Stuff Like This Destroys My Enthusiasm......

Didn't read all 4 pages but and/or so :) . . .

You got exactly what you played for. That angle was never going to break up the 3/4 in a good way. That would have been the bad roll . . . if it actually broke 'em up and left you a shot on the 3. :)

That layout screams nothing but safety in any situation where the rack mattered.

The long shot shot would have been to maybe play a bank or opposite cut on the 2 and left the cue down by the 3/4 as a 2 way shot. If the 2 went then you have an easy safety on the 3/4. If it didn't you 'should' have left a tough shot for the opponent.

This isn't really about 'you coulda/shoulda played it this way instead'. You made a good effort and didn't get rewarded. This is an everyday, perfectly normal occurance in 9 ball. It happens a little less in other games because you have other balls to shoot at.

Sure, you coulda tried a safe or gotten an uphill angle on the 2, but at the end of the day you'll get bad rolls in this game. If it's enough to literally send you to your knees in frustration, you need to get out of pool entirely, or at the very least get out of 9 ball.

Everyone, please notice that DCP did not bother to make one response to this thread in a serious manner. He chose to comment on the half nekkid girls and other who shot john crap.

I think he posts these to get under people's skin. If he is being serious, then he has a learning disability.

Going along with your theory of bad luck I would say that your chances of making the two ball and hitting the 4/3 cluster AND leaving yourself with a decent shot has a very low percentage of success. Sooooooo, a safe was the correct path to take. It appears that you thought out the 2 ball shot and the 4/3 shot but didn't look ahead to your second shot which would have been the three ball. Next time look ahead to the next shot or two and ask yourself if you have a decent chance to execute your idea successfully. If your answer is that your chance to make the shot is not good chances are your opponent would also have a low percentage shot also. A safety is always your friend when the next shot or two is in doubt.

In the last few months I've had a thyroid problem (went away on it's own), got assaulted by some thugs who tried to rob me while I was jogging (they ran away when I started throwing punches) and had all the copper stolen out of my house after I moved out and put it on the market (try selling a house in the ghetto in this market).

But I now realize how lucky I've been because the three ball didn't get stuck behind the four ball.

alstl,

If this is all true, what kind of morons try to mug someone when they are running? How many people do you know who run with their wallets???????

From one Russ to another.........I AGREE 100% !!!!!!!!!

I asked him a serious question and he chose not to answer it.

I am done with him and his useless posts........

DCP

I will be in Jasper area (Southern Indiana) on Labor Day weekend.

I would meet to play some 9 ball if you have time, Saturday would be the best date for me.

I would like to see some of the bad rolls for myself.

I will then report back to AZ as to whether this situation is unique to DCP or just needs improved attitude and a different approach to the game.

FYI - I am a fair player who has some knowledge of the game. Capable of putting a rack or two together but not quite a world beater.

PM or post if you want to play some.

Hey, I guess you don't have to be smart to be a criminal. I had a watch and a gold wedding ring. These thugs don't need much of a reason. In my case, I held the idiots up long enough for a witness to call the police and they got caught shortly after they drove away (there was a driver waiting in a car around the corner from where I was jumped).

This is from last Saturday night, and I guarantee there are dozens of things like what happened to me that don't even get reported. I consider myself lucky that all I got was a cut above my eye.

ST. LOUIS ? An off-duty, rookie St. Louis police officer shot and killed a 16-year-old boy who had pulled a gun on her in a robbery attempt outside her home late Saturday, authorities said. It was one of at least 10 shootings on a bloody night in the city.

The officer was a Police Academy classmate last year of Officer Norvelle Brown, who on Aug. 15 was shot to death, allegedly by a teen. The officer had just attended a fundraiser to benefit Brown's family, police said.

The name of the 22-year-old officer, a probationary patrolman in the First District, was not immediately released. She fatally wounded Joey Foster Jr., who lived in the 5300 block of Wells Avenue, shortly after 11 p.m., near Lawn and Fairview avenues.

Ten shootings occurred in St. Louis over four hours beginning at 10:30 p.m. Saturday. A total of 11 people were wounded in the other nine shootings; none of them was fatal.

St. Louis County police reported that four people were shot ? one of them fatally ? in a drive-by incident about 10:45 p.m. Saturday in the 10100 block of Green Valley Drive in Dellwood. Police were looking for a dark, late-model, full-size sport utility vehicle but provided no further information. They asked anyone with information to call the St. Louis Regional Crime Stoppers at 866-371-8477 or county police at 314-889-2341.

Police gave this account of the shooting at Lawn and Fairview:

The officer pulled up in front of her home and noticed two teens standing nearby. When she stopped, the teens walked up to her, with one of them holding his hand under his T-shirt. At that point, she grabbed her service pistol.

One of the teens pulled out a pistol and announced a holdup. The officer feared for her safety and shot the gunman. He dropped his weapon but continued to reach for it, so she kept firing.

The officer fired seven times, and Foster was hit several times. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police believe the would-be robbers wanted the officer's Jeep.

Foster's accomplice ran off when the gunfire began. An 18-year-old suspected of being the accomplice was arrested a short time later at Brannon Avenue and Chippewa Street.

In the other nine shootings in the city:

? A woman, 22, was grazed on the upper left arm in a drive-by shooting about 10:30 p.m. as she was walking in the 5800 block of Lotus Avenue.

