Thoughts?

I haven't heard about this guy's cues. He was sought after by the pro players 10 years ago and builds a great cue.

Ted harris

Ginky used to play with one. I'm not sure if he still does but Danny green was using his stuff for a bit I believe. I used to have one it hit pretty damn good I believe it was made in the late 90's.

Danny is now Teddy's cue building partner.

Danny and Teddy Split ways, last I had heard. I shoot with a Ted Harris cue and love them. Mike Davis plays with one and Dennis Orcollo named a ted harris cue his cue of choice when his Southwest warped after trying several replacement southwest cues and others! It was published in a Sports Illustrated article about a year ago! Dennis Orcollo is now sponsored by Tiger I believe.

For the price it is one hell of a cue and surprisingly they almost never come up on secondary market. But, I must say Teddy has had difficulty over the years and buying what he has already made is the only way to go! He could customize and build your designs but his issues make that unrealistic unless things have changed!

If you find one you like and ALREADY made for sale I would not hesitate. He makes Player cues! He also does all the shaft work for Mika Immonena almost exclusively. These are some really big names in pro pool and I am shocked he is not in MORE demand then he is. But, most buyers want ART not PERFORMANCE. They think slap a low deflection predator shaft on it for performance. Buyers are funny and people too! The thing could play like a stradivarius and look like a Yugo car and NOT want it. But, it look like a ferrari and play like a banjo and they are sold!

He makes all his shafts FAT on purpose! You have to TELL him what type of taper and modifications you want. He can always take some off but can't put some on!!! You can get Ted's taper and it is a good one or go with a pro taper! I like 13.7 or 13.8 in middle of shaft taper and 12.75 or 12.85 at tip!

Anyways, if you do buy second hand you can order another shaft from teddy and he can ship it pretty fast. He uses radial pins and standard rings so he does not need your butt to match the shaft properly.

Anyways, happy shopping. I hope this info was of some help!

Teds cues have always been heralded as on par with the best playing cues out there.

His work ethic has been documented as being on par with the worst.

He's a friggin artist and could be far more successful than he is, but I guess that business is not a priority for him.

ted works alot these days. I call him on my way to work before 830am alot and hes usually in the shop working.

I met Ted Harris at the US Amateur finals in Florida last year. I actually played against him! He was really cool. I hit with a cue of his and it was very nice. VERY stiff hit. Nice workmanship. I wouldn't hesitate to play with his cues. By the way, Ted can play!

Thanks for the info.

I've heard nothing but wonderful things about him. I knew he was one of the few custom builders that actually build for pro's. The pro's love his stuff, therefore, I'm thinking about trying one out.

He's the only custom builder that gets praises from pro's and his prices are reasonable.

I was browsing his website 2 weeks ago and today it seems to be down.

I've actually got a Ted Harris cue for sale. Purple Heart wood. Never played with. I won it in a regional tour that Ted sponsored. It's standard length and I use longer cues so I never used it and Ted ended up building me a longer cue that I'm still using now. If anyone is interested I can email pics of it.

That purple heart wood is very desirable, from I read on the pool forums. :)

You might think about eBay, Mike. It reaches a larger audience of prospective buyers, and there is a modicum of protection there as far as getting paid.

Photo of his cues! My collection!
