Re: Viffer accused by pool players of stiffing them for $50K
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
they played june 14-15th
i watched most of the first set, very funny thing was the first game i saw frost won, he moved his bead above the table (used to keep score), he racked the balls, then moved another bead signifying that he'd won two games when in reality he just won one. I used to be around the poolhalls 5-10 years ago, and i laughed to myself thinking "nothing's changed" from the poolhall. anyways, like two shots into the next game viffer looks at the score and mentions to scott that he thinks the scores wrong and asks if he moved his bead twice by mistake or whatever, scott of course says he doesnt think so, and then proceeds to ask a group of guys on the rail if he moved it twice or if the score is wrong, they play dumb and say they didnt see anything. well, obv later realize that the group he asked on the rail was part of his entourage. I couldnt speak up and correct the mistake because i wasnt involved in the game and scott didnt ask me (trust me, u arent allowed to get involved from the rail on a dispute unless the players specifically ask u or maybe u are backing the game or something, sounds silly and wrong but its considered bad pool/gambling etiquette). I just kept my mouth shut and watched the rest of the set.So anyways, i dont even think viffer won a game after that, it was painful to watch, viffer had no chance (viffer isnt gonna have any chance vs a pool player pretty much ever cuz they are mostly just nuthunters and are just gonna give enough weight to still win safely). the extra game Frost got didnt really matter cuz he woulda won anyways sooner or later, but i guess technically and ironically, viffer never lost the original set, but i guess poolroom rules he didnt catch it then, so snooze u loose etc.
they finished the set, viffer paid from a big bag on the light (kinda dangerous if some armed thugs found out about that kinda money in that little shopping center). viffer was i think wanting to adjust slightly and get another game spot in a 15 ahead set (which one more game wouldnt really give him a chance anyways) and scott had to wait for billy incardona to get there to raise the bet for some reason even though he just got paid like 40 or 50k or whatever (maybe railbirds had part of it who knows). viffer wanted to play etc and was wanting to bet the rail 10k more, i obv wanted to bet cuz it was basically free money but couldnt cuz i had to get some rest for whatever wsop tourney was the next day and didnt wanna risk the numerous potential ways i could get screwed if i left while i had a bet in progress. finally billy got there and they bet whatever viffer wanted and maybe adjusted the game slightly. i watched a little bit and left and heard a week or so later that viffer stiffed em for like 50k from a few ppl.
anyways, there are only two possible scenarios.
1. viffer paid scott, and he blew it or whatever and lied to billy.
2. viffer just stiffed them for whatever reason.
there is no way billy got paid and lied about it. as someone mentioned, would be silly logic to shake someone down for a debt that's already been paid
i dont know viffer or scott, only thing i know of scott firsthand is seeing him move his bead twice and essentially cheat viffer out of a game he didnt win. now he coulda done it by accident from being ****ed up or just honest mistake, however i doubt it simply cuz when i played pool i always knew scores of sets in my head and its hard to bellieve a top level player didnt realize the score was wrong. ive been away from pool for a long time and hear stories here and there about players doing this or that, or dumping backers etc. ive heard little things about scott, but nothing that i could judge his character or honor on (im sure i could make calls and get better picture of his integrity but i really dont care). so basically no reads on frost other than the stealing of one game vs viffer intentional, or unintentional.
I dont personally know billy, but he is an important person in pool and has been around forever. now dont get me wrong, most pool players are snakes and/or pieces of sht in general. most arent very trustworthy etc. U have to generally be deceptive in pool, hustle, conceal your speed etc. in general to have a chance to make any money in pool, and most do far worse. But, there are some that sorta believe in the "honor among thieves" logic, and i think Billy Incardona definately falls into this category. Billy has a pretty decent reputation or at least really good one relative to the pool world. Of course hes gonna match up nitty/tough and try to win the money or bring in pool players to trap other ones and the usual stuff that happens in pool, but i dont think Billy is a crook or anything. ive heard little things that are typical in the pool world about him, but never of him ripping anyone off or not honoring a bet or anything super out of line.
anyways, im not one for writing off debts etc. but if viffer or someone taht lost a crazy amount to me when they essentially had no chance to win, id probably consider it free money and a bonus of any money i got paid on the debt, id probably just let him buyout for half or a third or something reasonable (mainly hoping to play him more ) as long as he wasnt a pric about it etc which allegedly might be the case with the valet stuff.
i dont know if viffer stiffed them, or if he did what reasons he had to justify it, i left so i dont know what happened after that. but if scott blew the money or part of it etc, i doubt hed ever own up to it with billy cuz billy isnt the type of person u wanna fk over for several reasons.
sidenote: viffer should stop playing these nuthunting pool champions and play me , ive been playing poker for a living for 7.5 years and stopped pool 5 years ago, so he actually has chance to win vs me, i have my own money and super baller friends if i need more to bet
anyways, shtty situation and i hope it gets resolved without any bloodshed etc
another sidenote: why is jean robert bellande such a degen gambler in poker with last longers and crazy cash game swings but such a nit in pool lol? Bobby, step up and play me and u might get a little closer to that mil
