This also appears to be valid. If French thought that he would rake in half of all of his horse's prize money at DCC, that explains a LOT of what motivated him.I think French planned on making a butt-load of $ at derby, and it didn't quite work out that way.
If it had, the 50K would of been posted, pronto.

As one who did purchase the match I would love an explanation and I would love some details in regards to things changing or possibly changing.
If anything has changed in regards to the match than people should be entitled to a refund. Im talking things like, race is different, PRIZE MONEY being different, rules changing, etc. etc.

While I am not a big fan of the long race, I can sympathise with the die hard long format fans who have been hugely disappointed by the cancellation after mega billing as "greatest match". These fans undoubtedly would have felt cheated, deceived after all the mega hype, anticipation
All this reminds me of one season of "Dallas" some 3 decades ago. Patrick Duffy (who played Bobby Ewing) was leaving the show so the writers wrote him off the show by killing him in a car accident. He did not appear for rest of season but towards end of season he changed his mind and decided to come back to the show. So the writers decided to write a storyline resurrecting him from dead in this cliffhanger episode https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nCEjeTb1rrs which floored the gorgeous Victoria Principal
Tens of millions of viewers waited and waited until next season to find out how Bobby came back from dead.
The opening episode of the next season was probably was most anti-climactic, most ridiculous, most deceptive con job in TV hstory. Suffice to say, that probably turned millions off soap operas , led to drop in ratings and to eventual demise of the series few years later.
So I will not be surprised if the many shenanigans of this match also leave bad taste with fans and lead to demise of the long race format :grin-square:

I hear you, but what else can Upstate Al do? If Al gets a sponsor, even if it's a product that he doesn't use, he has to advertise them.
It all sucks, and I'd hate Al's name or business to be hurt by this.

Good, I hope everyone the bought the PPV and the live seats at Carom Billiards get refunded in cash like they paid very quickly with no hoops to jump through.
Don't think this hasn't put a foul taste in the mouths of the fans that buy and/or pay to go to these action matches. Don't make it any worse than it is already.

It is now official that French is nothing but a guy with big mouth and empty pocket. He never has the money to post. Dave Cole has confirmed neither Dennis, Shane or John Mars have anything to do with this cancellation. It is all John the big mouth French