? A 17-year-old boy was wounded in the abdomen about 11:15 p.m. when an unwanted group showed up at a backyard party in the 4700 block of Cupples Place.

? Three 17-year-old boys were wounded by an unknown shooter who fired into a crowd about 11:30 p.m. in front of Club Amp, in the 1600 block of Delmar Boulevard. A few minutes later, a 16-year-old girl was shot in the leg on the rear parking lot of the club.

? In two drive-by shootings that might be linked, a man, 26, was critically wounded shortly after midnight while on a vacant lot in the 2800 block of Gamble Avenue, and, about 35 minutes later, a 64-year-old man was shot in the left arm while sitting on his front porch in the 2600 block of Hebert Street. In both cases, shots were fired from an older model, dark green Cadillac.

? A man, 41, was shot in the leg by an unknown person about 1 a.m. Sunday as he was walking on Greer Avenue, near Newstead Avenue.

? A 17-year-old youth reported that he was shot in the leg about 2:15 a.m. while walking near Madison and 11th streets, but police said he may have been wounded in an incident at a nearby fast-food restaurant.

? A man, 22, was shot in the abdomen about 2:30 a.m. as he was sitting on a bus stop bench in the 1300 block of Goodfellow Boulevard, at Page Avenue. The shot was fired from a passing minivan.

My good golly dam...I can't believe we get to revisit "bad rolls,no luck,God hates me" thread.

I Swear...If this guy hadn't met Scott for a lesson I'd bet all the beans he's the infamous fast larry or wombat or whoever it might be this week.

I smell an attention ho'.
He knows these threads will get replies and he loves it me thinks. This will be the last one (of this type) I'll reply too.If we all take that attitude it will most likly stop....which would be good...ya know cuz,its annoyiong as hell at this point.

All you guys are spinning your wheels. You don't understand the problem at all. DCP is NOT seeking a solution to his 'problem', he is only seeking a giant pity party and the ensuing attention.

He has previously stated that unless you are a pro, he gives no credence to anything you say. He will not apply any solutions to solve his dilemas. Instead, he will be right back here within a couple of days, or even hours, with another problem.

He is completely ungrateful for any advice that does solve his problems. And is either too stupid or too lazy to really apply any lessons given. He expects an answer that will totally change how everything 'works' for him without having to take the time to apply it. He wants to practice a draw shot for 15 min. and then complain about how his follow shots still don't work.

He is unwilling to learn that 1+1=2, 2+2=4, and from that figure out that 1+2=3.

His last posting was on attitude. He got some good advice on it. Did he apply it? NO. He doesn't want things better, he apparently just is more comfortable acting like a woman with PMS on steroids.

Now, if he ever cares to post starting out by asking 'this is what I did, this was the result. What should I have done to get a better result?' THEN I will start replying to his threads again. So, for you others that do gain insight in a round-about way from his complaining, please start posting your own questions.

And DCP, sorry if this hurts, but it is no different than what you do to us. Think about that.

TAP TAP TAP!!!!!! I skipped over a lot of posts in this thread, but you hit the nail on the head.

DCP, print out two copies of Neil's post. Tape one to the wall in your pool room. Tape the other one to the wall in your bathroom so you can read it while you're on the crapper. Then go back and read this post I wrote to you about a year ago.

http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?p=452938#post452938

Print that one out too and tape it below Neil's post.

Is your table level? Are there dead spots in your rails? No? Well then, you made the balls do what they did.

You titled your thread, "Stuff Like This Destroys My Enthusiasm". Well I've got news for you: your ATTITUDE destroys my enthusiasm. Come on man, sack it up. I've noticed now that when I miss an easy shot, I picture your famous saying, "I botched another easy run out." Yuck! I might need to put you on ignore for a while, but to be honest, some of your threads turn out to be great. It's just your negativity that totally ruins them.

Guess what? You're not going to get all the rolls. You're not going to make all the easy shots. Deal with it!

AMEN! tap, tap, tap! Like I always say (and TOLD DCP)...good players make GREAT (sometime amazing) shots...GREAT players don't (because they don't have to)!

a very wise old man and champion of the past once told me,"good players make their own rolls".it took a long time to really understand what he meant:)

"I smell an attention ho'." Thank you Thunderball.

That's exactly correct.. imo and Jay told us that a couple weeks back and I said it in another thread. Do not respond to his threads any more. He's started about 570 new threads for pete's sake.

i suppose what really frustrated me was that, as i have stated before, i break and break and never get any decent rolls off the break. it frustrated me, and then i had this layout and thought i might FINALLY/POSSIBLY have a chance to runout if i could somehow break up the 4-3 cluster. so i hit a pretty good shot, sending the cue ball into the 4-3 cluster, and once again for the 50th time that night i didnt get a roll.

oh well. but i aint gonna give up.

And with this nugget you make my ignore list as well.I have know idea how to use it,or how it works, but take pride in the fact that we will take this journey together.

I've taken a minute or two (as many have) to explain how we approach the game so we ENJOY it.I'll not go into it now,but you sir have missed it.Small picture, big picture,whatever....you are always gonna suck cuz you miss the greater good.

Try ping pong or bowling...and find some forums where you can express how your luck screwed you yet again and again and again....

They will probably suggest pool.

Good Gawd....Have we just defined the online nit? I think perhaps we have.

I'd wish you good rolls brother, but we both know better...
