The Ultimate Post Office Horror Story

Well, my little string of bad luck continues.

Here is a brand new Cory Barnhart cue. I just got it from Cory, and sold it here on AZB. Well, we all know how gentle the post office is in handling their shipments.

Honestly, is there any real way that this could have been accidental? To me, it looks like it had to be intentionally done to totally destroy it like this.

I wrapped it in bubble wrap, and packed it in a tube. Then, I packed the tube in a new Post Office triangle box. Here is the result.

Nothing is left usable. I had hoped that we could save the forearm, but it is split right through the points. The butt sleeve is salvagable, though.

It was insured, but not at full retail value. My last post office claim took 4 hard, grueling months to settle. They kept denying it based on the fact that I had "overstated" the value. I had a $500 claim on a $1500 cue. They finally paid when the cuemaker gave me a certificate of replacement value.

YIKES!!! That's terrible, Joe. :sorry:

It took a helluva load to bend that pin/screw like that.

How about insurance... are you covered?

Sorry for your loss. I can see this happening from a fork lift and an operator who misses the pallet and drives the forks into the shipment.

Hope the USPS makes good on their mistake.

Best regards,
Corey

Jesus!

It looks like some machinary was involved...or two postal monkeys jumped the packaged.

Did you insure it?

That is just fu#$ing amazing. Unreal. Man, sorry for your loss. It's almos like losing a puppy, isn't it?

ouch... that was one beautiful cue too. emphasis on the words WAS.

Hope you get reimbursed with the insurance easily and quickly.

Brutal! I just talked to Joe & we are considering using fed ex or equivalent on higher dollar cues. USPS just dogs it consistently.

Shipping with Fedex

Good choice...But just for your info, the package was transported by a private contractor who brang it to the mail center..from there FEDEX transports it from point to point(they are the contractor for the POSTAL SERVICE).Point is depending on where this damaged occured your still going into the same transportation system. But the postal service is responsible in this case because they are the ones you paid to send it. There is no excuse for the damage shown but something real heavy looks to have landed on the center of that tube or it was run over:o Hope they take care of you Joe

I usually enjoy looking at your photo's, not this time. It's a crying shame. Good luck with the claim.

I'll give you 3 bucks for the joint caps.. lol

That is terrible service by usps. Did you open the box in front of the mailman? That took some force to bend that screw pin like that. Good luck with your claim.
