I gave "Mexican Reuben" (one of big gamblers in Dallas) the 3 and the Break playing 9 Ball and won over $15,000 in three plays. We were playing races to 5 for a thousand and there were some sets that I NEVER got to the table....he would run 5 and out! - Talk about a tough game....but slowly, surely he stopped getting to the 3 Ball and it was "lights out".
After I beat him the last time as he was walking to the door I said "Ok, I'll give you the 2 and the Break, we can bet two thousand a set!"........
He stopped dead in his tracks and walked quickly back .... "That's brutal and no, I'm not going to take the 2 and the Break, but promise me you won't tell anyone you offered me that game and I turned it down!!!"
I couldn't help but crack a smile "I won't, but if you don't play me within a year I'm telling everybody" :groucho: - that was a few years ago'The Game was his Teacher'
That has to be the biggest spot I have ever heard of.
My question to CJ, that is so far out there, how in the hell did you ever come up with that spot?

The other one I saw was in Springfield Missouri. Maybe 20 years ago.
Darren Everett played a guy that would not stop woofing at him to play.
Darren went into the kitchen, unscrewed a mop handle, and played a guy even 9 ball but Darren used a mop handle and the guy he played, played with his regular cue.
Darren tortured the guy and would "chalk" up the end of the mop handle for effect.
I watched it and couldnt stop laughing.
Needless to say, the player never woofed at Darren Everett to play again.

biggest spot I ever gave for a decent bet was the handspan to a guy in jax . We played at Harleys old rack and cue on the front table which was super tight. I played the guy a number of times with the 6 out and the handspan to this guy was much more weight. He ran four racks on me with those LeBron james sized hands he had.

I know Gary is on az, im sure he remembers the details.

This guy I met from Louisiana at a tournament recently told a similar story about Scotty Townsend. Scotty was dead drunk and was playing this guy and after it was over the woofing continued and Scotty told him he could beat the guy with a branch off a tree. The guy said yeah right and the next thing you know Scotty is on the roof cutting a branch off and then whittling it down. It was crooked as any WC Fields cue but he played the guy with it and beat him.
Never met Scotty, but I have heard lots of stories.
I bet he is a ball to have in a pool room....

I backed Ginky in a 9 ball game with Champagne Tony once at $100 a rack. Winner break. The games alternated. First game, Tony got the 1 out, wild. Next game, 2 out wild. Then, back to the 1, then 2 and so on. We made a few grand there.
Often I played Ginky some no count straight pool. The game always varied but went something like this. He'd play to 201 and I'd play to 50. He'd have to run 100 for the score to apply. 99 is the same as 1 ball and it was a zero inning. During my run at 50, I'd have to bank at least 1 or 2 balls, etc. It's a game I always had a chance at. But, he played STRONG!

Dick Lane used to spot this guy at Clicks 150 no count twice to the guys 150. Dick
had to run 150 TWO TIMES before the guy got to 150. This guy was not helpless he could run 30-40 balls. His name escapes me I am sure some of the people that hung out at Clicks back then will remember him. Mike Haines will for sure. I believe he was murdered at his apartment. they played a lot and I think Dick won every time.

This may not compare to some of the hilarious spots mentioned, but there should be
an honorable mention for Dippy Dave, and his opponents... these guys play
with a hilarious spot for 5 figures. I think Dippy is retired from pool now, sadly.

Biggest hidden spot. ! ball and the break in 1 hole. Doesnt sound like much? But, you tell the player giving you the spot that you want to ' get it over with quick. So, you go to 1 and he goes to 2 and you get all the breaks. The hustle is to start breaking the balls normally for a few games . Then try and jack the bet or freeze up some big cash . Then you...ohh ho...there are a lot of hustlers about to break my hands about now...lol.

Mike didn't play near as well as he did in the 80's , 90's, but he took it off for $1700 in the middle and $900 on the rail. I've been trying to get that spot since.....to no avail...lol

Back when I played snooker, I have spotted "select" players 100 points on the wire. I wouldn't give this spot to just anybody, but I would give it to the "defense only-type" of players. I would never give it to anybody with any kind of snooker fire power. It takes a LOT of snookering to get 100 points back if you don't score enough with the reds and number balls.
Who is going to top that? LOL
The guy that gave me the 7 ball who couldn't run 3 balls hanging in the pockets.
I ran with Al Mason for a month or so around San Antonio and managed to drum up the best games I ever seen. We were in a small poolroom one night and he had a C rated player spotting him the wild 7 and 8. For those that don't know Al he was a strong shortstop when he was younger. After Al won 23 games at $20 a game the kid said if you come back tomorrow you can only get the 7. I almost died laughing. Needless to say the kid got an expensive lesson that week.
Joey Spaeth once gave a huge spot to a banger who hung around the pool room. Joey got all the breaks but all the sucker had to do was drive the correct object ball to any rail on a legal hit! They played on a bucket pocket 8 footer and I don't think the sucker won a game!
