back to the subject -
For anyone who knows me...I am very straight foward, and pretty much answers any questions one might have for me. I speak my opinions proudly and have no shame in my beliefs, and have no regrets, and I'm sure some people take it the wrong way.
I posted my "2 cents" at first, just to do it. I figured it good reading, it was TRUE what had happened, and I thought it to be kinda related to the topic.
Now this happened in 2003 - 5 years ago - and this is the first time I even mentioned it to anyone. However Sarah is disciplined/punished (if any, because Jennifer could have been making the whole thing up) is not up to me and I have no opinions except it be fair. I just thought I'd share to the world/AZ/forum/whoever is interested my experiences - that's up to me, right? I do have that right, don't I??
Am I picking sides? Hell yeah I am....I believe Jennifer....since there are no witnesses does it mean I can't choose whom i believe?? The whole point is that without witnesses you have to eventually choose....and you look (like Monica stated) to past actions/behavior/incidents to try and make a decision.
I think it is obvious...I don't like the bs, and extra "words"....wrong is wrong...once in a while there is gray areas but come on....I am just a simple person keeping the issue SIMPLE AS POSSIBLE. once again - my opinion, and my perogative to share it.
I don't know Sarah personally - it's obvious she wouldn't have given me the time of day anyway. I don't know Jennifer personally either - but I've been around her a lot, even seen her here in Hawaii a lot in the past too - she was a good person. An intense player/very competitve.
I take to heart what Linda, Monica, Sarah R., and Melissa have posted. Granted I am no longer a part of the WPBA, I still am curious on what goes on within it - so i looked at the name of this thread, and responded - How do you rule?
There is no wrong or right in posting a reply here....no one (except Melissa) is on the "Board" so none of us HAS to be open-minded and (personally) I don't HAVE to be un-biased - my opinion is based on experience and just plain gut-instinct - I'd love to hear people be a little more straight-foward/blunt with their opinions - I'm sure I can't be the only outspoken one - we all are adults for the most part, right?? LOL!!!:embarrassed2:

First, Sarah R did not witness the incident in question...meaning the elbow bump. (This is a prime example of how facts get mixed up in these posts)

Celtic said:Who said she did? And who of anyone on this thread said they did? What was said was that Jennifer and Sarah had a arguement over a call, the ref made a choice, and that Jennifer then alleged that an elbow bump occured later. Noone is saying it happend for sure, what is known is that Jennifer claims it did.
You are in a public sport that is watched and discussed by the fans, all aspects of it. If something like this takes place rest assured it is going to be discussed, if your sport was more prominent it would be on the nightly news and sports talk shows would debate the event with call ins from the fans to chat about their feelings on the subject. If you don't like that perhaps a life not in the limelight would work better for you instead of making a living in a public professional sport that is going to garner interest and create discussions like this when things such as this occur. Seriously, suck it up, your suggestion that anything that happens on your tour should not be mentioned on a public forum about pool is way out of bounds, you need a reality check.

in any case Sarah does sound like a piece of work and Jennifer needs to toughen up

ShootingArts said:What happened in the hallway, if it happened, definitely was wrong. However am I the only one that finds it odd that a TD made a ruling based on a reenactment by the opposing player? This seems totally ridiculous also.
Maybe I have been doing it all wrong. Instead of calling the TD or someone else over to view close hits I'll start just hitting them and then call the TD over and show them my version of what happened if my opponent claims foul. I realize the opponent is the one won the ruling after the fact here but in my opinion the TD's ruling was flat wrong unless both players agreed to what happened. If both players agreed they would not have needed the TD to begin with.
The TD or someone they assigned should have paid close attention to the match afterwards but making a call on a shot that the TD didn't see seems most peculiar and odd to me.

Blackjack said:many players (not all) when they have to play Sarah Ellerby will talk to either Steve Tipton or Mark Wilson PRIOR to the match and ask them to keep an eye on their table to ensure that nothing happens.
For some players, there is so much bad blood between them and Sarah that Steve just pulls up a chair and sits there for the entire match.

I don't know how I would react if most of the players felt that I needed to be watched at all times during a match.
At some point that would become very old and not so much fun anymore. I really like the fact that my better half (Stacy Hurst) is gracious, win or lose.
In the last 12 years, I can't think of an altercation where she was playing in a match and there was a problem that couldn't be resolved by the tournament director.
Stacy lost to Melissa in San Diego 9-1, Melissa played great, and uh Stacy didn't. Stacy beat My-Hanh Lac 9-2 in Michigan City last week. Stacy played good and My-Hanh didn't. The end result is that both players would not mind playing Stacy again (it's not just because they think they can beat her...lol). I have players come up to me and tell me how much they enjoy playing Stacy (it doesn't matter if they won or lost, they still enjoy playing her). That's what makes me proud to know her. You can play at the highest level and still be classy... example: Allison
Being respectful and having class is very important. Players don't want to play Allison, it's not that they don't like her, it's because they end up sitting for VERY LONG periods of timeAllison is not only the best player in the world, but she has also set the bar for conduct. Allsion tells is like it is, and she gives credit to her opponent when they are deserving of it.
To all of you that have lost a match with integrity...I salute you...you are the ones that can make a difference in our sport.
