Hey Don,
You can't feel bad about your cues finding a good home..
I owned 4 of the cues in the pictures as well.....
I'm happy to see them reunited with other siblings..
Always nice to see them again..
John,
You did a great job putting together a collection from legendary cuemakers..
Best,

This Thread from John shouldn't be forgotten...one of the best G Szamboti collections of all time..this Thread deserved to be on top again :)

Thank you for bringing this back up, it was fun reading the posts again and looking at the pictures!

It is hard to believe that I posted these over a year ago, I have bought quite a few Barry's and Gus cues since, I guess I will need to take some more pictures soon!

I play with a Barry, Gus or Gilbert mostly, I have also been playing with my Searings. I am not a great player so it doesn't hurt my game too much playing with different cues. I have played wth most of the top cue makers and these are the best in my opinion.

I keep a Predator P2 in my car for pool leagues and places where I know someone will bump into me and my cue.

I normally like a 59" ss cue with a leather wrap around 19.5 oz.

What a great collection of Searings.
Since I have a Barry you used to own, I would be inclined to adopt a Searing as well - if you would be so kind once again.

Awesome line up.

Amazing Searing Collection! I wish I had just one.

Nice to see you still have the Bluegrass you got from me a while back-

Once again, THANKS. I would never have believed a collection of Searing cues this size would be possible. How could someone sell a Searing. Amazing collection.

hey

John.......I have no idea how I havent seen this post until 5 minutes ago.

That collection is absolutely mind boggling...MIND BOGGLING...
Good luck with finding more to add

great stuff John, I believe this is perhaps the best Gus collection around, Mark Griffen had a monster colection he broke up and sold a few years back(I wish I would have known), you have assembeled a incredible colection of Gus's work, Someday I hope I can do this as well, the $$ is the easy part its finding the right cues, Thats the trick. To me its not about the $$$ I dont care if they are cheap or expensive-what I love is what Gus created and seeing his art and how it evoloved, while they all play perfect. The art is important but playability is where the action is, Gus did both-and seeing the origonal masterpieces that were the inspiration for so much of todays work is why looking at them turns me on. Owning them just makes that convenient, I bust out my Szams and look atthem all the time, one at a time I will get one out and leave it next to me while i'm working on the phone and look at it up and down a zillion times and then go hit balls with it later(only a couple dont get played). Thats whats its all about. Paying trubute to Gus by enjoying his cues in everyway possible-ALL THE TIME!!! Hoarding them away in the dark forever should be punishable by confiscation!!!!!

So having said all that, I still have first dibb's my $$$ is posted up. ;) If I didnt have first dibb's-I do know. :p :p. Here is a true story, I asked a buddy of mine for 16 years if he would sell me his Gus, I would see him about once every 2-3 years(we live in different citys), finally after 16 years he broke down and sold it to me. Honest truth, we are still great friends, so there is no hurry here-call me in 20 years I will take them all for more than anyone else. Seriously enjoy your collection you derseve it and congrats on building it. As you know Gus is my hero-still trying to figure out this Barry guy is though.;) ;) :D :D :p

That is one of my favorites also! That cue has four original shafts and the original box. I bought that cue from an AZ'r here on this forum.

My favorite cue also. When I sold the cue to you I was offered $3000 more for it the next day.
My Wife said I had lost $3000 on the sale, I said not true, that I got what I wanted for the cue.
Thanks for the pics and I know the Gus got a very good home. Thanks, Casey
