Florida Trial Location

I looked at this procedure a while back for my daughter but she wouldn't qualify due to a congenital bicuspid valve. In reading through the trial page there is a location in Florida that is recruiting for the study. If Doug's cardiologist contacts them directly it may be to good affect.

Wishing the best for Smorg.

As it turns out, I too am a candidate for a heart valve. I'll be seeing my cardiologist next month and will be sure to ask him about this. Anything to avoid another "zipper" on my breastbone would be a welcome relief. Thanks for posting this.

That's awesome Paul! I'll add you to my prayer list.

Nobody would even know about these clinical trials if Ray hadn't deliberately done some research seeking help for Doug. He has played a part in other things too.

Melinda(AKA Trigger) has to be remembered also. A sweetheart that has been working very hard to support and encourage Doug.

I am stopping here and with JoeyA that Ray has already mentioned but the list is far longer. All involved supporting Doug and giving him encouragement deserve praise. There are many truly outstanding people on this pool forum and when one of our best is in a bind we all come together to help.

Thanks for the post Hu. I do know Ray played a big part in getting this information to help Doug.
In this big world of sometimes negative human responses, its very nice to know there are good eggs out there who are genuinely caring people who give so much. It gives me hope and a very good feeling inside.

Thanks Ray, Melinda, Hu, Joey A. and everyone who cares about Smorg.

I already received a reply from Jodi, she has suggested a re-direction. Does someone have insight into this Partner Trial Center? Hopefully this is not the runaround.

Dear Matt,

Thank you for your email. I totally understand the plight of Mr. Wiley as we understand the difficulties of this patient population.

I would suggest you choose a PARTNER Trial center to have him evaluated by a participating site such as Emory University or Washington Hospital Center or even University of Miami.

Best of luck and let me know if I can be of further assistance.

Smorg has kept me in stitches ever since he recommended what alcoholic beverage mixes best with one's beta blockers.

If anyone comes up with a final word on how to help him in a simple way, can they start a new thread so the answer doesn't get lost in some long convoluted thread?

I just found this thread....Email sent.

Anything I can do to help our friend is well worth the time it takes. There are a lot of amazing people on this forum, that I've come to value very much. Doug is number 1 on this list...

I would like to encourage everyone who reads this thread (even the lurkers), to take 5 minutes and support one of AZ's greatest resources.

Michael

Dear Ms. Edwards,

I write you regarding Mr. Doug Wiley. As a friend of Dougs for some time, I would like to sincerely ask that he be strongly considered for the trial on heart valve replacement (the Transfemoral procedure if I recall correctly).

Doug touches many, many lives and has so much life in him.

Doug is truly a living legend and I implore you to do whatever you can in your power to keep him that way. Thank you very much for your time.

Respectfully,

Matthew Todd Thompson

Yes, this is what we are seeking

This is what we are trying to get for Doug.

The official trial reference number is:
NCT00530894

The name is the partner trial and the full name the acronym comes from is behind it:

I sent my e-mail off to both Drs. Haldman and Salerno - will keep you all posted if I receive any reply - Jackson

Subject: Clinical Trial for Doug Wiley

I am writing to you on behalf of Doug Wiley that he be strongly considered for the Partner Trial on heart valve replacment - Ref # NCT00530894.

You will be receiving numerous e-mails over the next few days from all over the country requesting this consideration for Doug. Because of his warm and generous personality and incomparable wit and wisdom, Doug has made many friends through a forum that he shares with thousands of people who have come to rely on him for that bit of sunshine in an otherwise all too gray world.

Know that whatever you do will be greatly appreciated and I thank you for your valuable time and consideration.

Outstanding!

That is a very nice piece of writing!

You can count me in. Besides, working for the Post Office, this will be job security when all these letters start flowing. ;) Seriously though, Smorg has brought a smile to this place with his quick wit and humor, least we can do is help out a bit.

Darn those email machines, no job security there. Oh well, I will still support Doug.
