums. Tony Zinzola, Mike Webb, Leon Sly, Scott Gracio, Murray Tucker, Joey in Cali, RAT, sheldon, Eric Crisp, John Rocker, and a few others also must be mentioned when it comes to sincere help and just a plain good attitude....

As far as cue knowledge, Martin (jazznpool), Chris (tate), Will Prout, The Mars Man, Fatboy, deanoc, Mr. Hoppe, Brad Simpson........

When it comes to jigs, or anything to do with machining, Bob Dzuricky, Pete Tonkin, Tom Hassos and Tom Migliore...... I have to give Mc2 a thumbs up as well...

Cases, John Barton is the man..... of whom I've been fortunate enough to have had a chance to meet....

Some good friends I have made on here, Tommyd1, ftgokie, greyghost, just to name a few, and not really any enemies in my short time here..... overall I have come to really admire a great deal of people here.... what's best is when I get a chance to meet an AZer in person....

Well there are a few that I always read, and quite frankly, Im shocked nobody else has mentioned them

crawfish (the most entertaining mofo on this forum, period)
NewStroke( close runner up to the most entertaining mofo)
Corvette(i dont know the damn numbers, lol)
cubswin (if he ever starts a thread )
manwon (this dude know his shiznit)
Duane Tuula (although he doesnt post much, he has a vast amount of pool knowledge, and he will share it with almost anyone who asks him to. Hell of a guy!)
If I think of more, I will add them. Now, its time for more beer

I AM HONORED TO BE IN SUCH EXALTED COMPANY
Doug Gordon

Bob Jewett

I can't believe it took 15 posts for this name to come up. I met him once. Genuinely nice man with a ton of pool knowledge.

You gotta love Dr. Dave 'cause the camera don't lie .

There's too many to name. Heck, I just got outta bed and my brain's not fully functioning yet !!!
