a couple things piled into one post
Folks:
Humbly, I think part of the problem is how Lee came across to the forum. If one takes a step back, clears his/her head for a moment, and reads the above post as if they've not seen it before, one has to sense there's an air of condescension being displayed by Lee.
-Sean
Sean, the first paragraph of a recent post of yours:
Exactly -- TxSkin nails it in the bolded paragraph above. I recently had an offline discussion with a CTE booster
who'll go unnamed, (Sean is a snarky sounding jerk getting in a cheap shot at somebody) who,
after hearing about my credentials on a pool table, (What a big head, what the hell does Sean think his credentials are, I haven't noticed him winning any world championships) basically said to me, "Sean, just imagine your game after you invest the proper amount of time learning CTE. At your level, a ball, or even half a ball, is HUGE. Stop trying to aim at something you can't see [meaning, ghostball]. You don't need to get wound up in the specifics of 'why' CTE works -- just the 'fact' that it does work, and extract the enjoyment from what your game would be like with it -- almost insane."
Your second paragraph goes on boasting about your abilities.
Do I actually believe a word of what I have written about Sean above? Nope not a word because I already know he is a good guy. Had he been a stranger and I in a crappy mood when I read his post I could have easily put my own tone on his words and believed these things though. Most of the writing on the internet is without tone or with accidental tone. Few of us that have been here for many years don't have to plead guilty to have bitten somebody's head off for an innocent post either worded poorly or read at the wrong moment.
I didn't put any tone at all on Lee's post and I suspected that the "or anybody else here" was a simple edit added on after he proof read his post. I do the same thing myself when I realize I have directed my post to certain people and other people might be interested or able to answer a question.
As for his comments to John S, I notice that Lee has been fishing a bit on here with people large and small. I'd really like to see John play two sets with any of the top snooker players that he has had words with on here. Forget playing pool four different ways and play one set of snooker and one set of pool. John can choose eight ball, nine ball, ten ball, or straight pool. I think we all realize that One Pocket is as much about knowledge acquired over years as it is about ability on a table.
One match of each, on the face of things should be a split with John winning the pool and the snooker player winning the snooker. However John fancies himself a bit on the snooker table and does have some very respectable runs. The snooker players think they can play on a pool table and there is some indication that is true too if one focuses on pool for the six months Lee has used as a time frame.
If there must be a tie breaker how about three cushion or a similar game neither is known for playing?
I think a TAR pay per view with the players getting a piece of the gate would be great to watch and might shed some light on this long running argument about which players are the best. I'd give the snooker players a slight edge at the moment, maybe. I would have went all in on Efren at his peak if he spent even a few months on a snooker table. As I have said before, much of a person's ability transfers between pool and snooker. Taking a top player in either field lightly could prove expensive.
