Desired outcome: Glen gets on this thread, apologizes, and makes it right immediately.

Probable outcome: Glen gets on this thread and the drama train keeps on rolling through the land of azbilliards.

To the OP: I will play you a round of bank pool on your table for as much as you can bet.

We live in a world where service is everything. I hate knowing that to survive within the higher echelon of the billiard world we're reduced to biting our tongues for all the wrong reasons.

When you don't get communication what else is left? At least a rant on a forum might solicit a phone call or response.

I run a business and if I did things like some of these guys do we'd be broke and homeless. Don't turn a hobby into a business if you can't at the very least communicate.

Too bad this post isnt like waving a magic wand

You will get a response now more than likely. Maybe an ass chewing too for standing in the way of true art. Good luck with the "calibration".

Seriously, maybe he didn't answer because you were hounding him ? Or not ? Best of luck either way.

I knew how this would go when the OP first posted.

The nits and nuthuggers will make excuses and say what a great job someone did and that "we" don't understand the pressures, troubles and issues that these guys are under.

Trust me, all of us have pressures, troubles and issues.

Just do what you say you will do, on time and schedule.

Ken

Glen is always behind, because he wont leave a job until its right or leaves and gets distracted and comes back very late, but he always comes back. So I have waited very long periods of time for him. He has done 4 or 5 big jobs for me, Diamond, Gold Crown 4 & 5 and a 12' Riley Snooker table, and redid the rails that were used on the TAR table for some matches as well as routine work like recovering the aforementioned tables several times. A few times just moving tables. And moving tables that I have sold to other AZB members who ae very happy-and yes Glen litterly carried a pool table thru the snow for him. There are pics here of that job.

No matter what EVERYTIME it was worth the wait, sure there was complications and some down time, but he always made it right with me. 100% of the time.

Yeah a couple times i waited more than 2 months from when he said he would be there, i never complained, this is pool, same goes for custom cue makers. It all comes in due time, its not the cable guy coming between 1 to 5 to plug in your netflix box. Its a different animal, and patients pays off. I waited 4 or 5 months for him one time, so what? he took care of me.

I didnt even read the any of the posts in this thread, unless Glen dropped a pool table on his head and lost his mind-he is anything but a crook. He under charges as well. I have tipped him huge and still it was a fair price.

I will stand for him 100% of the time, unless he did drop a table on his head in which case i'd give him a ride to the doctor. He is a good guy, kinda hardcore and opinionated but his opinions are factual, I'm not a table fitter but i been around the biz for over 20 years and know a bit about it.

hope it works out,

eric

And no he isnt the only person who does table work for me, I just had Ernesto do a table for me, he is a very good friend as well.

I think it's far too often that excuse is used and it doesn't make it right. The more people accept it as the norm, the longer it will happen. Customers shouldn't have to accept non-communication and missed deadlines as an acceptable practice because "this is pool".

He may be busy but I can pretty much gtd that he has a cell phone in his pocket

Going silent on a customer is not excusable, regardless of how many posts you have on AZB

Looks like a duck, walks like a duck.... If true, he is indeed that duck

Nope... a duck in this situation would be someone who just took his money and ran... We all know Glen and while he may suck at staying on schedule he has never ever to my knowledge not came thru... although it does seem to always be a little later than he had told you when he was being delusional about how much one man can do with a schedule that changes every frigging day.... I'm not a Glen fan (I am a huge fan of some of his work)... or even his friend.. I have met him and we have made introductions..... so this is not a smokescreen just an honest assessment...

If you want something done right on a pool table he may be as good as it gets... but be prepared to wait on it... It will be worth it when it comes back right and not butchered like what usually happens when you call the pool table repair guy you got a number for off craigslist......

Lets say the OP sells his table sans rails... Unless he buys a brand spanking new diamond what are the chances he won't need a good mechanic for whatever he replaces it with....

At this point I'd say Glen needs to tuck his tail and just admit the ugly truth and tell the OP a realistic date so he can quit ducking calls... The OP has admitted that he is rightly emotional over it so he will be able to sleep at night and when it is all over the OP will likely have one of the best playing Big Gs in the country.....

Chris

Whatever happened to giving your word and keeping it? Whatever happened to follow up and communication? He took the money, he took the rails, he made a promise and two months after the promised date he won't even return the guy's calls. That's bullshit anyway you spin it.

