She sharks - reality series

Here is a brief update on the show. SHE SHARKS is now under development for one of the largest national brand cable networks that also have global reach, and many international affiliates. Initial footage is scheduled to start shooting mid-February in Florida. The cast commitments are as follows: RACHAEL ABBINK, DAWN FOX, KATHRYN FAIRCHILD and AKIKO KITAYAMA. We are waiting for confirmation on 2 more, high profile female players and will let you know when the cast is fully in place. There is another show on a smaller cable network that is being developed, and while that network is home to some of the most ridiculous (actuality) programming on TV, we are hoping they do right by the sport.

SHE SHARKS will explore the world of pool through the eyes of 6 female pool players as they trek across country on a 10 weeks tour. The show will feature many celebrities, professional football and baseball players as well as major pop music stars. The show will be shot through the eyes of the players and follow their trials and successes in this 10 episode series.

Great news Mark, good luck with the show and i hope it is a huge success.

I was with Blair when he had his 1st meeting with Axius, i was also on the cast of pool sharks and another of Blairs shows, so i wish him and you the best, this will only help pool and other shows about pool.

Glad to hear this is going to happen! I see only positive things for pool with this show!

Gotcha ;)

I have very mixed feelings about an endeavor that showcases the "hustling" side of pool.

On one hand, I know that virtually every interview I have ever seen or heard in popular media contains a question about "hustling". It is THE very intriguing element of pool for those that don't really know anything else about pool, so its very easy to latch on to.

On the flip side, I personally feel that as long as billiards is perceived as a "hustler's" game, it will forever be relegated to a lower tier status and prevent true growth of the sport.

Understand that there I draw a difference between gambling and hustling. Gambling could increase the popularity of the sport immensely, but only if done on the up and up (see vegas odds). Hustling carries the connotation of grifters, back room games, a lack of integrity, and unsavory characters.

In the absence of popular elements that are elevating the sport to a higher level, I wonder if shining a spotlight on the hustling aspect of the game is really going to do the overall image of billiards any favors.

Gambling in pool is part of its history, allure and appeal. Unfortunately, its illegal to gamble in many states on pool, and no network will air anything that could possibly be "actual" gambling. Just like with most reality shows, events are re-enacted from actual situations and experiences. (some more authentic and closer to the truth than others). Networks do not pay production crews millions of dollars to follow people around in hopes of getting the footage they need. It's actually carefully plotted out based on experiences submitted by the cast members and developed to reflect past experiences. Are some liberties taken, you bet. Will they in this show.......ah.......somewhat, but basically we have agreed to work with the cast members to keep things as organic as possible. It is very hard to have any reality show based on a sport, its actually all character driven, and the varying difference in the girls looks, upbringings, personalities, likes and dislikes, besides years of pool playing experience, is providing a lot of GREAT, I mean really GREAT material for the show. You will be very surprised on what some of these women have been through, personally and in the rooms. And thats the point. The sport of pool is the content by which this show will revolve around, its the nucleus of the show, but its more focused on how these women handle themselves, their peers, their families and friends on their journey. No different from a towing, bounty, animal rescue, tattoo, fishing, moonshining, drag racing, home improvement reality show. Everything, including the girls, revolves around pool. And its not just the girls. Its also visiting several pool halls across the country, getting to know their owners, patrons, etc........ It will be a fun, sometimes VERY intense journey - and you know what......these girls really know how to break balls!!! I will leave it at that for now.

Wanna bet?

The top players are more robots, tourney players. Will not be appealing to tv, they want the back room hustlin if you ask me. And some with personalities. I mean who wants Allison or Karen or Kelly on a reality tv series, they play great don't get me wrong, but they don't talk much. This is for tv and to draw people in, you need colorful characters, only top playing women that would qualify would be Jeanette and Vivian, they play to the crowds, audience.

It would be like a male reality show for pool, who would want to watch DAZ, toasty, Mike Davis, SVB, Marc Vidal. No characters there. You got to have characters to play the roles.

I agree, and they need to bring in Earl as their coach  I'd watch

Wanna bet?

Friendly wager... anyone?? Two people in the box, stacking and posting isn't 'gambling' by any state statute as far as I know. Keep the cameras rolling on the action/moves... btw, the ever familiar and now infamous line, "'Can I hold a hundred'", might prove go a long way in the eyes of the raw public. lol

I know of a few people who can make 'cameos' to infuse their one liners to the pool world 'real reels'. This could be fun/educational and funny for the die hard fans as well.

Just confirmed SHANELLE LORRAINE as a cast member. Waiting on one more, and then we will be able to release more information on the project.

How about some pre-production photos of the "contestants" to generate some interest in the show

Would love to but can't be released until series airs. Unfortunately, that will be a while.

So, now you are going to make me search for their photos on the internet, and post them here myself. Ok, but you owe me one ;)

You could just use the same Google Images search results that Dragon Promotions used for their flyers :D

Shanelle would definitely be good eye-candy for the series, but she isn't going to be sharking or hustling anyone in my humble opinion.

I look forward to seeing the final product however. Please keep us informed on when and where it will air. I realize that it may be a long way down the road from now.
