Rhea the new Chapter, without Gene

I actually got in a fight over $20...

You can't be mad about something that's your own fault..... Posting should be a mandate, not an option. Playing sets, pay after each set? Yeah, well lets post the last set...... Playing by the game, pay every game? Yeah, well lets post the last game.....

I broke my own code once playing a guy that I grew up with. This guy was mouthy to just about everyone but me growing up and I saved him from getting slaughtered umpteen times. He never showed me anything but respect.... We start out playing even one pocket for $20 a game (his call), hours later I'm giving him 9-7, 10-7 for $400 a game. Early on when I had him stuck around a thousand I asked him to square up and pay every game. There were a few people watching that were known to do things and he shows me the two bankrolls he was holding, that I estimated as $10-12,000 and he said was $13,000. He said I'll lose $6,000 but no chance I'm flashing any cash around these guys.... Like I said, I grew up with the guy and always got respect so it was cool with me. Well, after 32+ hours I have him stuck $6,000. Long story from there but he doesn't pay.... I had an associate of friend of mine offer to rob him and his people where I would get half of what they got, which would have been a much bigger pay day than the $6,000 and I passed saying karma will get his @ss. 5-6 years later he was in a drug house doing a deal when the cops raided the home, they found a dead body that no one would cop to so they pinned it all three that were still alive. He gets 12 years...... I'm good with that. Now, betting decent money I would make my mom post.

Back in the day, I was in the middle of a Sunday 8 ball tourney and in walked a friend of my room mate and me.

He says let's play some $20 8 ball. I say ok and run out the first game and he refuses to pay.

Then a few minutes later, I'm doing this trick shot where a ball is sitting in the far corner and I roll the cb against the rail and throw the cue behind my back and hit it 5 or 6 rails to make the ball in the corner.

He says "I'll bet you $10 that you can't do that shot in 10 tries".

I said "ok, but miscues don't count as a try".

So, I miss it by a hair on the fifth try and he says, "let's bump it to $15".

I agree...

Then on the tenth try, I come a hair from doing it again and he says "You owe me $15".

I replied that as soon as he paid me the twenty he owed me, I'd pay him the 15 I owed him.

Now some background. This guy was 6'5", 280 and was a gun runner for gang bangers in San Bernardino and other areas of the inland empire.

At the time, I offered personal instruction in martial arts and would sometimes use the pool hall during off hours for the instruction.

So he comes up to me and says, "come quarter to 4 I'm going to collect."
I said, "Rich, if you shoot me, you better hope to God you kill me, cause if you don't, I will come back and kill you."

He replies "Oh I'm not gonna shoot you, but you better hope you're as much of a badass as you say you are".

I responded, "I"ve never claimed I was a badass Rich".

I hadn't either, people just assumed it because they would see me giving martial arts instruction and people would ask if they could try and hit me and I would let them.

So at like 20 till 4, my room mate Josh pulls up on his bike and he was always acting as a moderator between me and Rich, so I said, screw this Rich, let's go right now and I start walking for the door.

Scott, (the owner of the pool hall), says take it around back, take it around back.

We get about half way around back and I get into a fighting stance and Rich tries to just lean up and punch me in the head, I duck and then back out into the parking lot. He tries it again and I duck it again.

Then I pull my pants up at the knees to free them up so I can kick freely and Rich says, " go ahead and try to kick me, I'll kick you in the balls".

He tries the punch thing one more time and I duck it again and then Mike, (co owner and brother of Scott), comes running up behind him and grabs him and pulls him away.

That was that and Scott barred him from ever coming back to the pool hall again.

Later he ended up getting caught with illegal firearms in the back of his camaro and went to county for 18 months or so. That was the last I heard about him.

How did Geno do in that tournament in Oshkosh WI last week? It looked like a very tough field... If he placed in the top 5 that would of been pretty darn good...

well apparently i & KK9 shrank down to 5'3", plus 3 inch platforms @ my birthday. (so that makes Darren 4 foot tall)

seriously - all you had to do, Rhea, was cab-it to the police station. throw your ex-Army clout. plus the girl-card. and they would have escorted you happily to her place to pick up ONLY your belongings.

then

that same ex-Army training comes into play on being stiffed. and "Don" never makes it out the door without paying.

and then

if A & B don't fly - that's when you call on your local AZB brutha's ....

for $400 & renegging, i would have been AIR BORN across that pool room & cue around his neck!

If I would have been one of the robbers, I would have just went ahead and robbed him. I mean why not?? If that's what you do and you know that the guy is holding that heavy and has it coming. Just rob him and keep all of the money, if you didn't want any of it. That's just the way I think.. He robbed you. Right??

