It really sucks being a dumbass poster but I will keep trying I promise and hopefully one day someone will ask me that question again and I will know the answer. See I live and learn everyday. Just curious - why is Ashley and Melinda given such a welcome by AZ and funds to attend an event but Robb Saez is getting the cold shoulder?

This is a fair question, but I might be missing something after reading this entire thread: I believe Robb is asking for sponsorship (corporate or other wise), Ashley, by way of her friend, Melinda, was asking for donations to fulfill her dream because the opportunity popped up suddenly to go to the US Open and she didn't have the funds. Some of us wanted to help Melinda and Ashley because they are considered friends/family of AZ and it was a fun thing to do. I don't see these two things as being the same thing at all. Besides, I do not believe Robb is asking for donations, he's looking more of business deal of sorts.

I have heard some stories about Robb too, but I had the pleasure of meeting him in a FLA tourney in 2004 or 2005 and he seemed like a very level headed young man with a lot of talent. I think he won the ring game that year against 4 other champions. I say let him try to make a business deal where both parties can benefit without the negativity. His friend Oldzilla simply made his intentions public to see if there was any interest.

There are many top pool players that seek sponsorship, why should Robb be any different. AZers are under no obligation to send money, but there may be AZers that own a business that could benefit from sponsoring a player.

Samiel- Did I just compare Robb's request to only the Ashley recent sponsorship? Did you read the entire thread?

Watchez - Yes, I read the entire thread. The first part of my post was to point out that HoH was only sponsored for the US Open and not the other tournament in OK, which it appears you assumed incorrectly that she was sponsored for. You then assumed that she went to a tournament in TX, which was also incorrect.

The second part of my post was in reply to your original question of...

You then added a post about Mary Rakin and then went on to talk about Justin Bergman.

In any case, the point I was trying to get across was that Robb is asking for sponsorship for all of his events as opposed to one specific event. The AZ sponsorships you have mentioned (Ashley, Melinda and Mary) seem to have all been for a single event. I'm guessing you did not understand this from my post.

You asked why Robb was getting the cold shoulder. My response is that Robb is trying to get sponsorship to all of his events and to me, it appears that AZ tends to respond better to people asking for sponsorship to a specific event rather than broad sponsorship.

I believe asking for sponsorship to all events is different from asking for sponsorship to a single event, especially if that single event catches the person unaware, and thus AZ responds differently.

Specifically in regards to Robb, I truly believe that if Robb were get a last minute invitation to an event he could not have planned for, AZ would respond positively in terms of sponsoring.

Since we're a tight-knit community of pool players and fans, I think we're more inclined to help those who give back in some capacity to this forum. So before asking for help, you might want to ask yourself what you've contributed to AZB.

As a example, if you're a professional pool player, it would be great if you could share your insights, knowledge and experiences with the rest of us. Someday, you might be rewarded for it and even if you're not, you know that you've contributed to making this forum a better place for others.

Rob i think that i will consider the rail chopup that you, angrywhite and the guy from up north did my contribution to you. Where was this? Mr Cues in Atalnta about 4 years ago. You three had no problem splitting the money as you were walking out the door. Quickest one pocket match i have ever watched. I'm a bad c player and i can make it look better than you. Yea i watched as you three were leaving laughing it up. Mabye you have changed since then, i dont know but thats my contribution to your sponsorship.

Yes, I can see where HOH's comments about Texas were misleading. She came to Texas in order to see friends, etc. (not to play a tournament in Texas) and then rode up to Oklahoma from Texas to play in the OB Cues Tour.

To sponser Robb would give anyone fantastic exposure. Wether it is wearing patches or shirts or displaying informational flyers could prove to be a great way to get the news out to the people that love the game. Plus Robb does some commentary on the live streams and I will suggest to him to mention the sponsers when he is in the booth.

Isn't a sponsorship suppose to benefit both parties? Most people are acting like he asked for a free handout. Maybe that is his intent(I don't know), but it was not stated as that.

Ashley was not really sponsored. Some nice people just helped her pay for her trip. There seems to be a difference in the two situations.

I met Rob a few years ago in a Taxi cab, we been friends since. He is a no BS kinda guy, as far as his temper he is like me he lets it out, he dosent hold it in like a corpse, he has personality and flavor and brutal honesty. If he dumped off the rail years ago-so what damn near every pool player has when they were in a jam, its nothing to be proud of-I wasnt there and dont know. But it happens. the Rob I know is funny, pure, and I wish him the best. He aint a phony, his emotions are on his shirt sleve, he has had a few rough patches in his life and he still finds a way.

Heres what im sure of Chris. I was one of the rail bettors. Rob played, was over quick. Angry took the money. All three walked out togrther. Angry counting money and handing to both players. Thats what i saw up close. I dont post much but i stand by what i saw. I have said what i saw thats all. You have to decide for yourself.

I know Robb for a long time . And yes he had somethings happen in his life with no real way to let them out . But i do know this he can flat out play . Now if he did something in the past ,let it stay there. This man is trying to get his life right .It's funny how we are quick to jump on someone that asked for help. So if there are people that want to help him just say i'll help , And the the ones that don't , just don't . But to rip the guy for asking for help is a little crazy . Getting a job would be great But hell jobs are hard to get now a day's also ..

Here's something If anyone wants to help Robb pick the event that you can help with or put towards it ,and let him know look you cash pay back the ones that helped you out and then .
Hit up the other events on you list, play local events 100 dollars by in stack your cash move to next one .
Hell there are player that do that now , God know if i had the cash he needed i'll give it to him and a lot of my other pro players , Just cause i love the game and us ( the non pro's ) Help to keep this game alive .. And one day it might be a real sport ..
