Sales / Wanted rules Update

There are a lot of things bothering me right now, but your Ebay links aren't one of them.
In fact, about the only time I check Ebay is when there is a link from AZ.
The problem is not the links to other sites, the problem is the increased activity overall.
AZ is too big for the old school way of doing business, and no matter how many new rules
we invoke, people will find ways to get around them or ignore them altogether.
Some people are posting for sale items like it's Craigslist, so in my opinion the Ebay links are the least of our problem.
With everyone fighting for real estate there should be a sub-section for links, but since there
are people who think it is their right to abuse the WFS, I don't think that band-aid fixes are going to work.

*tappity tap*

That's my take and by the way, I became a paid member the other day just so I could comment on this topic and not just be a freeloader with a jaundiced view from the sidelines.

Purchasing a club membership can eliminate jaundiced views?

This is getting very tempting...

Best,
Brian kc

Ebay links are not crowding these forums. Junk stuff that has been for sale is cluttering them up. It should be separated into production and custom cues. Cases, billiard accesories and memorabilia of that nature. Bumping threads should be once a day at the max end of story.

UN "spiderjerusalem" started two threads on 11-29 selling a cue in each.

Those threads have been bumped nineteen (19) times since.

imo this is a much greater issue than ebay links...

suggestions:

One active buy and one active sell thread at any given time, COMBINE items

Only OP can post to thread. Questions, offers, comments, etc. via PM, Email, phone, etc.

A few sub-forums also has merit to include various links

After 3 daily bumps by the OP, it would be nice if the OP was limited to weekly bumps.

Here's my warped twisted take:

1. Add more sub forum categories.
2. Enforce 1 bump per day rule.
3. Maybe limit the number of threads to 3 per member?

I will become a moderator for these new sections if necessary and kick some ass!!!

:)

There are over 18,000 cues now on ebay. If we had the option of searching ebay by only AZ sellers that I am familiar with, then yes, no separate section would be needed.

It would be nice to be able to browse fellow AZer's ebay auctions in a separate section. If you don't want to go there, don't click on it.

DING * DING * DING

We have a winnner! Is anybody listening? Seems like the perfect compromise to me. E-bay links out of the WFS section for those who don't want them, yet they are still available in another section for those who do. If someone would make this happen we could all stop talking about this... (But please don't use the raffle section, it's for the raffle links. Just create another section. No reason not to. Bits are free.)

* Just a paying member's opinion.

Folks...there is a simple solution. SELL THE CUE HERE! You could also sell it on Ebay at the same time. You could list the Ebay item number in your F/S ad here.
My guess is, those who do NOT wish to comply want an auction where their buddies can bump up the price of the cue. Fine, do it on Ebay. AZ is NOT an auction site, and by putting Ebay links here without selling the cue here, you send revenue to Ebay because the search engines will only find the Ebay listing. That's not fair to AZ, or it's members...of course some of you don't care!

#1 - Its NOT the eBay links that jack up the FS section.
#2 - How exactly is an eBay link taking money away from AZbilliards??
#3 - This is a new rule, people are just talking and figuring things out, a work in progress if you will.
#3 - You still love me?? :D

Who hates ebay

Me. Don't want in for sale unless it is for sale with a price. Simple. Allowed too.
A tad nitty. Not in the FOR SALE SECTION. It is not the what is available on bid secction.
Nick :)

Mr. Nick,

First of all, this is the "Wanted/For Sale" section. So people post up those items plus a slew of other crap. I recently sold a high end cue and asked to be PM'd for price. It worked out good for everyone that the sale was kept semi-private. I don't see any reason why a FS thread has to be a certain way and fit into really specific criteria in order to be posted here.
There are very few threads that have links to eBay and many buyers would have not found those cues if they were not posted here. Not everything in life is cut and dry. There are much bigger fish to fry in my opinion in the Wanted/For Sale section.

Russ.....

Was that yin/yang Huebler yours too?

Yes, still is. I kind of like Huebler's, he made some nice cues.

I hope this issue is resolved. As some one pointed out, there are an awful lot of awful cues on ebay. I don't want to sort through them.
I feel better buying an ebay cue if it is offered by an AZ member.

I think what is WAY more offensive to the fleabay links are the incessant posts and reposts and reposts of cues that do not sell. By making a new thread with the same asking price is ridiculous.

I'd love to know the logic behind that sales tactic...

Did the rules get changed again? There are still links to things not for sale on AZbilliards in the wanted/ for section. I saw one thread with an Ebay link and someone had red repped the seller (not sure if thats why) but others are still going.

You have to live in an Ebayistic post repost world to understand the logic.
The sales tactic is, after the second repost or post post repost, the highest offer becomes the sale price.

Normally I would agree, but after the fifth or sixth repost (same pics, same price) it appears clueless of the market.

<~~~~~~ never bought one thing from eBay

OK since that didn't fly, would you believe there is a law in most states (except Connecticut)
that says only 2-reposts without a price drop...

mr wilson request that kevin give it a rest several pages back
since that time kevin has posted dozens of more times

as if the court of public opinion could sway the choice while
he defied the give it a rest request

mr wilson is showing more restraint than i would
i think he is doing a good job and we should rest in his decision
or make a private request based on new information,

i am not impressed with the arguments resting not so much on reason
decency and respect for the man whose job it is to make a decision
but playing to the masses , to the court of public opinion

i don't understand the exact problem, but i do think mr wilson should be given credit
for understanding it and doing what is best, hasn't he earned our confidence in the past, and shown great restraint here

i personally love john barton, but every so often he forces mr w to give him a vacation,
i hope this is not going that far, to require disciplinary action on those who lack restraint

but if it does,i support that too