I know nothing of this table mechanic but it sounds to me as if some of you are "Star struck' and will accept any type behavior just to get work done.
Back in NJ mid 80's a very famous pool cue maker would come to the room from time to time. The owner of the room said if you play him a little pool and lose and get friendly with him you might get him to build you a cue. I said so if I kiss his butt and suck up I may be one of the chosen ones? Yes was his reply. So I never got a cue made and just kept playing with my Schon that I got the usual way. I just paid for it and didn't have to suck up.

Glen Hancock

Glen did not steal the rails.

He is never on time (like everyone has said).
Just the way he does things - and any checking will tell you this is his style.

I agree he needs to tell you what the deal is.

I am not condoning his behavior - it is just who Glen is.

When I first saw the OP I thought:

"He's only two months behind. Thats not too bad"

Glen works on cuemaker time. No excuse for lack of communication in any way and a bad way to do business but my guess is the OP gets his rails back at some point.

Unless Glenn goes all Glenn and rails on the dude for posting here, tells him he doesnt understand the art of pool tables and sends his rails and money back in a box. Basically anything is possible at this point I guess.

I'm hoping for a warm fuzzy ending for all involved.

My neighbor, a BCA Instructor and mighty handy at One-Pocket,
recently had his Diamond Pro 9' heavily massaged by Glenn and couldn't
be a happier camper. The table looks and plays better than when new.
I have heard nothing (until now) but praise for his workmanship,
and sincerely hope this story ends on a happier note.

Best of Luck to you, Sir.

The pool world has always been on island time with everything. To remain happy when dealing with the billiard retail world you must realize your not dealing with anything remotely similar to the speed of McDonald's.

Great comments. You talking Jimmy Buffet and not Warren, correct?

If you read this forum often, you can't help but to know the idiosyncrasies of rkc. And he is not far from many other of the artistic characters in pool. The way that I see many of these threads is, if you want promptness call Frank the coin op repairman... he will do it in the morning and be out of your hair in thirty minutes. If you an Michelangelo, well just sit back, relax and then complain if you wait all that time and don't get a chapel.

TO ALL, exspecially Glenn,

I would like to appologize to eveyone for starting this rant. After the weeks started to turn into months, I started to get bent out of shape. and when my last couple of calls to Glenn wern't answered it pushed me over the edge. Through all this I have taken Glenn's character into consideration and have been more than patient. Each time I spoke with Glenn he gave me a new ship date and each time I waited a couple weeks beyond that date before contacting him again. I have always been kind and understand when speaking with Glenn, and have never done anything to push or hound him. In fact since Feb I think I have only spoken with him 3 or 4 times. I understand things get in the way, but I am kind of a no nonsence person, if you have problems just tell me, we can always work through it, but don't tell me it will be done then, and then , and then and never come through. This is what bends me out of shape.

I hope everyone understands, and I appologize for everything I said, to all and to Glenn.

Thank You

Tony

I have been in a similar situation with a few cuemakers (missing shipping dates many times).
However I am a cue dealer and whether I have 85 or 86 cues in stock doesn't really matter that much.

Here however we are talking about your table and I will assume you only have 1 table. A few weeks
turning into a few months not being able to play would certainly put me on tilt. Hang in there,
I am as sure as many others here that Glenn hoped and planned he would have the rails done on time,
but it simply didn't happen.

It's one thing to be behind schedule, to have your work so in demand that you have a waiting list and people who are willing to put up with poor customer service for a great finished product (think Soup Nazi). It is quite another to leave somone without a table for months on end without a solid end in sight. Being busy and backed up does not give anyone the right to do this. I'd be sitting staring at my broken table thinking that Glenn is doing a multitable pool room somewhere and my rails are sitting in the back of a truck because my job wasn't important enough for him to prioritize.

I'd be livid.

I had my rails replaced on my Diamond by Donny Wessels. I gave him a deposit to buy the new rails and he told me that he would be at my house to install them a month later, after he got them ready for me. Three weeks later he called me to schedule an appointment and he showed up on time and did a beautiful job on my table, basically converting the old Red Diamond rails to the newer Blue Diamond rails. He also tightened the pockets to 4.25" at the same time. My table plays great and I'm very happy with the service I got from Donny.

P.S. I still have the old rails signed by Shane, Dennis O. and Warren Kiamco. Anyone wanting a cool souvenir, contact me and we can make a deal. jayhelfert@yahoo.com
