TAR Podcast #4 with Earl Strickland & Shane Van Boening

Just sitting down to watch the podcast here in Scotland at 11:09 am with a steaming hot cup of tea & a couple of morning rolls, what a way to spend a friday morning.

Long time since I laughed out loud. Think it might've been Richard Pryor talking bout his monkey last time I laughed so hard I cried. Earl should be put on a stage, unknowing he's entering a World championship of stand-up comedy final. He seems to be such a nice guy, some issues but we all got them, right? <3 Earl!

Earl is a great and talented pool player, but if he really acts like he does in this video... Well, lets say if I didn't know about his pool game, I would think he has a mental disability.
Listening to him makes me roll my eyes and feel embarrased for some reason.

If he is acting like that because of the cameras, I can understand it.

It is really great to watch Earl but it is really disturbing at the same time. You can see him go through so many changes in 2 or 3 minutes that leave you just wondering how he deals with all that stuff he has swimming around his brain.

He really wants everyone to love him and there really is a lot for everyone to embrace for sure. I wish him well.

Well, I hope the match with Shane is a good one!

I loved it, couldn't turn it off. Mark Griffin did a great job keeping that whole thing moving! Not so easy to do what he did and to keep Earl engaged. Earl could have turned on him at any moment, but Mark played it just right, smoothing out the rough moments.

Earl was entertaining and illuminating as well. He is definitely a pool savant, a genius and an idiot at the same time. Good job by TAR to create a podcast like this. A great run up to today's match. Two thumbs up! Tap Tap!

One of the most entertaining podcasts. "I DON"T BOW DOWN TO NO ONE!". "I CAN GET CRAZY!!!" Earl is a true champion. His delivery is off sometimes but, I tell you what, if you think about what he says it makes a LOT of sense.

I got tickled at Shane too. He just sits there and laughs at Earl. Ha! Thanks JCIN!

Best podcast I've ever watched in my entire life. Special thanks goes out to Justin and Mark for making that "experience" happen.

I could listen to Earl ALLLLLL day and that was some of the most entertaining Earl I've ever seen.

I worry that Earl took Joe Rogan's impersonation a little too serious. Earl, if you're reading this---- JOE IS A COMEDIAN.... he's supposed to mix up your words and make it funny. I wouldn't get too tough... Joe would get a full mount on ya in about 4 seconds ;)

My cheeks are hurting from smiling so hard--- that was the best ever.

EARRRRRRRRRRRL!!!!!

The cameras had nothing to do with it. I found Earl wondering around in the lobby yesterday and spent a few hours talking with him. He has the same emotions when no one is around. Earl says what he thinks, it is that simple.

If he is acting like that because of the cameras, I can understand it.

No doubt, this was an amusing podcast, but it also provided evidence that Earl is not really in control of his emotions. Still, on balance, his excellence and his dedication to continued excellence shone through in a very positive way.

His whining about the playing conditions, which has been going on since the 1990's, wears thin with me. After Efren beat him 120-117, he proclaimed Efren the greatest "sticky conditions" player in the world. A great player must know how to adapt to all conditions, but Earl doesn't seem to get that after all these years of playing.

What I did like about Earl's comments was the distinction he made between good breaking and good playing. His reflections on the days when he competed against Wade Crane, who had one of the best breaks ever, were interesting, and Earl, who had quite a break himself, made it clear that he could beat Wade Crane because he was the better player.

Wishing Earl good luck.

Joe wouldn't have to use any ju jitsu. He would only have to start talking to Earl as Earl. It would make his head explode in about 90 seconds.

Tonight is going to be interesting.