The associate guy wasn't a thief, he was just going to have his people do it because he liked and respected me.... The money he would have made on his end was literally peanuts in his world, he was top of the food chain in a good sized metropolitan city. He just didn't appreciate people in his profession with free money stiffing people, especially someone that the stiff artist should have great respect for..... If it had been someone who just randomly stiffed me he would never have offered, the particular circumstances just didn't sit well with him.

PINKLADY...Just one more reason why this entire thread is complete baloney...as tommyceilings said.

Made it to the final 6....

I played great the first day.

Woke up the next morning at 7:00 am and couldn't get back to sleep.

Had a seizure or 2 at night for sure.

Warmed up and just didn't have it. Lost my match 7-0. I couldn't have beaten my sister the second day. Missed balls, safes and shots.

Go from Superman to lois Lane in one night skipping Clark Kent.

Very frustrating to say the least.

But at least I know why now. Just need to work on it.

Had action the second day that I just loved but had to pass.

Had 3 bad days after that. Going to switch the meds and see if that helps.

I'll get it right. Until then I'm still going to play tough unless I can't sleep. The seizures don't let me get the rem sleep. Got to have the rem for sure. .

Thanks for asking....

Rhea by the way was responsible for finding these seizures. She woke up one night and I was doing the Jerry Lee Lewis impersonation laying down. Then I did it about 49 minutes later.

She might have saved my life. These things are nothing to fool with. The meds sure help though from having many at night to maybe having one.

All I can do is keep working on it for now.

It's the real world of how it is on the road....

When on the road Scott some of these players that don't pay know your not going to be there forever so they feel safe doing the air barrel thing.

Back in the day you just expected the last set might be an air barrel if not posting each set up.

Getting robbed, stabbed, shot, killed are all reality on the road. I've been blessed as far as this goes. Close calls but I'm still here.

Baloney to you is someone else's treasure.

When I'm out there doing my comfortable lessons I'm pretty safe but when I match up and bet bigger money I need to really cover my back.

Rhea doesn't even have a car and sharing her experiences with the world.

I think that is pretty cool myself.

But then again I really live the pool road life.

One man a van and the road.......

I heard she was over 7 feet tall and had laser beams for eyes! She always carries a gun, once had an ex's head in her suitcase and can down a bottle of Jack without blinking an eye.

laser beams for eyes is true. as far as the ex's head in the suitcase....now you know why it was left behind

Gene, much better than 2 Girls and a Cup.

Wow, I can't believe it. I am just leaving to play at a Vietnamese restaurant and bar with my friend Vee. I think I just may have saved myself
the price of dinner.

One Guy, 2 chopsticks and a Bowl of Rice.

I understand Mr. Saw. It's good to know people like that sometimes. You just never know.

Samiel came to pick me up from ck Billiards on skill an where I just finished playing thirty dollar sets with a gifted player. He was spotting me the call eight and the breaks. I ended up three sets winner.

Now on the one loss side at volcanos. Great food here and nice place. Samiel treated me to steak and fries plus a slice of cheesecake!

Tell us about Samiel. What is Samiel in to?? What else do you do besides pool? Do you go to movies sometimes?? Do you play cards? Do you like to party-drink and get toasted?

I've read nothing but high praise @ Samiel here over the years from people I respect.

Here's one more!

Samiel is a good dude.
He loves all the OB girls players. He supports the tour girls like no other.

The OB girls will have their hands full this weekend, out of towner Jennie Seavers in town to play from Florida. She's a pretty solid player.

Rhea plays well! She's currently tearing up the one loss side (I'm a victim). She shoots with confidence. I wish her and all the ladies good luck tomorrow!

I was at Shooters in Burnsville and this player that was in the tourney wanted to play me some bar table 9 ball for $20 a game.

I was stealing though. Quickly I gave him a pretty big spot, raised the bet to $40 and beat him out of $380.

He quit and said he had lost all his money earlier but wanted to do the Perfect Aim lesson and would call me. I told him if he does the lesson and pays me the $380 the lesson would be no charge.

I drove over to Farmington Billiards to give this guy a lesson and collect the $380 after he called me 4 days later.

When I got there he claimed the drunk that was with him was loaded and was going to back him so we could play some more. He said he wanted a crack at me on a table he was used to.

I told him he had to pay me the $380 first. I just drove 2 hours to get there. I was kind of pissed.

The drunk left eventually and the guy hung out telling me he would help me get some lessons. Good Luck with that.

Your buddy Geno........

Rhea outed her stiffer...you should too!

Rhea ended up 7-8th out of 32, enough to cash and also get LL. I think today was a decent day for her all things considering. She's real enough for all her doubters, but it's hard to please everyone. The road is tough and sometimes things don't roll your way. I have a feeling she'll be back in Houston soon enough to collect her belongings if they are still there (we can hope). I'm sure there will be many more stories to come.
