Yes, that's right; television as in U.S. Television Broadcasting.

The Galveston World Classic tournament is not only going to be broadcast on television in ASIA but also right here in the good old United States.

This is a MAJOR STEP in the right direction. Taylor Road Production and their movers and shakers deserve a lot of credit for getting this tournament broadcast to over a hundred million households.

You can go to the following link to learn more about this. Leave a comment to Taylor Road Production if you have a thought you care to share.

Maybe you know of a corporation who wants to get in on the ground floor of doing commercials for the television broadcasts.

Is this great or what?

"Is this great or what?"
Thats the best news I have heard all day. Thanks JoeyA for letting all of us know.

Will not be able to attend but I hope everything goes good for this event it sounds like something that could be great for pool.

The tournament is live in Asia...not shown 2 months later. I believe I read that right. Johnnyt

This is great news for this incredible sport! A Major Step in the right direction is a major understatement! I was also excited to see it will be streamed live...free! Thanks Joey!

The tournament will be Live-Streamed EVERYWHERE, but the actual television broadcasting will be re-broadcast for ESPN STAR (Asia) as well as re-Broadcast for U.S.A on Versus network.

Too bad it won't be live but it sure is a step in the right direction. It's also nice to note they will be broadcasting at a reasonable time slot, 6-7PM. I also wish they were doing two hour segments instead of one, but again, it's a start.

Please tell me the Versus telecasts will be in HD. ;)

I think -- and I may be wrong -- that Deno Andrews is going to provide the online live-streaming coverage.

Deno has a great deal of experience in this arena, and I think this will be a first-class production.

Also, most importantly in my opinion, Deno's got a good memory, doesn't forget who his friends are, treats them accordingly, and will be an asset to any team he's a part of.

He'll be a great worker bee and has the knowledge and skills set to make things happen. :)

I don't know about Deno doing the streaming.

But I agree that Deno is an asset to the billiard industry with his skill sets and knowledge. While I seldom see Deno any more, I consider him a friend and wouldn't hesitate to call on him even though I hold no markers for him.

OMG< thanks for the good news. I get Versus on DirecTV so I'll be watching every chance I get! They're the same channel that covered the IPT.

HD QUALITY telly broadcast.

Versus is on the regular cable channels as well.

If you go to the www.theworldclassic.com, they even list the times when the tournament will be broadcast.

Hopefully everyone will consider tuning into the broadcast which will be in HD and sponsors will buy lots of commercials to advertise their products and services. I could easily imagine non-billiard industry suppliers buying commercials for the holiday buying season.

Very astute factoid. Hmm, now I am beginning to wonder....

Well, it's no secret that I think the IPT was the best thing to happen for pool players in a long time. I am not the only one who feels this way either. I may be in the minority, but I am not alone. In fact -- well, I'll just leave it right there.

Word......

This first hand news report just in:

Deno Andrews is not involved with the Galveston event in any way shape or form. The only thing that Deno did was to share some of the IPT's Asian television broadcasting hours that they had previously secured from ESPN STAR. It was a time element thing, besides just a good idea that made this possible.

Lots of goodwill there for the IPT and Deno but there is no other involvement with the Galveston Tournament from either Deno or the IPT. That you can take to the bank.

Thanks again Deno for caring about the future of pocket billiards.

Wow, JoeyA, that was a quick clarification. You must have a little clout or have friends in high places! ;)

I don't know if this is a first for pool, but it will definitely be the first time I've seen a pro tournament in HD. I'm not sure but I may have seen that speed pool thing in HD.

Another exciting thing about this tournament is that people who wish to lay down a bet on the matches will be able to do so ONLINE.

I believe that you will also be allowed to make a bet on the Challenge Matches....

I just emailed Versus to tell them how happy I am about them showing pool.
Hopefully everyone will do the same and we can get more!!!

Joey,

This press release sure sounds like they are involved.

I still have many friends that are out money from qualifiers. I really hope that Joey is correct with his statement.
