TAR 39 The Last Waltz

Thanks for the ride Justin, you have a lot to be proud of.

Kind of feels like your favourite TV show has just been cancelled.

Good luck in your future endeavours.

Sad to see it go. A TAR match in my eyes was the Super Bowl of pool. It really meant something. I know first hand what you've put into this. You've made history Justin and it's hard to see something historic end. Just glad that the best thing TAR ever gave me, besides amazing pool, was a great friend.

Clean up in the royal room.

Justin, thanks for all you have done for our great sport. You made TAR into a household pool name. Justin you not only talked about making a difference you did make a difference. Thank you Justin for all the great match ups, best of luck

Although I am completely bummed, I totally understand. Thanks for some amazing matches over the past 7 years. Another piece of pool history, an amazing piece at that! Well done to all that made it happen.

I have gotten a bunch of questions and just wanted to tell people what the deal is.

For months Mark and I have been talking about what we wanted to do going forward with TAR. 2013 was a rough year. The studio lease is up in July and we needed to decide what we both wanted to do. After many conversations today it was decided to wrap it up but no firm plans on exactly how it was going to be done. Just that it was over. Mark has put a good amount of money into TAR and I have sank the last seven years of my life into it. Neither of us like to give up but I believe its the right decision for both of us.

A lot of thoughts and emotions were going through me and I knew it was the right answer but I hate to give up. As I was thinking about all of this I was looking at the TAR 39 banner and thought "How can you ever do better than this match?" Then I started thinking about Chad and what he would of thought. He would of said "Thats how we do it."

Whenever I make decisions I try to think of things in the past I have experienced, read about or heard about that are relevant to the situation and try to take lessons from those. What popped into my head was The Band and their last concert which was filmed by Martin Scorsese and titled "The Last Waltz". They decided to go out with a fantastic last performance. Proud of what they had done and ending it on their terms.

I thought to myself "This is the best possible match we could have. How do you not end with this one even if there is a few months to cobble something else together that may or may not make a few bucks?" So I made my personal decision that this is the last TAR match for me. I am the type of person that is either on or off. You either do something or you don't. So if we are ending this thing lets end it the right way. Thats why TAR 39 is the end of the run.

Efren and Shane are what Chad and I wanted TAR to be about from the beginning. The best going heads up. In the beginning it was in action. As things progressed it morphed into something more structured and better on the players but the core of it was the same. Two champions. One winner. Billy Incardona once said "I feel lucky to have been here when Efren was here to see him play." I feel that way about both Efren and Shane so thats why to me this is the only way to end TAR's run.

TAR is not going disappear on Monday. I have some commitments over the next few months and I will honor them. One is the US Bar Table Championships in Reno. I will be there with Andy Chen and Tim Wampler like last year to cover the events for CSI. Some decisions will be made about different things and I plan for the TAR archives to be around for people to see what we did but TAR 39 is the last one on one match I plan on ever doing under a TAR banner because it simply doesnt get any better. If you are going to go out then you should go out in style.

Thank you to everyone who has supported TAR through the years. Without all of you none of the great matches and moments we were able to capture would have happened. I can't begin to list everyone as it would take pages. Just know that I deeply appreciate the fact you have allowed me to do things and live a life that has been great for the last seven years. I hope everyone who can will join us this weekend for the last one.

Sorry to hear it, big guy. You created an industry institution.

Fuuuuuuuuucccckkkkkk.....

Man I am so sorry to hear this. I have loved everything you guys did over the years. Not only was TAR a good company but you guys are great people. Whatever the future hold for everyone who was involved in TAR, I wish you the best.

TAR is closing shop and TAR39 will be the last one. I have so many great pool memories thanks to Justin and TAR.

I remember eating Dinner with Justin, Shane and a few others from here at Woodchick BBQ at the US Open one year.

I remember hanging out at the TAR booths at the EXPO and shooting on the booth table and "The Anvil" getting his nickname right there.

