The document of our pool related road trip across the U.S. updated daily

Nothing new today, I waited around all day for action, none for me. I did however get to watch Tony Watson in action with the guy I beat a few nights ago named Ace, they were playing races to 9 for $2000.00 and Ace was getting spotted the 6 out on a 9 ft Diamond. Tony lost all the sets they played.

Gene is still in the winners bracket, only 16 players left in the tournament he goes back tomorrow at 1pm. He is icing his arm and hand and going to get some good sleep.

Thanks for the updates, Tony is a monster player but I haven't seen him play an even set in quite sometime. Very good players in that area
Good luck and have fun

I'm surprised you waited all day there for action and got none. Maybe today will be better as more players are eliminated.

Just an FYI, word has it Johnny is playing Keith Bennett for serious $$$ at 3 pm. Keith knocked Johnny out of the tourney late last night, 9 - 7.

They're supposedly playing 10 ball, Keith is getting the 8 out. That'd be a great match to sweat if it does go down.

At the end of the day a drug dealer is just trying to make money. The last thing they want is heat or to bring attention to themselves. Its not worth it to them to hurt you. Its nothing to be worried about.

That is a good point.

However, you just have to hope that the mercenaries who prey on the drug dealers don't catch you in the crossfire.

True, perhaps, but it would probably unwise to get between them and the back door.

Dorabelle's answer was downright stupid. Who in their right mind would want to put themselves right smack in the middle of that environment? Too much crazy stuff can happen. Brings to mind an old favorite saying, "you don't go into a whorehouse to play the piano"

Sounds like some fun maybe this spring before headed back to the mid west. My plans for now are to go to Fayettville for about 10 days after the U.S. Open, then to Myrtle Beach for 5 weeks this should keep us out of the cold and in some good action.

But before we decide to go that direction I need to confirm that there is no smoking at Shore Thing Billiards because if there is smoking allowed then Gene wont go there at all.

Let me know when y'all head to Myrtle Beach. I will get you and Gene action if you want.
It is smoking though. No drug dealers but if you spot one point them my way :)

very funny............there is no REAL danger at C billiards. just what's contrived in your mind.

If you're looking to gamble, and more importantly make a living gambling, drug dealers are great!!! You need people that gamble and have disposable income... Unlike those who have legit money drug dealers are limited in where they can spend theirs, they don't file with the IRS, so its a good thing when pool players collect the taxes they're supposed to pay. You can't be afraid to take off scores.....

I really don't think Gene will have any problems with the smoke at STB
Most days the room is not real busy and the ventilation is great. I've never seen it smokey in that room. If you let me know I will have action for both of you a and I'm not trying to trap you. I like Gene and will get him action he will like( I know the pecking order) I don't know your speed but I can let you know who to avoid. I know the pool scene there as good as anyone

Maybe its just old age and self preservation kicking in. At one time I used to gravitate to the seedier parts of where ever I'm at and fit right in.

Now, I keep a pretty close watch on what going on.

If I pick up bad vibes, I'm usually not long for that place. Just about got myself killed one night in Little Rock while I was there working.
Strip bar with bikers and patches hanging out. I hit the front door as calm as could be and once I heard the door close, I high tailed it.

I have yet to run into a dope dealer who wasn't fun to gamble with. That's just my experience. But boy will they blow.

I guess I should clarify my point on playing dope dealers. Times are really changed in the last 15 years. You never know when someone under the influence might snap. Also drug dealers do have enemies and they do not deal with problems well. Being in the same area might not be a good idea.

I had a quote unquote friend that was stakehorsed buy a slinger. It seems his phone calls ended up being recorded luckily it was nothing more band action talk. That was enough to cure me. Guess I'm getting old and cautious myself.

Word is...

Gene finished 5th at the shark infested Brass Tap tourney. I'd have been there, wish I was there, but couldn't due to work. My thanks to Wayne, aka fat Albert, pool enthusiast and networking extraordianire. Whom I live vicariously through when I have to pull more than 20 hours a week.

Gene beat a strong BJ Ussery to go deep, not sure who he lost to, but it was one of these 4 remaining: Mike Fuller, Stevie Moore, Shannon Fitch and Moneymaker -they're battling it out as we speak. Hats off to Gene, respect.

In other news... Johnny is playing Keith Bennett as I type. As of a few minutes ago, it was Johnny up 13-10. Race to 25. More than a few thou each on the light. Keith getting the 8 out in 10 ball.

Adding, Keith is rolling, now @ 15 -14 Keith. Johnny had him @ 10 -5. @ 40 - 80 spectators, adjacent tables blocked off.

Gene left a bit ago, is expected to return. Rhea is playing a gal named Asia. Wayne says Rhea plays pretty good.

Stay tuned if you care to the place on the east coast at the moment that has it going on.

Stevie Moore beat Gene 9-7 after Gene had an unfortunate scratch that would have put him on the hill 8-6.

While Keith Bennet was playing Johnny Archer for $5000.00 race to 25 spotting Keith the 8out in 10 ball, Jarrod Mcgee was battling it out with Steve Paige and I was playing even with Asia on table 4, we played a total of 5 sets, she won 3 sets to my 2 sets putting her 1 set up on me hill-hill then she quit because she was tired she made it to the final day of the tournament so she was already playing most of the day.

Hopefully I will get to match up with Asia some more this week or maybe Ace, oh speaking of Ace he is back again playing Tony Watson for $3000.00 per set tonight getting the 6out and all the breaks races to 9.

If they are local and you befriend them and make sure they enjoy losing to you, it's a great source of income. I made a lot of money with the local DD's when I was younger. We played ring games and I'd walk out with full pockets and they'd want me back the next night.

Good customer service goes a long way.....

For those interested, here's what I gathered from the Brass Tap FB posts:

Final Tournament Standings:
1. Shannon Fitch
2. Mike Fuller
3. Danny Mastermaker
4. Stevie Moore
5. Johnny Griffin
5. Gene Albrecht

There was no summary post, but I think/hope that's right. I hate I didn't have time to make it out there this weekend; it looks like it was a pretty strong field, also including Keith Bennett, Johnny Archer, BJ Ussery, Steve Paige, Tony Watson, Jarrod McGee, and a couple other local A players.

It also looks like Keith Bennett took down Johnny Archer in their side action 25-21. As previously mentioned, Johnny was giving up the 8 out in 10-ball. At one point, Johnny was up 14-12, then Keith won 10 straight to go up 22-14. At the level these guys play, I would be curious to know how much of an effect the spot had on the outcome.I'm pretty sure Keith gets out from the 8 ball almost every time anyways, so it seems like it would only make much of a difference on early combos.

Rhea, glad to see you got matched up with Asia. She's one of the best female amateurs in the area, so you're doing pretty good to hang with her.

I'd be curious to hear what happened between Tony and Ace. That's some crazy weight to give up, but I have no idea how Ace plays, so it's possible Tony can give that up and still have the nuts.

I watched Tony give Scooter the same thing one time in Greensboro
Scooter took him off quick. Jarrod is good friend of mine and local. He has come a long way in the past few years. My buddy used to give him the 7 ball and rob him. Then Jarrod beats Archer 9-2 at tournament a few years back in SC and that ended his action with us. He will never get that money back lol. We spent that long ago. He is a good kid/man with a jam up dad(Bruce) and no bad habits. I hope he is a champion one day
