Swanee tournament - this weekend!!!!

Attn: Pool Enthusiasts!

The annual Swanee tournament is being held this weekend at world-famous Hard Times Billiards in Bellflower, CA. The field is already full at 192 players...and this year, there are some monsters in the field. In addition to So Cal notables such as Oscar Dominguez, Ernesto Dominguez, Dave Hemmah, Tang Hoa and Louis Ulrich...we have some pool royalty in the house with the likes of Francisco Bustamante and Efren Reyes!!!!

This is an amazing event run by CSI...and they do a fantastic job of keeping things moving along!

If you love pool, live in the So Cal area, and are looking for something to do this weekend...come on out and sweat the action. It's not very often that you get to see pool played at this level in your own backyard!

And for those who don't have the privilege of living in So Cal :)wink:)...I believe that there will be a live stream of the event. I'm not 100% sure who is providing it...but I will post the info when I do find out!

All my best!

My understanding is the doors open at 9A and the tournament begins at 10.

Please correct me if this is wrong.

Also, can you jump with your break cue or is it playing cue only.

Hi Mark,

Let me guess:

-no jump cues

- magic rack (love it)

- measles ball (that's what HT uses).

See you Saturday.

Thank you for the streaming. One of the reasons I like to watch this tournament is that the TD keeps it moving along at a good pace. John

Thank you Mark. I had heard there was streaming...but I wasn't sure who was doing it and I didn't want to post erroneous information.

Looking forward to it!

For sure no jump cues unless the rules have been changed. Last year was rack your own with the MR and the 2 ball in the back.

I saw the draw already Mitchell and you're getting him first round on the super-tight TV table.

As long as you beat Efren in the first round so I can then get knocked out by him on the loser's side, I'll consider it a good tournament. :grin-square:

I heard the line is Mitchell -3. I can't find anyone taking action on it, though. :)

I heard he's been playing too much golf lately. Barely runs 200 in 14.1 anymore. I'd bet a beer from the bar at Hard Times that he wouldn't get to 4 against you.

No Jump cues.

You are allowed to jump with your shooting cue (not break cue)!

Winner breaks - rack your own.

The word that got to me was that it will the red circle ball and not the measles ball. I've been practicing with the red circle. Anyone know for sure?

Dear Frank 'the barber'---

Well - now you have done it!

I saw your post and then I had to call Dave Hemmah to see wht kind of balls HardTimes usually uses.

He told me 22 tables have measle ball and other have something else.

I know I have always used red circle cue ball in the past - and that is 'because' I like the red circle and I don't like the measle ball.

I don't play enough (anymore) to go into the why and whynots. Just say the measle plays 'flatter' and I need the 'resiliency' of the red circle.

Enough of that rambling -

It should not make any difference what I like - because although I am playing, I am not a threat to win anything.

So - in fairness to everyone that was assuming we would be using the red circle once again - guess what???

YOU ARE RIGHT!!!! (and you have Frank the Barber to thank or to blame - because he brought up the issue). I had completely slept it!

So - everyone that is happy owes FRANK. All others should get him to reimburse you!!!

Caution - not sure what next year will bring so please someone ask in advance.

Thanks everyone - really looking forward to this event - it is a killer field.
