Joe invited me to come to his show last night at The Improv in Brea, CA. Tang came along with me. It was the first time I ever saw Joe perform. I've known Joe casually for over ten years, but only saw him in the poolrooms around L.A., occasionally hitting balls with him. He would come to the Los Angeles area tournaments when he got a chance. I'm not big on YouTube so I don't go there to see his shows.

In case you didn't already know, Joe loves pool and has a table at home. He plays with a Carmeli cue (Ariel was at the show as well). Well we had a blast! Two other comics opened the show for Joe, and they were both hilarious. Then Joe came on and he blew everyone away. Now I see why the big fuss about him. His humor is ridiculous funny! When he talked about his new baby girl, and how much she loved mommy's milk, the crowd went wild.

After the show, I visited Joe in the "green" room. He remains the same down to Earth guy who is curious about everything and anything. We talked about the state of pro pool and he wondered how it could be bigger on television in America. I reminded him that pool was very big on TV in Asia, with hours of live television daily at the major events. For whatever reason, the US networks will not buy that feed. Too bad for us pool junkies over here.

This guy is truly a gift to the pool world. He loves the game and respects the ability of the top players. If you get a chance, go to one of Joe's shows. He will crack you up! One last reflection. Thank God for the Joe Rogan's of this world. Their humor is what keeps the rest of us sane. Joe has no problem poking fun at the foibles of human existence. YOUR THE MAN JOE!

P.S. Joe wanted a copy of Pool Wars, so I brought him one and he sat on the couch leafing through it as we talked. I hope he enjoys it half as much as I enjoyed his show.

Joe is the man. He is cool as hell. He also really knows pool and cues. I got to hang out with him and his buddy Ari in Vegas awhile back at Mickey's. They are a riot.

Pool sure could use more guys like Joe Rogan.

I always wondered if AZB's member "Joe Rogan" was authentic. It's good to know that it really is him. I'm a huge MMA nut too.

Some of the best/ funniest videos on YouTube are of Joe dismantling hecklers at some of his shows.

Jr

I saw him here in Omaha at the Funny Bone when the UFC came to town. He did a couple shows. It was the best. He did a couple analogies about Brittney Spears privates that make me laugh to this day. People in the crowd kept sending him up shots and drinks, I think he was lit by the end of it. If you have the chance go see his show for sure.

Jos is awesome. I met him and friends when they came out to Austin a few weeks ago and got a chance to shoot with them. I was very impressed with his game.

Jay, I was trying to find you guys Saturday night in San Diego because Joe had invited me out to his show at House of Blues and I thought you and Ming might have wanted to go. I guess everyone had left for dinner arount that time.

Joe is great for the game, big supporter!

Joe is the man. He is absolutely one of the biggest reasons UFC is where it is today, he is perfect for that role with the UFC.

If Joe ever gets some free time I pray that he will go to bat for pool and try to help promote it. Joe Rogan is one of the genuinely "badass" celebrities, and that's exactly what pool needs again. It takes a certain type of person to talk seriously about beating someone's face in with your knee and sounding professional and appealing. Joe could do the same thing for a sport with a controversial side of it's own.

Joe, if you are ever in Dallas man I would be glad to shoot with you :D

That's awesome, Joe's definately on my list of people I would like to meet.

1) He plays pool
2) He's a funny f*cker, I love laughing & have a huge admiration for improve
3) Well I won't say since I don't know his status on the subject now. I saw him on a cable TV documentary that focuses on something I feel strongly about and he (at the time) was a big advocate of it!

Of course if I ever meet him I might not wanna have the wife there since she already expressed she used to have a crush on him.....

Joe Rogans okie dokie in my book!

you mean he likes to smoke weed? :D

what a coincidence, so do I!

Dont think he meant weed. joe is a a strong advocate of the "mind expanding" qualities of of certain chemicals, and isolation chamber sessions if recall correctly.

I used to go to a poolroom in the 90's in White Plains, New York where Joe used to hang out also. I remember on many occasions I would be there gambling with a friend of Joe's ( Johnny B.) Usually on a weekend you would see Joe hanging out at the poolroom and go flying out the room to do a set at a local comedy shop. They used to show Joe's first HBO special on the TV's there. Now that was some funny stuff... One of the last times I saw Joe in person we were negotating on the price of my Szamboti which Joe had interest in.. Yeah, The price was $1500.. Joe, Shoulda bought it LOL..

I've PMed Joe in the past and after receiving a PM back, I can see Joe hasn't changed from being one of the guys.. He still loves pool and is funny as shit..
Except from probably having a few nice houses, a few nice cars, a few million, and a few super models.. Nothings changed..Much..
Best,
Ken Kerner

Thanks, Jay! Thanks to everyone else for their kind words as well.
Jay, the book looks awesome! I'm gonna get into it this week, and I can't wait. I love a good pool book, and from everything I've heard this book is fantastic!

I've been trying to figure out for a while now the best way to put together a pool show for TV that I could do. Hopefully one day we'll figure it out.
I think we all agree it's the greatest game in the world, and very much under-promoted and under-broadcast in our country.
I had big hopes for the IPT, but that seems to have fizzled out.
The Action Report is still making things happen, but we need something that reaches the mainstream.
Hopefully someone is going to get it together and we'll see the next boom in this great game.