I remember hanging with Justin numerous times at q-master at the US Open and the Expo and party rooms.

I remember buying TAR 1 on DVD and every TAR DVD that was ever released and every one of them being EPIC.

My favorite match ever is Alex vs Shane Round 1 at Derby. I have that match on every thing I own that can play video. Everything was perfect about it. The quality, the seedy-ness of the derby, the hill hill finish, Alex's crazy foul. The candid commentary (Bobby, Jeanette, Karl, Darren, Jay)...

This news sucks for pool as so many dream matches came from them, but the TAR team needs to do what is best for them first.

I wish them all the best of luck and I cannot express my gratitude enough for all the entertainment you have provided.

As I said on FB... you guys blazed a trail in the pool world. There are now many pool streamers out there, but none like TAR. You're a class act Justin... I do not think anyone understands the state of pool as much as you and Mark.

I thank you for all the memories... too many to list, but the early days of TAR and the DCC will forever be etched in my pool memory. Those were some great times, and great matches. Then to end it with the two great players in the TAR studio is a fine farewell.

Godspeed my friend!

Justin appreciate your and Marks efforts, never know till ya take a flier. I had a similar situation with my own business, slowly the air comes outta ya, yet the love of the art of pool is still in your blood. I hope you find other ways to generate you living within our industry. I worked Yrs ago with a producer Ed Fugate in the south TN? AL, been to long ago to remember. Anywho, he wanted to do a Nascar type king of the hill winner stays on. I had contacted about every player at that time, from Carter to Archer and they we're all on board. Before we could get it going, the bank backed out and I had to call em all back and cancel. You might consider bar box Eight ball matches, with the best bar table player from NV challenging CA. If California wins then have another state step into the arena and have a match production once a month.

Good luck, if your in Denver in Mar, see ya there.

This is sad news. The TAR matches I have purchased via onDemand have been some of my favorite viewings of pro pool. I have also enjoyed the podcasts very much, they have accompanied me on many road trips (as audio only while driving) and I wish you the best of luck in future endeavors. Thanks for all the great service to the game, TAR will be missed. Sorry for you that you couldn't make a fair living with all the great quality you brought to these matches, your website and the on Demand options...

So is this the end of TAR as in no matches streamed from anywhere, or just the studio TAR?

Will you be putting out the remaining recorded matches up for sale?

Sad news for all of us and I'm sure it was a tough decision to make, but a great final match.

I'll be watching this weekend as I always do. This is a very sad day for me and most hardcore pool players. You brought us all something most of us would never see W/O TAR streams. You brought together the best players in the world that would come match up. Be very proud of yourself as we as hardcore players are of you for 7 years of thrills and memories. Good luck in what ever you do, and I hope it's something to do with pool. See ya tonight. John Terrell

It was a good run my friend and you and Chad spawned an entire generation of pool streamers. All of us action junkies cannot thank you enough for your contribution to the game.

Respectfully

Surreal.....

... I got back into pool after about a 12 year layoff at the sametime that TAR was coming on-line.. and it was a wonderful way to be introduced to who was who and what was what ............ A lot of positive memories on the streams and more of the personalities brought together...

I also find it surreal.... as if the world is slightly askew... that the last TAR will be this weekend and BB will be on ESPN the next!

Godspeed, Sir - and best of luck in all your future efforts ---

Nothing lasts forever....

Best of luck in your next ventures. I'm glad to have the chance to experience things thru TAR that I wouldn't have without you guys. I'm glad to have had a chance to contribute a little bit both as a customer and commentator. It was a good run...

Well, this sucks.

I have hundreds of matches, and my favorite ones are the TAR matches. Yourself,Mark , and the camera crew have done a fantastic job over the years, and I'm sure Chad is smiling down on you bro.

Good Luck with your future.

Rick

Justin,

I admire what you've done. You put on one heck of a show and I will miss it.
